Time of India14-05-2025
Global exposure has become an essential aspect of higher education, as the modern professional landscape increasingly demands individuals who can thrive in multicultural environments and collaborate across borders. With businesses operating on a global scale, students must be equipped with the skills and experiences needed to navigate diverse academic, cultural, and professional contexts. Addressing this need,
UPES
offers a structured global learning approach through international programmes, strategic partnerships, and real-world experiences—preparing students to succeed in an interconnected world.
Global Pathway Programme
The
Global Pathway Programme (GPP)
is a standout initiative that offers students the flexibility to start their academic journey at UPES and complete it at one of its prestigious international partner institutions. With options in countries like the UK, Germany, Australia, Canada, and the USA, this programme offers unmatched value and opportunity.
Students have previously continued their education at esteemed institutions such as the
University of Edinburgh
, The University of Queensland, The University of Auckland, University of Aberdeen, The University of Essex, Nottingham Trent University, and Goldsmiths, University of London, among others. For instance, BTech students have the option to pursue their final years at The University of Queensland, which ranks in the top 50 globally (QS World University Rankings 2024), or at the University of Essex, known for its excellence in data science and analytics.
UPES provides end-to-end support, from helping students shortlist universities and navigate visa processes, to offering guidance on fee structures and accommodation. One of the most impactful aspects of the program is the significant fee advantage; students can save up to 45% to 65% on total education costs, making world-class education more accessible. Additionally, students are well-prepared to face academic and cultural shifts abroad, ensuring they transition smoothly and represent UPES on the global stage.
Seamless Master's progression through global university partnerships
UPES has strategically partnered with top-ranking global universities to help students prepare for and transition into a Master's degree program, prominent among them being Cranfield University, The University of Queensland, Nottingham University, Moritz College of Law (Ohio State University),
University of Sussex
, Maurer School of Law (Indiana University Bloomington), Higher School of Economics (HSE), and Nottingham Trent University.
Driving innovation through global research collaborations
At UPES, international exposure is not confined to classrooms. From classifying bone X-ray images using convolutional neural networks (CNN) to analysing brain signals and developing smart home automation solutions, students work on cutting-edge international projects that challenge their thinking and expand their horizons. These hands-on experiences not only sharpen technical abilities but also cultivate cross-cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
UPES has collaborations with institutions such as the University of Auckland, University of Glasgow, University of Adelaide, University of Nottingham, University of Bologna, University of Gothenburg, University of Sussex, Universiti

Shaping global leaders through immersive international experiences
The Global Immersion Programme at UPES is designed to help students develop leadership acumen, foster digital thinking, and sharpen their creative and analytical abilities. These programmes place students in the heart of global business ecosystems, helping them understand market dynamics from a broader perspective.
UPES offers Summer School and Immersion programs at University of Edinburgh, King's College London, University of Gothenburg, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia, Higher School of Economics (HSE), Russia, and Nottingham Trent University.
Recently, MBA students from UPES participated in immersion programs across Norway, Malaysia, Scotland, and Singapore. Through these engagements, they explored international business practices, experienced different cultural mindsets, and developed critical leadership skills, equipping them to make an impact wherever they go.
Semester abroad and Semester Exchange Programmes
Twice a year, UPES students and faculty participate in semester abroad and semester exchange programmes with partner universities such as UC Berkeley (Berkeley Global), University of Nottingham, University of Bologna, University of Gothenburg, University of Warsaw, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Higher School of Economics (HSE), and EPITA Graduate School of Computer Science. These exchanges enable students to experience new teaching methods, interact with international peers, and gain fresh perspectives on their domains. The semester-abroad initiative offers UPES students the opportunity to study for a full semester at an international university while earning credits toward their degree. This experience allows students to immerse themselves in a new academic culture, build international networks, and explore diverse fields of study.
Student voices and impact
Shubhransi Kumar, a BA LL.B. (Hons.) student from the Class of 2025, who spent a semester at University of California, Berkeley, shares, 'Living and studying in a multicultural environment pushed me beyond my comfort zone, helped me grow into a more independent and self-aware individual, and gave me clarity about my future. From engaging academic discussions and courtroom visits to Coldplay concerts and cultural exchanges, every experience shaped me in ways I'll carry for life.'
Reflecting on her experience at The University of Edinburgh, Ananya Pandey, a BBA Global student (2024–2027), shared, 'This was an enlightening experience that provided valuable insights into the institution's offerings and academic environment. The enthusiasm of the faculty and students was infectious, making learning truly enjoyable! The immersion program left an indelible mark on me, inspiring me to push my boundaries and explore global opportunities.'
At UPES, international exposure isn't a privilege, it's a promise. A promise to shape globally competent leaders who don't just adapt to the world but lead it.

