New on Paramount Plus this month — all the new shows and movies to watch

Tom's Guide29-06-2025
Paramount Plus adds tons of new shows and movies every month, and this July is no different.
Leading the pack on the streaming service this month are a pair of hit original franchises back with new episodes.
"Dexter: Resurrection" continues the "Dexter" franchise, picking up mere weeks after the events of "Dexter: New Blood." But we've abandoned the small town of Iron Lake, New York, and are headed for the Big Apple in this new spin-off.
Later in the month, "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" returns for its third season. The prequel series premieres on July 17, and if you ask any "Trek" fan, they'll tell you that you don't want to miss it.
Here's everything new on Paramount Plus this month, starting with our top picks. If you need more to watch, check out these five highly-rated movies that arrived on Paramount Plus last month.
"Dexter" has been a massive hit for Paramount. The Showtime original series about the titular vigilante serial killer has spawned 10 seasons of television across three shows, including this latest spin-off.
"Dexter: Resurrection" picks up weeks after the events of "New Blood," in which Dexter (Michael C. Hall) miraculously recovered from a gunshot wound.
Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.
But when he wakes in his hospital bed to find Miami PD Captain Angel Batista (David Zayas) waiting to bring him to justice, he ditches the small town of Iron Lake, New York, and heads for New York City to disappear — and find his missing son, Harrison (Jack Alcott).
Premieres July 11 on Paramount Plus Premium
"Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" stars Anson Mount as Christopher Pike, captain of the USS Enterprise.
Now, if that name — and that ship — sound familiar, that's because they're both famously from "Star Trek: The Original Series." This series is a prequel to that groundbreaking sci-fi show, set in the decade prior.
Because it's a prequel, Captain Pike isn't the only familiar name. Spock (Ethan Peck), Number One (Rebecca Romijn) and several other characters have returned. The season 2 finale even saw the arrival of Starfleet engineer Montgomery Scott (Martin Quinn).
Season 3 will cover the third year of the Enterprise's five-year mission, marking the midpoint of the series. If you have loved "Star Trek" in the past, it's time to return to the fold for "Strange New Worlds" if you haven't already.
Premieres July 17 on Paramount Plus
I'm not a huge reality TV fan, but I make a few exceptions.
"The Traitors," of course, is one. But "The Challenge" was the first competition show I really got into.
For those who have never seen "The Challenge," the reality competition show pits dozens of competitors against each other in grueling tasks and brutal eliminations. But the show's secret sauce is the drama between competitors we see play out in the house once the day's events are over.
Lately, it's been a show more about athletic prowess than social game, which is why I've come to love "The Challenge: All Stars." This version of the show features older stars from seasons past who know your social game matters as much as your physical strength.
Because all the "All Stars" are veterans, they also bring plenty of baggage when they come to compete. In season 5, the competitors are paired with one of their historic rivals, and you'll have to tune in to see who can stand to work with each other and who still holds a grudge.
Watch it on Paramount Plus starting July 16

