Chiefs eye Sundowns star, while bidding for Young African's star!
Kaizer Chiefs have reignited their interest in Mamelodi Sundowns defender Terrence Mashego, who was left off the squad currently playing at the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Mamelodi-born defender failed to solidify a starting role this season as Miguel Cardoso prioritised Aubrey Modiba, Divine Lunga and Asekho Tiwani. According to sources close to the player, Mashego is keen on a move away in order to secure minutes next season.
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs are eyeing Young Africans attacking midfielder Maxi Ngenzeli.
'At the moment the club has not yet signed some of the players who they want nor those they are looking at. It's believed that they are spreading the search wide so that they can get the kind of players they really need this season,' an inside source said.
'Apparently, Maxwell Nzengeli is one player they are also looking at. Coach Nabi knows him already, and the scouts and recruiters are also believed to have liked him and are looking at the possibility of getting him, depending on the conditions around the transfer.'
Another player on their radar is SuperSport left-back Neo Rapoo.
'Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are both keen to sign SuperSport United left-back Neo Rapoo ahead of the new season,' a source revealed.
'His performances as he led South Africa U20 to the Africa Cup of Nations title earned him interest in Scandinavia and the Gulf but sources as Matsatsansa have confirmed Chiefs and Pirates are both seriously after the player who is seen as future senior national team left-back.'
'With Orlando Pirates having released Paseka Mako and the retirement of Innocent Maela, their interest on the promising full-back comes as no surprise, while Kaizer Chiefs are looking to remedy a position that has plagued them in the last couple of seasons.'

Ex-Pirates quartet headlines Chippa United mass exodus!
Former Orlando Pirates quartet of Andile Jali, Bienvenu Eva Nga, Craig Martin and Justice Chabalala have been released by Chippa United. The four players headline a list of 15 players axed by Chippa United ahead of the 2025-26 PSL season. For Jali, this doesn't come as a huge surprise given that rumours had already been there that he would be axed. The same can be said about Eva Nga whose agent was on record to say they had been in talks with the Chilli Boys over a possible renewal. This was when reports suggested that Eva Nga could be moving to Kaizer Chiefs as one of their newest strikers next season. Meanwhile, Siphelo Baloni will return to parent club Pirates as he was on a season-long loan deal. Also on the list of returnees are Aphelele Teto (Livingston of Scottland) and Sonwabile Khumalo (Orbit College). Now, newly-appointed coach Sinethemba Badela will have to go to the market to sign new players for the club. Chippa United release 15 players, including four former Orlando Pirates players. Sundowns begin Club World Cup with midnight clash against Ulsan – Dortmund and Fluminense await
Sundown vs the world Mamelodi Sundowns will get their FIFA Club World Cup underway when they take on Ulsan HD in Orlando at midnight. Photo: Mohamed Tageldin/Middle East Images via AFP Image: Mohamed Tageldin/Middle East Images via AFP Perennial South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns will get their FIFA Club World Cup campaign up and running when they take on South Korean outfit Ulsan HD in Orlando, Florida. South African fans who want to watch the game will have to stay up well into the early hours of Wednesday morning, as the game kicks off at midnight. And for Sundowns' goalkeeper coach Kennedy Mweene, it's up to the team to show they are there to compete and not just make up the numbers. Mweene was part of the Sundowns squad during the Club World Cup in 2016. Back then, the Pitso Mosimane-coached team were out of their depth and were knocked out of the main competition by Japan's Kashima Antlers following a 2-0 loss. But Mweene, now a member of the club's technical staff, is a little more confident going into this year's competition in the United States. "The team has been growing in leaps and bounds,' Mweene was quoted by KickOff in the lead-up to their opening match. "With four teams, it gives us a chance as Africa as well, even though we are still crying about the number,' said the 40-year-old. "Nevertheless, I think we just have to go and show our case… We know that it won't be easy. It is a high-profile tournament, and everyone knows what we are going there to do. "It won't be easy, but we have to showcase our talent in South Africa and Africa at large." Abafana baStyle are also in Group F alongside German powerhouse Borussia Dortmund as well as Brazilian club Fluminense. Dortmund qualified for the competition as the third-best ranked eligible team in the UEFA four-year ranking, and will be a tough prospect for Miguel Cardoso's men, while Fluminense won the 2023 Copa Libertadores, and will be no walk in the park. Sundowns' game against Dortmund is this Saturday in Cincinnati, and they round up the group stage when they take on Fluminense at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium next Wednesday. IOL Sport

CONFIRMED: Kaizer Chiefs target FIFA Club World Cup reject!
Kaizer Chiefs have returned their sights on Mamelodi Sundowns defender Terrence Mashego after failing to land the 28-year-old in January. Mashego, who amassed only four league appearances last campaign, has not travelled with the FIFA Club World Cup squad to America, insinuating that the club are hoping to offload the former Cape Town City star, who is reportedly equally as keen on an exit. Another defender Kaizer Chiefs are hoping to lure is SuperSport United's Neo Rapoo. The 19-year-old is looking like a hot commodity this offseason. 'Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are both keen to sign SuperSport United left-back Neo Rapoo ahead of the new season,' a source revealed. 'His performances as he led South Africa U20 to the Africa Cup of Nations title earned him interest in Scandinavia and the Gulf but sources as Matsatsansa have confirmed Chiefs and Pirates are both seriously after the player who is seen as future senior national team left-back.' 'With Orlando Pirates having released Paseka Mako and the retirement of Innocent Maela, their interest on the promising full-back comes as no surprise, while Kaizer Chiefs are looking to remedy a position that has plagued them in the last couple of seasons.' In other news, Kaizer Chiefs have rewarded veteran midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa with a two-year extension, keeping him at the club until 2028. 'The club has already taken the initiative to keep the midfielder for two more years,' a source said. 'The talks are believed to have started before the end of the season. But apparently things are looking good. It will all now depend on what both parties are looking at. But the talks are open.' Another source reaffirmed the news, saying, 'Yes, he didn't start well under coach Nasreddine Nabi. We think he didn't understand him. But now they [Kaizer Chiefs] are happy with him and that's why they are offering him a two-year deal.' 'If all goes well and they agree on new terms it will start from next year until June 2028.'
