New Earthquake Strikes Istanbul

Istanbul – SABA: A new earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter scale struck the Turkish city of Istanbul on Friday. According to Russia's "RIA Novosti" agency, the tremor was felt strongly in the western part of the city at around 8:33 PM local time. The agency noted that the quake was weaker than the one that hit the city last Wednesday. Experts from Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) confirmed the quake's magnitude at 4.3 and reported continued aftershocks in Istanbul, following a 6.2-magnitude quake earlier this week that injured 200 people. AFAD also recorded a series of seismic tremors outside the city, reaching up to 4.5 in magnitude. Amid rising fears of a stronger earthquake, many residents once again chose to spend the night outdoors, according to Turkish media reports. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print
