Historic moment for Ayodhya as Ram Darbar unveiled
It was a historic moment for Ayodhya on Thursday when the pran pratishtha (consecration) of the white marble idol of Raja Ram (Ram in royal form) was conducted and the Ram Darbar ceremonially unveiled amid the chanting of Vedic mantras on the first floor of the grand Ram temple.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath, whose 53rd birthday coincided with the occasion, presided over the pran pratishtha of Ram Darbar, which consists of the idols of Lord Ram and Mata Sita seated on a throne, with Hanuman and Bharat depicted in a prayerful posture at their feet, Lakshman and Shatrughan standing beside them. The throne was placed on a platform made of white marble.
Adityanath anointed all the idols after which the Ram Darbar was unveiled as the collective voice of priests, acharyas and sadhus, the blowing of conch shells and the fragrance of havan enhanced the spiritual atmosphere of the temple premises.
The day, coinciding with the occasion of Ganga Dussehra, came over 16 months after the consecration of Ram Lalla on the ground floor of the temple on January 22, 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had presided over the 2024 event.
Modi on Thursday said Ayodhya has witnessed another proud and historic moment following the consecration of 'Ram Darbar' along with the installation of idols in eight newly built temples inside the Ram Janmabhoomi complex.
In a post on X, the prime minister said the auspicious occasion of the consecration of the divine and grand 'Ram Darbar' will fill the devotees of Ram with devotion and joy.
The PM also said he hopes that Lord Ram bestows his blessings of happiness, health and prosperity upon the countrymen.
The entire Ayodhya wore a festive look and the 13-km stretch of Ram Path from Lata Mangeshkar Chowk up to Ayodhya bypass was decked up to welcome devotees on the grand occasion.
In a culmination of three-day celebrations, the final day's rituals began at 6.30 am with an invocation and offerings at the yagya mandap, followed by a havan at 9am. Subsequently, a centrally coordinated pran-pratishtha ceremony was held across all temples.
The main pran pratishtha rituals were performed during the auspicious Abhijit Muhurat from 11:25 am to 11:40 am.
Adityanath, who also offered prayers to Ram Lalla at the Ram temple and visited Hanumangarhi temple, posted on X: 'Today, in the holy birthplace of Lord Shri Ram, Ayodhya Dham, we are getting the great fortune of becoming a witness to the programme organised for the Pran-Pratishtha of the holy idols of gods in the eight temples, including Shri Ram Darbar, on the first floor of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.' .
Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust member Anil Mishra, was present at the ceremony as the host, along with his wife.
RAM DARBAR AND THE SCULPTOR
The Thursday's ceremony was a moment of personal redemption for Jaipur-based sculptor Satya Narain Pandey and his team which has crafted the Ram Darbar.
Pandey's idol design had lost out to that of Mysuru-based artist Arun Yograj ahead of the 2024 ceremony.
'I was dejected when I came to know that my idol was not shortlisted (for the 2024 ceremony). But due to Lord Ram's blessings, I once again got the opportunity to be associated with the Ram Mandir,' said Pandey.
In January 2024, the Trust selected Arun Yogiraj, the Mysuru-based artist's idol for the pran pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla.
The Ram Lalla idol is made of Krishna shila (black schist) and depicts the deity as a five-year-old boy.
'The main reason behind the decision was the selection of Krishna shila (black stone) over white marble for Ram Lalla's idol,' said Satya Narain Pandey.
'It was altogether a different experience as I had to carve Lord Ram's idol as a grown-up person and not his child form,' said Pandey.
'The sculpting of the Ram Darbar took approximately three months. During this phase, artisans performed daily prayers and rituals seeking divine blessings,' said Pandey.
'We paid close attention to the subtle nuances of the idol, aiming to infuse it with the essence of Lord Ram's character,' he said.
Pandey explained that Lord Ram is revered as the embodiment of compassion and the sustainer of the universe.
'Artisans sought to capture this essence in the idol's facial expression, conveying the divine qualities of Lord Rama,' he said.
