The 26-year-old said earlier this week that his father "definitely made me lost my control" but that he regretted the messy nature of their break-up. "I think I have to be strict with him. Sometimes I feel like he wants to do too many things on his own," Tsitsipas said.

Canada's McIntosh hungry for more after world championship success
Aug 3 (Reuters) - Canadian sensation Summer McIntosh fell just short in her quest to match Michael Phelps's feat of winning five individual gold medals at a single world championships but that has given her the motivation to improve even more. McIntosh won the 400 metres individual medley (IM) title on the final day of the world championships in Singapore on Sunday, adding to her 200 IM, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle golds that saw her named the best female swimmer of the meeting. The three-times Olympic champion's only failure to stand atop the podium in an individual event came in the 800 freestyle, in which she finished with bronze as American great Katie Ledecky took the victory. "I think it was very obvious that my goal was five golds. Time just didn't matter. I just wanted to get my hand on the wall the first five times," McIntosh said of her campaign. "I fell short of that but I think it's just going to keep me hungry and push, and keep moving forward. "I think this meet, I learned more than any other meet ever. And that says a lot. The thing I'm learning from the most is the bronze and 800 freestyle. And that's going to keep me hungry moving into next season and into LA (Los Angeles Olympics)." McIntosh has plenty to be proud of, however, as she became just the third swimmer to win five individual medals at a world championships after Phelps and Swede Sarah Sjostrom. The 18-year-old, who also swam for Canada in the 4x100 medley relay on Sunday, said she had never had such a challenging programme, adding: "I've never done a double before, also doing five individual events. "I've never done that before, let alone one of them being the 800. My sleep has never been this good. I've never been a good sleeper during meets. I've been able to relax and have amazing sleep. "Overall, happy with my meet but always want more. I'm just going to celebrate my wins and kind of take a reset heading into next season. The negatives, I'm going to apply to next season."

Farrell in 'really good place' to lead Lions again
Andy Farrell has put himself in a strong position to take charge of the British and Irish Lions in New Zealand in 2029, according to Lions coached the Lions to a 2-1 series victory over Australia, winning the first two Tests but missing out on a whitewash after being overwhelmed 22-12 by the Wallabies in Sydney on executive Ben Calveley says Farrell's strong track record with the Lions will be a factor when they come to choose their next head coach, for the series against the All Blacks in four years' time."He's put himself in a really good place," Calveley told BBC Sport."You would always take someone's track record into account and the fact that Andy has been successful, not just here but he's undefeated when you look at the two previous occasions he's been on the Lions tour as part of the coaching ticket [in 2013 and 2017 as an assistant]."But we'll run a thorough a robust process and we'll see there where that takes us."Farrell was non-committal when asked about the prospect of taking charge again in 2029, but said his affinity with the concept runs deep."I love everything the Lions is about and I have thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed the last eight weeks," he said following the series."Four years is a long time between drinks."The Englishman is due to return to his role as head coach of Ireland for their autumn Test matches after taking a sabbatical from the post to lead the 50-year-old has a contract with Ireland until the end of the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. Tour revamp possible - Calveley Meanwhile, Calveley says there are no plans to move away from the traditional touring destinations of Australia, New Zealand and South he admitted the Lions could face international teams such as Japan or Fiji before the Test series in order to bolster the tour matches, which were largely underwhelming in Australia."We are not looking to make any changes [to Australia, South Africa and New Zealand] at the moment," Calveley said."I think the way that we could build relationships with new countries is through the different parts of the tour."So we look at it in three ways: the pre-tour piece - the Argentina game in Dublin - the tour matches, and the Test matches themselves."What we could continue to do is play against new and interesting opponents in that pre-tour piece."You might be able to do some of that on tour as well, so can you bring in a Japan or a Fiji for example for some of those non-Test matches. And then you leave the Test series alone."So we are looking for new and interesting ways to configure the schedule. We'll have a look at many different options."

Royals' Salvador Perez aims to ride power surge vs. Jays
August 3 - Salvador Perez is on a homer binge, and the visiting Kansas City Royals would like the trend to continue Sunday afternoon in the rubber match of their three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays. The teams have split the first two contests of their series, with Perez hitting a home run in each game. His second homer of the series came against Max Scherzer in the sixth inning of Toronto's 4-2 victory on Saturday. Perez also hit his first career homer against Scherzer on Aug. 29, 2011. He has 11 home runs in his past 21 games. "We need him and other guys to do it, too," Royals manager Matt Quatraro said. "You provide power in the middle of the lineup, and that is a big threat at any time." Perez became the first Royals player to have nine seasons with 20 or more home runs. Hall of Famer George Brett had eight. With 293 career home runs, he is close to becoming the eighth catcher to reach 300 in his career. The Royals are going for a series win that would give them a good start to their nine-game road trip. They hope that scheduled starter Seth Lugo (8-5, 3.03 ERA) can continue his success against the Blue Jays. The right-hander is 3-1 with a 2.21 ERA in 20 1/3 innings over six career games (two starts) against them. The Blue Jays, who lead the American League East by four games, are expected to counter with right-hander Chris Bassitt (11-5, 4.24). In seven career starts against Kansas City, he is 1-2 with a 3.92 ERA in 39 innings. The Royals picked up two more injuries on Saturday. Second baseman Jonathan India was hit by a pitch on his left wrist and forearm in the third inning. He left the game in the fifth. "It's just a contusion," Quatraro said. "We got an X-ray and nothing is broken. Just sore. He has been battling that wrist, anyway, and he was hit there again." Reliever Steven Cruz left in the seventh with discomfort in his right shoulder and he will have further evaluation. "He felt a little pinching," Quatraro said. "Just kind of some normal throwing discomfort." Blue Jays catcher Tyler Heineman left the game in the fourth inning with what was termed a head contusion. He took a foul ball off his mask in the third inning and was hit on the hand by a pitch in the bottom of the third. Toronto manager John Schneider said that early indications were that he did not have a concussion. "It's more of a head contusion," Schneider said. "When I went out there, it was more kind of a headache, and his jaw got it a little bit. So, we will check him out (Sunday) and, hopefully, dodge a bullet. But he is doing all right." With catcher Alejandro Kirk on the concussion injured list, Ali Sanchez took over behind the plate. Kirk is expected to return to action on Sunday. "(Heineman) wanted to keep going, felt like he could keep going and, unfortunately, you've got to take it out of their hands sometimes," Schneider said. Toronto outfielder George Springer also is out with a concussion after being hit by a pitch against the Baltimore Orioles last week. The Blue Jays returned from a 4-4 road trip for a short homestand.