Paramount's (NASDAQ:PARA) Q2 Earnings Results: Revenue In Line With Expectations

Multinational media and entertainment corporation Paramount (NASDAQ:PARA) met Wall Street's revenue expectations in Q2 CY2025, but sales were flat year on year at $6.85 billion. Its non-GAAP profit of $0.46 per share was 24.6% above analysts' consensus estimates. Is now the time to buy Paramount? Find out in our full research report. Paramount (PARA) Q2 CY2025 Highlights: Revenue: $6.85 billion vs analyst estimates of $6.86 billion (flat year on year, in line) Adjusted EPS: $0.46 vs analyst estimates of $0.37 (24.6% beat) Adjusted EBITDA: $824 million vs analyst estimates of $749.8 million (12% margin, 9.9% beat) Operating Margin: 5.8%, up from -78.1% in the same quarter last year Free Cash Flow Margin: 1.7%, up from 0.1% in the same quarter last year Market Capitalization: $8.74 billion Company Overview Owner of Spongebob Squarepants and formerly known as ViacomCBS, Paramount Global (NASDAQ:PARA) is a major media conglomerate offering television, film production, and digital content across various global platforms. Revenue Growth A company's long-term sales performance can indicate its overall quality. Even a bad business can shine for one or two quarters, but a top-tier one grows for years. Unfortunately, Paramount's 2.3% annualized revenue growth over the last five years was weak. This was below our standards and is a rough starting point for our analysis. Long-term growth is the most important, but within consumer discretionary, product cycles are short and revenue can be hit-driven due to rapidly changing trends and consumer preferences. Paramount's performance shows it grew in the past but relinquished its gains over the last two years, as its revenue fell by 2% annually. We can better understand the company's revenue dynamics by analyzing its three most important segments: TV Media, Direct-to-Consumer, and Filmed Entertainment, which are 58.6%, 31.5%, and 10.1% of revenue. Over the last two years, Paramount's TV Media revenue (broadcasting) averaged year-on-year declines of 8.1%. On the other hand, its Direct-to-Consumer revenue (streaming) averaged year-on-year growth of 0.8% while its Direct-to-Consumer revenue (streaming) was flat. This quarter, Paramount's $6.85 billion of revenue was flat year on year and in line with Wall Street's estimates. Looking ahead, sell-side analysts expect revenue to decline by 1.7% over the next 12 months, similar to its two-year rate. This projection doesn't excite us and suggests its newer products and services will not accelerate its top-line performance yet. Unless you've been living under a rock, it should be obvious by now that generative AI is going to have a huge impact on how large corporations do business. While Nvidia and AMD are trading close to all-time highs, we prefer a lesser-known (but still profitable) stock benefiting from the rise of AI. Click here to access our free report one of our favorites growth stories. Operating Margin Paramount's operating margin has risen over the last 12 months, but it still averaged negative 5.7% over the last two years. This is due to its large expense base and inefficient cost structure. In Q2, Paramount generated an operating margin profit margin of 5.8%, up 83.9 percentage points year on year. This increase was a welcome development and shows it was more efficient. Earnings Per Share We track the long-term change in earnings per share (EPS) for the same reason as long-term revenue growth. Compared to revenue, however, EPS highlights whether a company's growth is profitable. Sadly for Paramount, its EPS declined by 23.5% annually over the last five years while its revenue grew by 2.3%. This tells us the company became less profitable on a per-share basis as it expanded. In Q2, Paramount reported adjusted EPS at $0.46, down from $0.54 in the same quarter last year. Despite falling year on year, this print easily cleared analysts' estimates. Over the next 12 months, Wall Street expects Paramount's full-year EPS of $1.13 to grow 19.2%. Key Takeaways from Paramount's Q2 Results We enjoyed seeing Paramount beat analysts' EPS expectations this quarter. We were also happy its EBITDA outperformed Wall Street's estimates. On the other hand, its Direct-to-Consumer revenue missed. Overall, we think this was still a solid quarter with some key areas of upside. The stock remained flat at $12.50 immediately following the results. So should you invest in Paramount right now? We think that the latest quarter is just one piece of the longer-term business quality puzzle. Quality, when combined with valuation, can help determine if the stock is a buy. We cover that in our actionable full research report which you can read here, it's free. 'Drag Race's pickled poet: Jorgeous tweets that deserve a Pulitzer

She's Muggy. She's Pickled. She's Just Looking For The Best Soup. Paramount+ Jorgeous on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 10. From the moment that Jorgeous stepped into the werk room of RuPaul's Drag Race season 14, it was impossible not to recognize that we had a legitimate poet, certified scholar, and wise deity in our presence. According to reports, the edit purposely left out moments of Jorgeous schooling the girls on quantum mechanics, cutting-edge scientific breakthroughs, and the importance of playing with one's pet — particularly a cat, or kitten — to advocate for the mental health of animals. Thankfully, Drag Race fans saw right through this concerning cover-up of Jorgeous' brilliance. As noted in the X post below, "Every tweet Jorgeous sends feels like a forbidden ancient text. A transmission from a far away world. An omen uttered in a dream." Kudos for saying that, @anxiousdeluxe. For spilling. No one's doing it like Jorgeous, and we're lucky to be in her (online) presence. So sit comfortably, relax, grab a pen and paper. The time has come to read, reflect on, and take in all of the wisdom that Jorgeous has graciously shared with the world. Charlamagne tha God lauds book reveal, shares skepticism about Harris in 2028

Charlamagne tha God shared skepticism on the possibility of another White House bid from former Vice President Harris on Thursday but encouraged her to connect with people by publishing a book. 'I don't know if she should run again, but I definitely would like to see her write a book. I definitely would like to see her start a podcast and just build a real connection with people,' Charlamagne said during a Thursday episode of 'The Breakfast Club.' 'And she is relatively young. I just don't know what's going to happen in 2028, man. I just think Democrats suck so bad. I don't know,' he added. Some have speculated Harris is planning to enter the presidential race in 2028, where her Democratic opponents could range from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) to California Gov. Gavin Newsom. 'I think Kamala can definitely be a leader in the Democratic Party. And I mean, I think the interesting thing about the former VP is I kind of like that strategy,' Charlamagne told listeners. On Wednesday, Harris announced she would not launch a bid for governor in the Golden State. However, she also promoted her new book ' 107 Days,' focused on the behind-the-scenes of the campaign trail she undertook months after former President Biden dropped out of the race. In the past, Charlamagne lauded Harris for reviving a ' dead ' campaign but said President Trump captured audiences and spoke to voter grievances better. Harris is expected to give her first formal post-election remarks in a Thursday interview on 'The Late Show' with Stephen Colbert. Colbert, whose show is ending next year, has been critical of both Trump and his network CBS's parent company, Paramount, in a lawsuit Trump brought against '60 Minutes' over its editing of an interview with Harris.
