Glasgow artist nominated for prestigious drawing prize
His work 'I want to Break Free' will go on show in the RBSA Drawing Prize Exhibition at RBSA Gallery in Birmingham B3 1SA from Friday to June 28.
The entries came from artists working in all styles and media; the only restriction being that the technique used must be drawing.
Mr To, whose work is admired by Patrick Stewart, is known for using gunpowder to create his pieces.

Commenting on being short-listed for the prize, To said: 'It is a honour to be shortlisted in this national royal drawing art prize. The piece that got shortlisted into the RBSA Art Drawing Prize is a Bernese Mountain dog running. I think this piece is a testimonial of me pushing my limits in my drawing skills.
'Also to be short-listed perhaps as the only Scottish artist for the prize is humbling.
"For me, it's a way to show both nationally and internationally how Scottish contemporary drawing is still well regarded. I want to contribute to this in any way possible as one of the most prolific leading draughtsmen in Scotland."
Born in Falkirk in 1982, Mr To graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a degree in fine art before getting his Masters at Jordanstone Art College in Dundee.
In addition to his nomination for the RBSA prize, his work has been accepted to the prestigious Royal Ulster Academy exhibition at the Ulster Museum in Belfast and the famous Royal West England Academy Annual open exhibition at the RWA in Bristol.

It's been suggested that chiefs proposed integrating her self-titled programme with Good Morning Britain, an idea she reportedly declined. The supposed offer would have seen Lorraine hosting the breakfast segment for half an hour each day, similar to the temporary format used during the COVID-19 crisis, which insiders have described as an "easy fix," reports the Express. Sources close to the presenter, now 65, allegedly revealed that she felt "insulted" by the proposal and declined it. Substantial shifts at ITV have had a significant impact on Lorraine, with the programme being reduced to airing 30 weeks a year and the episode length cut from one hour to just 30 minutes. One insider shared: "Lorraine was not happy about what is happening and also had concern for the production team which will be cut back too. "But the truth is she has to roll her sleeves up and work harder on her own show than she has in recent years, otherwise the long-term future does not look good." Former Loose Women star Ayda Field, wife of Robbie Williams, summed up her time in Scotland with just one word while in Edinburgh for the opening night of Robbie's Britpop Tour at Murrayfield Stadium Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field have been sharing glimpses of their time in Edinburgh over the past few days. The Angels singer arrived in the capital ahead of his much-anticipated performance at Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday night. Around 70,000 people headed to Edinburgh for the gig before Robbie continues his 'Britpop' Tour in London, Manchester, Bath and then across Europe - with dates in Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Sweden. Ahead of the show, Ayda gave her one million Instagram followers a glimpse into her Scottish adventure, describing it in one word: "magical". She explored Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile, taking in some of the city's iconic sights before heading to Edinburgh's Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium to watch her husband's performance. Sharing a post on social media, she said: "@robbiewilliams you are TREMENDOUS. And Scotland, thank you for a magical first night of the BRIT POP tour." The singer also made sure to thank his fans once the gig was over. He shared a montage of pictures of him on stage during the show on Instagram, along with the caption: "Scotland - I love you. That was an incredible opening night. Until next time. Rob x." During the lead up to the gig, Robbie and Ayda spent some time in Gleneagles, relaxing before the tour kicked off on Saturday at Murrayfield. The American actress showed off the beautiful gardens, where the couple had been enjoying scenic walks, along with photos of the nearby stream. She also revealed they had been making the most of the drink offerings available to them at the luxurious £1600 a night five star hotel. She shared some snaps online of the couple enjoying the whiskey offerings at the glorious resort, taking a photo of an ice bucket which contained six bottles of wine. In the bucket was also the non-alcoholic wine, Wild Idol, which is priced at £30 a bottle in the shops, making it one of the most expensive no alcohol drinks. Ayda made a joke, writing: 'My drink order just arrived." Similar to the wine, she showed off four bottles of The Macallan whiskey including one bottle of Time: Space Mastery 200 anniversary edition that is worth £1,200 in shows and would be considerably more at the five star resort. After the gig at Murrayfield, fans were quick to take to X, formally known as Twitter, to express their opinion on Saturday night's show. One fan wrote: "Fantastic evening from the man of Entertainment .. Rob, you and your crew we're absolutely on point. Everyone was amazing. The crowd was electrified." As another stated how proud they were of Robbie, writing: "It was phenomenal. I was so proud of you and you absolutely bossed it. You've still got it and I can't wait till next time. Female-led Spaghetti Western with Sicilian flavour being cooked up in Galloway
The film is the latest initiative from writer and director Jessica Fox, who hopes it will help open the door for more female influence over the movie industry. A Spaghetti Western with a difference is being cooked up in Galloway. The film will have all the usual features of a Wild West movie – sheriffs, gun-toting outlaws, wagon trains, saloons, bar brawls and shootouts. But the entire project is female-led and aims to be fully funded by women. And the Scottish project will also have a Sicilian flavour. Spaghetti Western is the latest initiative from Wigtown-based, US-born writer and director Jessica Fox who hopes it will help open the door for more female influence over the movie industry. She and London-based producer Diana Phillips, believe it's essential to have more films created from the female gaze and with female financing. Jessica said: 'It's a fun, authentic, deliciously different take on the Wild West – how it was really won, as gun toting bad guys face the ultimate showdown when Sicilian cookery comes to town. 'But the project is far bigger, it's about empowering women of the 21st century to start transforming the movie industry, by getting involved as investors, directors and producers. 'It's a sector that's overwhelmingly dominated by men. Men decide who and what to fund, the film and TV that we watch and our cultural narratives. Even the films with female central characters are largely made through the male gaze. 'It's time that changed, with fresh stories and ideas that bring new perspectives to the big screen – and with that, new audiences. 'The only way that's going to happen is if we begin making movies that are funded by women and offer the insights and experience they need to truly take the leading role. 'She who holds the purse strings tells the story.' Spaghetti Western is set in 1881 when Elena Fardella, a young Sicilian widow, finds herself thrust into the battle for control of the remote, dust-blown town of Eden, New Mexico. Her only weapon is her skill as a cook and determination to use food to bring people together. Jessica, who is behind award-winning movie Stella and the romantic memoir Three Things You Need To Know About Rockets, has secured Grammy and award and Pulitzer Prize winning Rhiannon Giddens to record the soundtrack and it is hoped filming will begin next year. Development funding is in place, thanks to female angel investors, with chair of Women's Enterprise Scotland professor Lynne Cadenhead backing the project. The team is now calling on other women to get involved, with investors being offered the chance to appear in the film. Diana Phillips said: 'We have a brilliant script, a great creative team, the music has been recorded and development funding is in place – now we are looking for women to come forward as investors and collaborators so we can make a great movie and a real difference to the movie industry.'
