Uncovered: Australia's top 20 hidden natural wonders worth the detour
While everyone has their own idea of a ' hidden gem ', the crew at Mitsubishi Motors crunched the numbers to find the real deal. They sorted through more than 50,000 Aussie attractions on TripAdvisor, filtering out the big-ticket spots, before landing on a top 20 list of secret natural hotspots – all with high ratings, but barely any online searches.
It's no secret Aussies love chasing waterfalls, so we're not surprised that a hidden waterfall, Gunlom Falls, claims the title of Australia's top hidden gem. Although technically an under-the-radar landmark, this stunning 85-metre waterfall in the Top End is no stranger to the spotlight, having played a starring role in Crocodile Dundee. It's received a lot of media attention lately too, after Kakadu National Park announced its plans to reopen the waterfall on July 4 after a six-year closure.
We're all about sharing secrets, so after swimming in the lower plunge pool, climb the steep trail to the top of the falls, where a series of magical infinity rock pools await.
Funnily, our top pick for the best thing to do in Brisbane is also considered Australia's second-best-kept secret location. That title goes to Mount Coot-tha Summit Lookout – Brisbane's highest point, offering panoramic city views that are especially stunning at sunrise and sunset. Queensland claimed seven of the top 20 spots, with K'gari 's 75 Mile Beach ranking third and Cooktown's Grassy Hill Lookout rounding out the top five.

Disney and Universal dethroned as top theme parks by little-known rival
In a big win for a small-town Tennessee treasure, Dollywood has been crowned the best amusement park in the US for the second year in a row. TripAdvisor's annual list, based on thousands of traveler reviews, ranks Dollywood above giants like Disney's Magic Kingdom and Universal's Islands of Adventure. 'We don't provide the best guest experience in the country to try to win these awards. We do it because it is the right thing to do,' said Dollywood president Eugene Naughton. 'This award from TripAdvisor is humbling though, because it is derived from reviews left by our actual guests describing their time here at our parks and resorts.' Disney's Magic Kingdom came in second once again, with Hollywood Studios landing in fourth. But despite Disney's enormous crowds — the Orlando parks draw up to 58 million guests a year, compared to Dollywood's 3 million — it was the Smoky Mountains park that won visitors' hearts. Knoebels Amusement Resort in Pennsylvania jumped from eighth to third place, followed by Universal's Islands of Adventure, Fun Spot America, and Silver Dollar City. Whale's Tale Waterpark in New Hampshire cracked the top 10, nudging out Busch Gardens. One visitor described it as 'a place to celebrate Dolly Parton's life,' blending Southern hospitality with thrill rides and family fun. Tickets to Dollywood range from $92 to $132, with water park access available for an additional $10. Meanwhile, some Disney fans are pushing back against the rankings — and recent park changes. Gavin Doyle, founder of Disney news site called Disneyland 'the most charming and impressive theme park resort in the US,' and questioned why it didn't make the top list. 'Dollywood is a great small theme park... but Walt Disney World delivers a great vacation experience at impressive scale,' he told Daily Mail. Meanwhile, Forbes also named Dollywood the top US employer for women, based on surveys of more than 140,000 women across large companies. 'We are proud of the ways we've empowered women across our organization — from leadership development to flexible scheduling and mentorship programs,' said Dollywood vice president of human resources Susan Loveday. Disney World has faced backlash from fans who were furious over its price hikes and ride removals Disney has faced criticism for high prices and the axing of rides. One guest was furious after paying $1,394.91 for a 'bargain' day out at Disney with his family of four. Fans also criticised the park for its decision to replace Star Wars: Launch Bay with a new experience called The Magic of Disney Animation at Hollywood Studios. It is to make room for a highly anticipated Cars land, but it has made guests believe Disney is 'tearing apart' Magic Kingdom. Friends left outraged after Airbnb host rejects booking because they are Welsh

This wasn't the case for two gobsmacked music fans, who had their innocent request to stay in Manchester rejected because they were Welsh. Jemma Louise Gough, 38, and friend Jamie Lee Watkins, 37, had requested an Airbnb room in the city so they could see Australian DJ Sonny Fodera at the Co-op Live Arena. The pair, from Cwmbran in South Wales, were trying to book a double room for just one night in November. They told the Airbnb host they were coming 'from Wales to see the gig' when everything went awry. Jemma and Jamie then received an email telling them their booking request had been rejected. When they asked why, the prospective host replied: 'Because you're from WALES.' Mum-of-two Jemma said: 'We had an email that our booking had been declined and we were getting a refund. 'We wrote 'Hi, can I ask why it's been declined?', with a kiss, very politely.' The school support officer said her 'mouth hit the floor' when she read message telling her the booking was cancelled because of where she was from. She added: 'Nothing else other than 'because you're from Wales'. 'It was nothing about us going to the concert or whatever, it was just discrimination of the country. 'We're amazing people, the Welsh are lush. I don't know what me and my friend – or the whole of Wales – did that's so horrible. It's absolutely horrendous.' The pair shot back asking for more explanation, and told the host it was 'discrimination under the Equality Act 2010'. According to Jemma, that message the host read that message but did not reply. Registered nurse Jamie, who was the one trying to make the booking, said: 'I just thought, 'oh my gosh, how can you say no just because I'm from Wales?'. 'It was really blunt, just one line: because you are from, in capitals, Wales. What difference does that make? I was just a bit shocked really that people still say things like that.' More Trending Jemma took to social media to express her outrage at the cancellation. She said she 'had to tell the world about this' adding they had reported the host. An Airbnb spokesperson said: 'Discrimination, including on the basis of nationality, has no place on Airbnb. As soon as this report was brought to our attention, we reached out to the guest to provide our support and suspended the host while we investigate this matter.' The holiday rental company do have an Open Doors initiative, which means the company provide support to guests who feel they have been discriminated against.
