Alexis Mac Allister gives away No.10 shirt after Florian Wirtz's angry response
Florian Wirtz has hit out at claims that he wants to take the Liverpool No.10 shirt from Alexis Mac Allister should he complete his transfer to Liverpool this summer
Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister has generously gifted his Reds No. 10 shirt - but not to Florian Wirtz.
Germany international Wirtz continues to be strongly linked with a club record breaking move to the Reds this summer, with all parties hopeful the move can be signed off in the coming days.
Both Mac Allister and Wirtz currently don the No. 10 for their respective teams, sparking rumours that Wirtz might fancy the same number at Liverpool should he make the switch to Anfield.
the man himself has dismissed the suggestions outright.
An irritated Wirtz took to Instagram on Tuesday to address the chatter, subtly suggesting a transfer might be in the pipeline while also dismissing claims about his shirt number preference:
"Who says I want the 10, I respect players," Wirtz posted. "Don't believe everything what's written [clown emoji]."
Shortly afterwards, professional Argentine Padel player Alex Chozas expressed his gratitude to Mac Allister for receiving a signed Liverpool shirt from him, Posting on Instagram, he wrote: "Thank you [Mac Allister] for this unforgettable afternoon. You now have a Padel to play with, I hope you like it!
"Thanks for your Liverpool shirt, you're a star on and off the pitch, my friend. Get well soon, CHAMPION."
With their shirts held up high for the camera, Mac Allister and Chozas shared a snapshot on social media, showcasing their mutual appreciation. The Liverpool midfielder chimed in with encouragement for his mate: "Great, crazy! Keep up the good work," penned Mac Allister.
After playing a key role in Liverpool's triumphant Premier League campaign, Mac Allister is now soaking up the summer sun.
He is currently absent from the Argentina squad as he recuperates from an injury that prevented him from starting any of the four matches Liverpool played after they secured the Premier League title, missing the last two entirely.

The former Celtic manager's time in North London was brought to an abrupt end on Friday when it was announced that he would not continue at Spurs, despite leading them to Europa League glory just over a fortnight ago. Read more: Richarlison, who has played 55 times in navy and white under Postecoglou, took to Instagram to make his feelings clear: "Mister, massive thanks for helping me out and believing in me during one of the trickiest periods of my career and my life," he said. "Everyone who loves the Spurs will remember that Big Ange always bags trophies in his second season. We've made history!Cheers and good luck on your journey! I'll always be rooting for you." Postecoglou himself penned an emotional farewell letter to the Spurs supporters. He said: "When I reflect on my time as Manager of Tottenham Hotspur, my overriding emotion is one of pride. "The opportunity to lead one of England's historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime. Sharing that experience with all those who truly love this club and seeing the impact it had on them is something I will never forget. "That night in Bilbao was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and unwavering belief in a dream. There were many challenges to overcome and plenty of noise that comes with trying to accomplish what many said was not possible. "We have also laid foundations that mean this club should not have to wait 17 more years for their next success. I have enormous faith in this group of players and know there is much more potential and growth in them. "I sincerely want to thank those who are the lifeblood of the club, the supporters. I know there were some difficult times, but I always felt that they wanted me to succeed, and that gave me all the motivation I needed to push on. It's important to acknowledge the hard-working people at Spurs who gave me encouragement on a daily basis. "And finally, I want to thank those who were with me every day for the last two years. A fantastic group of young men who are now legends of this football club, and the brilliant coaches who never once doubted we could do something special. "We are forever connected. Audere est Facere."
