'It's a huge honor to be here with the team for this Club World Cup, especially with the new format that brings together numerous clubs and stars from around the world. This edition is truly special, and I'm proud to be part of it,' Fathi said with enthusiasm.
The 30-year-old midfielder explained that his return to the squad was a well-considered decision, stating: 'My participation in this edition was decided in coordination with the club president, Mahmoud El-Khatib. I am very grateful for his trust and support. Playing in this World Cup is both an honor and a responsibility that I take very seriously.'
Fathy highlighted how warmly he was welcomed in the squad's locker rooms. 'Honestly, I never felt like I was absent. The atmosphere with the players is incredible; we respect and appreciate each other a lot. I'm happy to be back among my brothers.'
Additionally, he outlined a clear mission: "My goal is to be a genuine asset for the team. We all share the same dream: to represent Ahly with pride, advance past the group stage, and go as far as possible in the tournament."
Ahead of their opener against Lionel Messi's Inter Miami, Fathy emphasised the squad's focus: "We're fully concentrated and ready to represent Ahly properly. We know the competition will be tough, but we're preparing meticulously. The motivation and determination are there."
The international midfield star also acknowledged the crucial role of the Red Devils' supporters. "I know Ahly fans always stand by their team. I tell them we have a squad capable of competing with Europe's best. We truly hope to see them in large numbers for the first match – their support makes all the difference."
Fathy concluded by reassuring fans of the team's determination. 'We promise to give everything to achieve results that meet expectations. I am sure we can go far in this competition. Ahly is a great club, and we are ready to prove it to the world.'
The African giants will kick off their campaign against American side Inter Miami on Sunday in Group A that also includes Portuguese club Porto and Brazilian side Palmeiras.

Jamaica's Kishane Thompson exacted a measure of revenge by beating Olympic champion Noah Lyles over 100m at the Silesia Diamond League meet on Saturday. "I needed to see winning, beating people, I took out some really big heads today, people who run 9.7 and 9.8. "I am getting the confidence. It makes me really excited for not only today, but also for next week and Tokyo." Lyles was drawn in lane seven, outside Bednarek and inside Christian Coleman, with Thompson in five and South African Akani Simbine to his left. But it was Thompson who stole the march in hot and humid conditions, rocketing out of his blocks to leave the field in his wake for a true gun-to-tape display. Lyles had the joint slowest reaction of the nine-man line-up and looked to be out of even a podium finish from the start before he came through strongly over the closing 20 metres to pinch second place from Bednarek. Thompson's winning time matched the 9.87sec meet record jointly held by Americans Ronnie Baker and Fred Kerley. It did not quite match the world-leading 9.75sec he set at the Jamaican trials in June, a time which puts him sixth on the all-time list.