Govt's New Fast-Track Immigration Programme Sees Three Lakh Applications In A Year

Last Updated: The Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Program runs on e-gates or automated border gates to minimise human intervention in the immigration clearance process More than three lakh passengers have applied for the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Program in the last one year, officials privy to the initiative told CNN-News18. Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Program (FTI-TTP) is an initiative designed to expedite immigration clearance for eligible travellers. It runs on e-gates or automated border gates to minimise human intervention in the immigration clearance process. Currently available for Indian nationals and OCI cardholders, the cost-free programme ensures a faster, smoother, and more secure travel experience for pre-verified passengers. On June 22, 2024, the programme was launched at Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in New Delhi where eight e-gates were installed: four for arrivals and four for departures. Apart from Delhi, the initiative, in its first phase, was also introduced at seven other international airports—Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin and Ahmedabad—by January this year. Gradually, the facility is slated to cover a total of 21 airports in the country. Once the first e-gate verifies the passport and boarding pass details, the passenger will be allowed to pass through to the next e-gate. At the next e-gate, a scanner will scan your face and when the facial details are verified, the passenger's immigration process is complete and they are allowed to proceed to the boarding area. How to Register? To be eligible for TTP, applicants must ensure that their passport is valid for at least six months when applying. The registration remains valid for up to five years or until the passport's expiration, whichever occurs first. Detailing the process, the official said an applicant can apply through the government website and fill in the required details. After verification by the Bureau of Immigration, the approved passenger will receive an email or SMS to proceed. Receiving this intimation, the applicant may proceed for the biometric enrolment at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or a dedicated counter at Delhi Airport. Once the biometric details are submitted, the registration process is complete. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Trump says No deal until theres a deal after Alaska talks with Putin

Alaska [US], August 16 (ANI): US President Donald Trump on Friday (local time) said his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska was 'very productive," though a few key issues remain unresolved, with no formal deal reached yet. 'We had a very productive meeting, and there were many points that we agreed on. A couple of big ones that we haven't quite gotten there, but we made some headway. There's no deal until there's a deal, so I will call up NATO in a little while, and I will call up the various people that are appropriate. I'll, of course, call President Zelenskyy and tell him about today's meeting… We made some great progress today… We'll probably speak to you soon and hopefully see you again very soon," Trump said while speaking at a press conference alongside Putin. 'There's no deal until there's a deal," Trump said, noting that he would make calls to NATO and Kyiv.'I will call up NATO in a little while. I will call up the various people that I think are appropriate. And I'll, of course, call up President [Volodymyr] Zelenskyy and tell him about today's meeting. It's ultimately up to them," he added. The two leaders did not take questions from reporters following their joint briefing. Russia's top economic envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, said the US received Russia 'very well" in Alaska and that the two countries would continue building relations despite 'resistance." 'The US-Russia summit in Alaska has definitely been productive," Dmitriev said, adding that there were 'lots of issues that we discussed and many we agreed on," as quoted by CNN. 'Some of them are to be agreed and definitely it's very important that President Trump outlines a significant economic potential of cooperation between the US and Russia," said Dmitriev. 'We will continue building US-Russia relations going forward despite lots of resistance to this, but we will continue strengthening US-Russia ties," he added, as per CNN. (ANI)

Trump's Tariffs On India An "Unforced Error": Ex-US NSA Bolton

New York: Tariffs imposed on India by US President Donald Trump for purchases of Russian oil may have pushed New Delhi further into the Beijing-Moscow axis and this lack of focus by Washington is an "unforced error", a former top White House official has said. National security adviser during the first Trump administration John Bolton made the comments a day before the "high-stakes" summit meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska on Friday. "When Trump slapped tariffs on India for buying Russian oil, but not China which also purchases Russia oil, it may have pushed India further into the Beijing-Moscow axis. This lack of focus by the Trump Admin is an unforced error," Bolton said in a post on X on Thursday. Trump has slapped additional 25 per cent tariffs on India for its purchases of Russian oil, bringing the total levies imposed on India to 50 per cent. Experts have pointed out that Washington has not imposed similar duties on China, which buys significantly more Russian energy than Delhi. In an interview to CNN, Bolton, who was present for the first summit between Trump and Putin in Helsinki in 2018, noted that the White House has imposed secondary tariffs on countries like India for buying oil and gas from Russia. "They have slapped the 25 per cent tariff on India, although it hasn't gone into effect yet. I can tell you the reaction in India to that, particularly with no tariff slapped on China, which bought an awful lot more oil and gas from Russia, is the Indians are incandescent about this," Bolton said. Bolton referred to the possible visit by Putin to India later this year and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to China for the first time since 2018. "Obviously both Moscow and Beijing are going to try to bring India closer to them. I mean, this could have negative consequences (for the US), because it wasn't well thought through," Bolton said. Last week, when Modi had a telephone conversation with Putin, he invited the Russian leader to India later this year for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit. Modi is expected to travel to China later this month, after a gap of over seven years, to attend the Tianjin Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation to be held from August 31 to September 1.
