State of NH settles wrongful death lawsuit with Elijah Lewis' father
The state of New Hampshire has reached a settlement with the family of Elijah Lewis
Lewis was killed by his mother and found dead in a Massachusetts park in 2021.
The boy's father filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the state, alleging that DCFY failed to act when the boy's safety was called into question.
Timothy Lewis claimed in the lawsuit that New Hampshire's Division for Children, Youth and Families was negligent and failed to keep his son safe while the boy lived with his mother, Dauphinais.
The settlement reached is worth 2.25 million dollars, the same amount that the Granite State settled with the mother of Harmony Montgomery.
Under the terms of the settlement, the state doesn't have to admit any wrongdoing or unlawful conduct.
Elijah Lewis' mother pleaded guilty and is serving more than 50 years to life in prison.
Crews searched for the boy before finding his body several miles away in a shallow grave in a state park in Abington, Massachusetts. His death was ruled a homicide.

An autopsy later determined the boy died of 'violence and neglect, including facial and scalp injuries, acute fentanyl intoxication, malnourishment and pressure ulcers.'

‘This kind of behavior will not be tolerated': Hampton police investigating shots fired reports
The Hampton Police Department has launched an investigation following reports of shots fired in town. Police say that on Thursday night, around 7:35 PM, officers were dispatched to the area of Ocean Boulevard and G Street to the sounds of shots fired. Numerous officers quickly responded and set up a perimeter and closed down the area. Police were able to locate a firearm and take a person matching the description of a suspect into custody. 'Tonight, several officers ran toward the sound of gunfire and quickly rendered the area safe.' Said Hampton Chief Alex Reno. 'I'm thankful that there were no injuries and thankful for the officers who did not hesitate to immediately respond to the threat. While these situations are extremely rare, this kind of behavior will not be tolerated, and those involved will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.' At this time, police say there is no threat to the public and that some parts of Ocean Boulevard have been reopened. Milford High School student receives warm welcome after returning home from ICE custody
Hanging out of the car with excitement, Marcelo Gomes da Silva couldn't wait to return home to Milford on Thursday after spending six days in ICE custody. 'The only thing I wanted to do when I got back here was hug my parents, my dad, yeah, my dad means the world to me,' said Marcelo Gomes da Silva. It was a warm welcome back with a crowd of friends and his family in tears as they embraced for the first time in nearly a week. Marcelo was on his way to volleyball practice last Saturday morning when ICE took him into custody. ICE officials have said his father was the intended target, and now Marcelo says his dad is afraid to leave the house. 'He's like in a prison now himself, thank God it's in his own house, but he knows if he leaves there's a chance ICE will try to find him and get him, like to be honest, I left my house they were already following me,' said Gomes da Silva. Marcelo says ICE took him into custody because he's here on an expired visa. 'I came here when I was six, so like I know I'm an immigrant in America, but like I'm in school, I never expected it to get to that point,' said Gomes da Silva. Since his arrest, this honors student missed out on playing the drums for graduation and a volleyball playoff match Tuesday night. 'Can't believe we lost that volleyball game,' said Gomes da Silva. 'I can't wait to get back to school, I got finals!' As he tries to get back to his life heading into his senior year at Milford High, Marcelo wears a reminder on his wrist of the conditions inside the ICE facility. 'This is a bracelet that was gifted to me from a Brazilian inmate in there,' said Gomes da Silva. It's a piece of the aluminum sheets he used to sleep on a concrete floor. Marcelo also says he hadn't showered in 6 days. 'I'll always be grateful for everything I have outside of that place,' said Gomes da Silva. Standing outside the detention facility in Burlington, Marcelo hopes his case will bring awareness to the issues around immigration. 'If I'm the only one that was able to leave that place, I lost because I want to do whatever I can to get them as much help as possible,' said Gomes da Silva. Boston police arrests 13 individuals in connection with sexual exploitation
The Boston Police Department has announced the arrests of thirteen suspects in an attempt to combat sexual exploitation against women. On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, members of the Human Trafficking Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, the Massachusetts State Police Special Services Section – High Risk Victims Squad, and the FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force conducted an operation in the area of the South Bay Mall, where undercover officers were used to identify suspects. The following individuals were arrested and charged with Sex for a Fee: Abshir Mohamed, 31, of Roxbury Jose Diaz Belen, 58, of Dorchester David Pingley, 61, of Boston Jose Lopez Rodriguez, 34, of Springfield, Vermont Guillermo Prudencio, 45, of Revere Bruce Weinstein, 68, of Dorchester Timothy Smith, 62, of Dorchester Sumanth Subbanna, 27, of Boston Nacius Magis, 29, of Boston Shawndee Josephs, 27, of Revere Yeison Arias Lara, 33, of Mattapan David Lora, 46, of Milton Jason Armengol, 32, of Jacksonville, Florida. He was also charged with Possession of Class B and had an active warrant for Violation of an Abuse Prevention Order.
