BOSSING IT I started a new job but a colleague who lost out on my role is cold and rude – what can I do?
APPRENTICE star and West Ham United vice-chair Karren Brady answers your careers questions.
Here, Karren gives advice to a reader who wants to get back into an in-house role after years of freelance work.
Q) I recently started a new job and everyone seems really nice, except for one woman who is at the same managerial level as me, but in a different department.
She has been very cold towards me, makes a point of speaking over me in meetings and is really abrupt whenever I talk to her.

A colleague mentioned this woman unsuccessfully applied for my role, so I wonder if that is what's fuelling this attitude.
I'm not sure what to do, as I don't want to make an enemy of her by going to HR, but I'm starting to dread coming into the office.
Do you have any advice?
Bella, via email
A) It's understandable that you're feeling uncomfortable – navigating tension with a colleague can be challenging, especially in a new role.
If her behaviour is being driven by disappointment over not getting the job, it's likely more about her than it is you.
Find a calm moment to have a direct but non-confrontational conversation, acknowledging any awkwardness and expressing a desire to work together professionally.
Approach her with empathy, while also setting clear boundaries.
Talk through examples of how her behaviour – such as not listening to your input, speaking over you in meetings and being abrupt – makes you feel undermined and disrespected.

Also, give examples of interactions she has had with other colleagues, where she has been more respectful, to show her that the way she treats you is different.
Sometimes, simply addressing the tension can shift the dynamic.
Above all, protect your own wellbeing – no one should dread coming into work.
With time and professionalism, the situation may ease, especially as you establish yourself in your role.

Dani Dyer's dream of 'honeymoon baby' after vowing to have more kids
Dani Dyer and West Ham United footballer Jarrod Bowen may have only just tied the knot, but an insider has now revealed it could be the 'perfect time' to try for another baby Dani Dyer and Jarrod Bowen tied the knot in a lavish countryside ceremony at the weekend, surrounded by their nearest and dearest and are reportedly already thinking about growing their sweet family again. The couple, who are already proud parents to twin daughters Summer and Star, both two and four-year-old Santiago from Dani's previous relationship, would reportedly 'love more kids'. Now, sources have claimed that the newlyweds are already planning to have more children with one another. But things have been carefully planned around the football season due to Jarrod's commitments with West Ham United and his national team duty. A source claimed to Heat: 'They were planning a family holiday after the football season ended, but now they've extended their honeymoon, so they can have some alone time together. Then they'll do another holiday with the kids.' The source went on to claim: 'They've both said they'd have more kids while they're still young, so now could be the perfect time to try for another'. Dani gave a honeymoon update before the lavish wedding and revealed they would be having a romantic honeymoon in Italy without their young children, joking that a holiday with three children is 'not a holiday'. The reality star said: 'For the honeymoon, we're going to take a short four-day break just for us. A holiday with three kids is definitely not a holiday, so we need a little time for ourselves to recharge' Dani added that the trip was 'up in the air' as they were unsure if Jarrod would be working the weekend after the wedding and playing football for England. The source added that Jarrod isn't going to be working now, so Dani thought about 'extending their break'. Dani has previously shared her hesitations towards having more children as she joked: 'Four kids is a lot and my car would have to be even bigger than it is now'. She added that she 'might' have more babies in the future, but 'for now' she is focusing on herself. The couple's love story began in late 2021 when they were simply neighbours. Friendship quickly blossomed into something more, and the former Love Island winner and professional footballer quickly became inseparable. Their family life expanded in May 2023 with the birth of twin daughters, Summer and Star, before a romantic proposal in July 2024. After nearly three years of dating, Dani and Jarrod announced their engagement during a stunning trip to Ibiza. The couple's wedding took place in June 2025 at the luxurious Langley Hotel in Buckinghamshire, with Dani's father, EastEnders legend Danny Dyer, walking her down the aisle. Dani's white off-the-shoulder gown by British designer Suzanne Neville cost a whopping £10,000 and was paid for by her parents. She later shared a video on her social media with highlights from the special day, including when her dad first saw her as a bride, the reception and the blushing bridesmaids.

Dani Dyer confirms who mother-in-law voted for on Love Island in major twist
Former Love Island star Dani Dyer shocked viewers when she revealed that her new mother-in-law actually voted for her and her ex-boyfriend, Jack Fincham to win Love Island in 2018 Dani Dyer has revealed who Jarrod Bowen's mother voted for on Love Island. The reality star, who recently tied the knot, appeared on the ITV special, Love Island: Decade Of Love, where she revealed that her new mother-in-law actually voted for her and fellow islander Jack Fincham to win the show. Ahead of a brand new series, Love Island shared a special episode where they celebrated an entire decade of the show, with many surprise guests commentating on old clips. The show marked Dani's first TV appearance, although it was pre-recorded, since she officially tied the knot with her footballer boyfriend Jarrod Bowen in a romantic ceremony on Saturday, 31 May. As Dani watched old Love Island clips with her friend Samira Mighty, she revealed that her now mother-in-law was actually rooting for Jack and Dani to win as a couple. She said: "My mother-in-law voted for me and Jack to win Love Island," leaving fellow former islander Samira shocked. Entering the villa as a 21-year-old barmaid, Dani quickly became a fan favourite with her down-to-earth personality and relatable charm. Dani and Jack ended up winning the 2018 series by a mile with 79.66% of the vote. Post-show, they moved in together, adopted a puppy, and began filming a reality series about their life. However, just six months later, Dani announced their split, stating they had realised the relationship wasn't meant to be long-term. Seven years on from stepping foot in the Love Island villa and Dani is now living her own fairytale with her family. The reality star began dating West Ham United footballer Jarrod Bowen in 2021, and the couple went on to welcome twin daughters, Star and Summer, in May 2023. One year later, they announced their engagement in July 2024 and have just tied the knot in a ceremony at the end of May 2025, which was attended by close family and friends. Dani's father, former Eastenders actor Danny Dyer, walked her down the aisle while two-year-old twin daughters, Summer and Star, were flower girls. Dani's four-year-old son Santiago, whom she shares with her ex Sammy Kimmence, was also a page boy. The bride and groom and all their guests dressed to impress for the ceremony in the British countryside. Dani's white off-the-shoulder gown by British designer Suzanne Neville cost a whopping £10,000 and was paid for by Danny and her mum. Love Island returns to screens on June 9.
