Motorcycling-Marc Marquez reigns supreme to win German GP after only 10 riders finish
HOHENSTEIN-ERNSTTHAL, Germany (Reuters) -Marc Marquez proved once again why he is known as the 'King of Sachsenring' when the Ducati rider marked his 200th MotoGP start by winning the German Grand Prix on Sunday in a race where only 10 riders finished.
Marquez's ninth MotoGP victory at the Sachsenring stretched his championship lead over brother Alex, who finished second, to 83 points while Marc's teammate Francesco Bagnaia finished third.
Alex had started fifth on the grid and took second in his 100th MotoGP start despite still recovering from a fractured hand he suffered at the Dutch Grand Prix two weeks ago which required surgery.
Several riders crashed over the course of the race, especially at turn one -- including VR46 Racing's Fabio Di Giannantonio and Aprilia's Marco Bezzecchi when they were in second place.

Soccer-West Ham sign Senegal defender Diouf
(Reuters) -West Ham United have signed Senegal defender El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague on a long-term deal, the Premier League club said on Tuesday. Financial details of the transfer were not disclosed but British media reported West Ham paid an initial fee of 19 million pounds ($25.43 million) for the 20-year-old. Diouf was part of the Senegal team which secured a 3-1 victory over England in a friendly last month, the first African team to beat England in 22 games. The medals have the traditional Olympic five-ring symbol on one side, with an inscription on the reverse that details the event and commemorates the venue. The same format has been used for the Paralympics, which has its own distinct symbol. They were presented at a ceremony in Venice that featured two celebrated retired Italian athletes, swimmer Federica Pellegrini, and Francesca Porcellato, who has won gold medals at both Winter and Summer Paralympics. "Each medal, whether Olympic or Paralympic, is a story etched into metal: it speaks of effort, determination, sacrifice, and the hopes of those who have lived to reach the podium," said Giovanni Malago, president of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Foundation. The medals have been produced by the IPZS, the state mint, which is owned by the economy ministry. A total of 245 gold, 245 silver, and 245 bronze medals will be presented during the Winter Games. In the Paralympics, 137 medals will be awarded in each of the three rankings. Milan and the town of Cortina d'Ampezzo, one of Italy's most famous ski resorts, are the main hosts of the Games, which run from February 6 to 22 next year.
