Israeli forces arrest Palestinian journalist in occupied West Bank
by Naharnet Newsdesk 30 April 2025, 12:12
Israel's military said it arrested Ali Samoudi, a well-known journalist, in an overnight raid in Jenin, a Palestinian city in the north of the territory.
Samoudi previously worked for international outlets including CNN and Al Jazeera. In 2022, he was injured in the same spray of gunfire that killed prominent Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh. U.S. officials say Akleh was shot dead by an Israeli sniper.
Israel's military said Samoudi was affiliated with and transferred funds for the Islamic Jihad militant group, without providing evidence. They said Samoudi had been transferred to Israel's security forces.
Samoudi's arrest is the latest of dozens of Palestinian journalists detained by Israel since the start Israel's war with Hamas, which began on Oct. 7,2023.

Hezbollah strongly condemned the Israeli aggression on Iran on Friday, affirming that the Zionist enemy has crossed all the red lines. In a statement, Hezbollah's Media Relations warned that the Israeli aggression on the Islamic Republic of Iran 'represents a dangerous escalation in the Zionist entity's course of evading all rules under full cover by the United States.' 'The Israeli enemy crossed all red lines, but will discover that the Iranian nation will stick to its rights and will defend its dignity.' The attack on the Islamic Republic 'proves that the enemy does not abide by laws and that it only knows the language of killing, fire, and destruction.' 'The Israeli enemy commits foolish acts as it carries out adventures that risks to ignite the entire region,' the Lebanese resistance group warned. Hezbollah said that all the efforts made over the past period to maintain stability and security in the region were undermined by the Israeli enemy government, 'exposing regional and international security to grave risks, the repercussions of which could lead to undesirable consequences.' 🚨 ISRAEL IS ATTACKING IRAN!
