Man claims he snagged a $5 million lottery win — only to have girlfriend take the money and run

A Canadian man said he hit the jackpot — then got left in the lurch.
Lawrence Campbell of Winnipeg claimed he paid for a lottery ticket that turned out to be a $5 million winner but couldn't officially collect the winnings because he had lost his wallet and ID, so his longtime girlfriend Krystal McKay collected the prize instead.
But instead of living a life of luxury together, McKay allegedly ghosted Campbell — who is now suing her to recoup the cash, according to reports.

He trusted her because the pair were 'in a loyal, committed and promising romantic partnership,' lawyer told CTV News.

Campbell and McKay had been dating for a year and a half and lived together, he told the outlet.
But less than two weeks after McKay cashed in the big fat check, she failed to return to the hotel room they'd been sharing, he claimed.

'He set out to visit a few of her known spots where she would party and sure enough after some investigation, he found her; in bed, with another guy,' he told CTV News.
The lottery ticket was in McKay's name, but Campbell claims he paid for it and they had agreed it was his.

'She ghosted him, refused to take his calls or answer his messages, she blocked him on her social media accounts; and even took out a protection order.'

McKay denied the allegations and is planning to respond in court, according to the station.

Beachgoer Finds Woman's Ashes in a Bottle, Then Her Sweet Message to the Woman's Daughter Goes Viral

A woman placed her mom's ashes in a bottle, so she could finally travel the world 'This is my mum. Throw her back in,' Cara Melia wrote on the note she placed in the bottle. 'She's travelling the world." Another woman found the bottle within 12 hours — and her message to Melia went viralA grieving daughter placed her mom's ashes in a bottle so she could finally see the world. Not long after, a stranger found the bottle — and her message to the woman's daughter went viral. In February, Cara Melia's mom, 51-year-old Wendy Chadwick, died of a heart condition, the BBC and the Manchester Evening News reported. The mom of five never got a chance to travel the globe, which her family decided to rectify after her death. 'For a long time she looked after her late brother and her mum as their carer,' Melia, 24, told the paper. Chadwick also loved the beach, so Melia originally considered scattering her ashes on the beach during a recent trip to Skegness, a town in England along the coast of the North Sea. 'But my best friend thought of the bottle idea and put her out to sea,' Melia continued, according to the Manchester Evening News. 'I wrote the note because I wanted her to finally get to travel because she didn't get to before she passed.' 'This is my mum. Throw her back in,' the note read. 'She's travelling the world. Thanks, Cara, Oldham, UK.' Melia said a final goodbye to her mom, but just 12 hours later, the bottle was found by somebody visiting a beach in Skegness, the BBC reported. A Facebook post about the discovery soon went viral. 'Can everyone please share this far and wide in hope it finds Cara from Oldham!!' wrote Kelly Sheridan on Tuesday, June 3, captioning a picture of the bottle, note and a video of a boy tossing the bottle back into the water. 'We found this lovely lady earlier today at Butlins, Skegness beach,' she continued. 'She's been thrown back in the sea as requested.. happy travels Cara's Mum.' While Melia was grateful her mom's ashes had been returned to the North Sea ('Thank you for throwing her back in,' she responded on Facebook), she hoped the initial journey would be longer. "Nobody was meant to find her for a bit,' she told the BBC. 'She was meant to be in a completely different country.' But Melia thinks her mom would be tickled by the discovery. Chadwick was a "very quirky kind of person,' said Melia, who told the outlet her mom would be giggling over the news. Now that her mom has been returned to the sea, she hopes the next trip will be longer. "I am hoping she goes further this time and finally gets a chance to travel the world,' Melia told the Manchester Evening News. 'It seems to have touched so many people.' Bogus fifties found at Woodway Walgreens, man arrested

Woodway, Tx (FOX 44) – Counterfeit $50 bills used to buy a prepaid cash card in Woodway were traced back to a Waco man, leading to his arrest. Syngin Jon Chaffee was booked into the McLennan County Jail on forgery charges Wednesday after surveillance photos of the transaction were used to identify him. The original incident occurred April 5 when a man with a beard entered the Walgreens at Estates Drive and Woodway Drive and used four fifty-dollar bills to load $200 onto a prepaid card. An arrest affidavit said it was not initially noticed that the bills were counterfeit until after the transaction was complete and he had left the store. The incident was reported to the Woodway Public Safety Department by Walgreens who also provided the counterfeit bills along with the surveillance video of the transaction. The affidavit stated that after the investigator shared a still photo of the suspect in a county investigator e-mail, he got a tip on a possible ID of the man. He then searched the name on Facebook and was able to find an account and match that photo with those on the site and on a Texas ID belonging to Syngin Chaffee. Man faces animal cruelty charge after kitten thrown on roof The affidavit stated the investigator contact Chaffee who met with him at the police station. The affidavit said he gave a statement about making the transaction, but claimed he did not know the bills were counterfeit. The affidavit stated that of the four bills used in the transaction, one was real and three were bogus. Chaffee was then arrested and transported to the jail where he remained Thursday.