'Artisans' meticulous attention to detail and their commitment to creating an idol that reflects Lord Rama's character have made this idol a masterpiece of devotion,' said Champat Rai, general secretary of the Trust.
OTHER TEMPLES IN RAM JANMABHOOMI COMPLEX
Alongside the Ram Darbar, deities enshrined in the other temples in the Ram Janmabhoomi complex on the day included Lord Shiva in the northeast (Ishan) corner, Lord Ganesh in the southeast (Agni) corner, Lord Hanuman midway along the southern side, Lord Surya in the southwest (Nairitya) corner, Goddess Bhagwati in the northwest (Vayavya) corner, and Goddess Annapurna in the middle of the northern side. All idols are made of white makrana marble.
Earlier, the chief minister reached Ayodhya at 10.30am where he was received at the Ram Katha Park by cabinet minister Surya Pratap Shahi.

A day after green event, LMC red-faced
Half a dozen of the saplings planted by urban development minister AK Sharma and other officials at Laxman Mela Ground disappeared on Friday, just a day after the plantation drive, raising serious questions over the Lucknow Municipal Corporation's (LMC) planning and execution. The plantation was part of a major event on World Environment Day, Ganga Dussehra, and the birthday of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, on Thursday. Officials had planted over 30 saplings at the site. Of the 10 saplings planted in a row -- each protected by tree guards -- by minister Sharma, mayor Sushma Kharakwal and municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar, only four remained by Friday morning. A ground report by HT on Friday morning revealed six empty pits, while the saplings were missing. However, LMC claimed that the plants were 'shifted' to another location as a large number of people visit Laxman Mela Ground during festivals. Despite the presence of top officials and the appointment of additional municipal commissioner Arun Kumar Gupta as nodal officer, LMC failed to identify a suitable location for the plantation drive. Officials acknowledged that the site is actually used for idol immersion during major festivals, and the area turned into a dumping ground just hours after the Thursday event. However, soon after the issue came to light, the LMC staff started planting the saplings again in what appeared to be a damage control effort. Criticising LMC's 'casual approach', environmentalists said inability to safeguard saplings planted in the presence of a minister would dent the credibility of regular plantation drives. Prabhunath Rai, president of Bhojpuri Samaj, claimed the saplings were removed by LMC officials themselves after realising that the site was wrongly selected. 'This is pure negligence,' Rai said. Mayor Sushma Kharakwal directed additional municipal corporation Arun Kumar Gupta to prepare and submit a detailed report. Meanwhile, LMC claimed to have planted over 1,000 saplings across the city as part of the same initiative, including those of rudraksha, banyan, amla, and kaner. The campaign also featured activities under 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' and 'Plogging for Plastic' campaigns. A human chain was also formed for environment conservation at the Gomti riverfront.

Gujarat diamond trader donates jewellery worth crores to Ayodhya Ram Temple
A Gujarat diamond merchant has donated a lavish assortment of ornaments, including 11 crowns and a golden bow and arrow, to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya. According to Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) officials, the contribution includes 11 diamond-studded crowns, 30 kilograms of silver, 300 grams of gold, and rubies, along with a host of other ornate items. Dinesh Newadia, national treasurer of the VHP, revealed that the donation also features necklaces, earrings, ornamental forehead tilaks, seven bows (four large, three small) representing the brothers of the Ramayana, four quivers, three maces, and ceremonial fly whisks. "Mukesh Patel has donated 11 crowns made of diamonds, 30 kilograms of silver, 300 grams of gold, and rubies," Newadia claimed. The items were flown to Ayodhya in a special chartered aircraft. Mukesh Patel, who owns the Surat-based jewellery firm Green Lab, is well-known in the diamond trade and has previously supported religious and cultural initiatives. This latest donation, however, is among the most significant individual contributions made toward the ornamentation of the Ram Temple. The announcement comes just a day after a major milestone at the temple - the consecration of 'Raja Ram', or Lord Rama in his royal form. The ceremony included the installation of idols in eight newly constructed temples within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex and was attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This was the second major consecration ceremony at the site, following the January 22, 2024 installation of Ram Lalla, which was graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The consecration ceremony has drawn large crowds to the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Champat Rai, Secretary of the Ram temple trust, said that on Thursday, the temple completed the consecration ceremony of seven idols. He stated that the idols installed on the first floor above the sanctum sanctorum include Ram Darbar in the middle, a Shivalinga in the north eastern corner, a Ganapati idol in the southeastern corner, Hanumana idol in the middle of the southern side, Surya in the south western corner, Bhagwati in the north western corner, and Annapurna Mata in the middle of the northern side.

