Despite the branch remaining highly popular among students, officials are concerned about a potential oversupply of graduates, particularly from private colleges. This oversaturation is believed to be affecting both employability and academic quality.
CET counselling to follow NEET results and final seat matrix
Addressing concerns about delays in Common Entrance Test (CET) counselling, the official confirmed that the postponement is intentional. 'Many students appear for both CET and NEET-UG. If CET counselling begins before NEET results are out, students will lack crucial information and this can lead to unnecessary seat blocking,' the official said.
CET counselling will begin after the finalisation of the engineering seat matrix and the announcement of NEET-UG results, ensuring students can make well-informed decisions about their academic future.

Cabinet nod to new bill for welfare of gig workers
1 2 Ranchi: The state cabinet on Wednesday approved The Jharkhand Platform Based Gig Workers (Registration and Welfare) Bill of 2025 for tabling it during the next session of the state assembly. Briefing the media after the meeting, state finance secretary Prashant Kumar said the proposal was moved by labour employment and training department. "The bill is to streamline and work towards welfare of gig workers in the state who are engaged with various online based platforms," he said. After the enhancement of the law, a Jharkhand Platform Based Gig Workers' Board will be formed in the state. "The board will ensure their registration, data keeping and work towards their welfare. A separate welfare fund for gig workers will also be set up," Kumar added. The cabinet approved 11 other proposals during Wednesday's meeting. The cabinet gave it's nod for the creation of teaching and non-teaching staff positions in the newly established government engineering colleges in Bokaro and Godda as per AICTE norms and regulations. "For each college, 85 teaching and 125 non-teaching positions have been created. It will incur an expense of Rs 41.87 crore annually to the state exchequer," Kumar said. The cabinet also approved formation of the Jharkhand Municipal Contractor Registration (Amendment) Rules, 2025, which will make GST registration in state mandatory for entity seeking to take work orders or contracts from the state urban development department. Administrative approval was also given for the transfer, widening, strengthening, and reconstruction of the Pakur-Barharwa main road with an estimated budget of around Rs 40,39 crore. The cabinet also sanctioned transferring of all posts of doctors and medical staff at jails across the state to the health department from home department for better management of resources. It also approved a proposal to reinstate 25 teachers, whose appointed were declared illegal in a in CBI investigation but was later allowed by the Supreme Court and Jharkhand High Court, allowing them to receive their due benefits and pensions.

No takers for 50% of Class 11 seats in Nagpur division
1 2 Nagpur: The reality of excess availability of Class 11 seats in Nagpur division has again become visible, with just 50% of seats finding takers even though online registrations close on Thursday (June 5) afternoon. This is the first time that Class 11 admissions for the entire state are being done online. There are 2.13 lakh seats available in the six districts of Nagpur division, but just over one lakh students registered as of Wednesday morning. Maharashtra CET Cell declares results of LLB entrance test, all four toppers from single exam centre in Patna
In an unusual pattern, all four candidates who scored a perfect 100 percentile in the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (CET) for the 5-year LLB course have one thing in common—they all took the exam at the same centre in Patna, Bihar. The Maharashtra CET Cell announced the results on Wednesday evening. As per the information shared by the CET Cell, the four top scorers—Vishesh Kumar Pathak, Himanshu Jaiswal, Prakhar Jyoti, and Sanskrit Soundarya—all appeared for the exam at Mahi Infotech, an exam centre in Patna. This clustering of top scores at a single exam centre in Patna has drawn attention and requires further scrutiny, according to experts. Out of 35,074 candidates who registered for the MAH-LLB 5-year CET, 27,372 appeared for the test conducted on April 28. On the same day, the CET Cell also declared results for the Five students from various parts of Maharashtra secured a perfect 100 percentile in this exam, which saw 61,666 candidates appear out of 72,259 registered. This test was held on April 29 and 30.