From bullets to flowers: UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Ayodhya's transition; says blessings of revered seers guiding New India
AYODHYA : CM Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that Ayodhya has transitioned into a global symbol of 'Atithi Devo Bhava'. "It was a city where once Ram devotees faced bullets but today they are being welcomed with flowers," he said at a public event in Ram Katha Park. Highlighting the significance of Pran Pratishtha ceremony held in Ayodhya on Thursday, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said the grand temple of Ram Lalla is a powerful testament to the enduring strength of Sanatan Dharma. "After a wait of 500 years, the Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ram Lalla was performed with great devotion by PM Modi on Jan 22, 2024. Today, the consecration of the divine idols in the Ram Darbar and Ram Mandir has also been accomplished," he said. 'Blessings of revered seers guiding New India' Mentioning Ayodhya's spiritual and cultural resurgence over the past 10 years, Yogi said it was under PM Modi's leadership that the vision of Viksit Bharat, rooted in Sanatan Dharma, was becoming a reality, with Ayodhya reclaiming the divine aura of the Treta Yuga. The CM also attended the 87th birthday celebrations of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust president Mahant Nritya Gopal Das at Mani Ram Das Cantonment. The occasion also coincided with Yogi's birthday on Thursday. Calling it a privilege to be part of the celebrations, the CM said it was the divine spiritual practices and blessings of revered seers that were guiding the transformative journey of New India. 'From the 18th to the 21st century, this sacred site has been a centre of unwavering devotion. Legend says that Mata Janaki once appeared in a divine vision to a saint of this tradition, blessing and strengthening its spiritual lineage," he said, crediting Mahant Nritya Gopal Das' leadership for the success of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. Mentioning the redevelopment of pilgrimage centres like Kashi Vishwanath, Mahakaal, Kedarpuri, and Somnath, Yogi said these temples served as the spiritual pillars of a new, empowered India, which was emerging from the roots of Sanatan traditions. Describing the changes being implemented in Ayodhya, Yogi highlighted the efforts to develop it as the country's first solar city. "The once stagnant waters at Ram Ki Paidi now flow clean and pure, capable of accommodating over 5 lakh devotees for a holy dip. A new stretch of ghats, from Naya Ghat to Guptar Ghat, has been developed to enhance the pilgrim experience," the CM said. Highlighting the significance of Ganga Dussehra and World Environment Day celebrated on Thursday, the CM said it had deep spiritual and environmental significance. "It is on this auspicious day, through the penance of Maharaj Bhagirath, that the river Ganga descended to Earth. Ma Ganga is a symbol of devotion and liberation, she is the lifeline of our spiritual heritage," he said. Among other projects to develop Ayodhya as a global spiritual and cultural hub, the CM highlighted an international airport in the name of Maharishi Valmiki, a community kitchen named after Mata Shabari, a pilgrim guest house named in honour of Nishadraj, and temples dedicated to Maharishi Vashishtha, Vishwamitra, and Tulsidas. Referring to the installation of a statue of the Vulture King Jatayu in the temple complex, the CM said that vultures were a species critical to ecological balance but were facing extinction due to food scarcity and environmental degradation. "They serve a vital role in nature and are beneficial to humanity. Jatayu, who valiantly fought Ravan during the abduction of Mata Sita, is a symbol of ultimate sacrifice and courage.
