Retiring cop's Bullet ride dream realized by Akola SP Chandak
Akola: SP Archit Chandak's impromptu and moving gesture created a unforgettable moment at the farewell function for six retiring officers on Saturday, striking an emotional chord and warming hearts across social media.
A long-held dream of a retiring constable was fulfilled during the ceremony organized at the Akola police headquarters.
One of the retiring constables, Arun Ghormode, was accompanied by his daughter. While reminiscing about her father's service, she casually mentioned how he always dreamt of riding a Bullet motorcycle in full police uniform — a dream left unrealized due to family responsibilities.
The hall fell silent.
But what followed was both unexpected and deeply moving.
Recognizing the emotion behind the statement, SP Chandak immediately instructed his staff: "Bring a Bullet." Moments later, Ghormode was seen sitting on the iconic bike in uniform, with SP Chandak riding pillion.
The attendees were visibly moved. Some stood in silence, others applauded, and many were seen wiping their tears. "It wasn't just about a motorcycle.

It was about dignity, respect and honouring a life of silent sacrifices," said an officer present at the event.
The moment, captured in photos and videos, soon went viral on social media, drawing praise for SP Chandak's sensitivity and humane approach to leadership.
SP Chandak, an IIT-Delhi graduate and 2018 batch IPS officer, has previously been recognized for his innovative and sensitive approach to policing. Chandak, who was transferred to Akola from Nagpur, where he served as DCP (traffic), recently took swift action against a PSI involved in misconduct, reinforcing the department's commitment to transparency and discipline.

Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly petitions committee suggests measures to curb PDS rice smuggling
Vijayawada: Assembly deputy speaker K Raghurama Krishna Raju on Tuesday suggested delinking NTR Vaidya Seva cards from white ration cards to curb smuggling of PDS rice. Raju, who is also the chairman of legislative assembly petitions committee which held deliberations in the assembly committee hall, said they will soon submit proposals to the state govt on the issue. He said linking every govt scheme to white ration cards has led to even those who do not need them obtaining these cards, resulting in the misuse of ration rice and large-scale smuggling. "Senior officials from relevant depts also agree that delinking white ration cards from the issuance of NTR Vaidya Seva cards would yield positive results. There are approximately 1.70 crore families in the state, of which around 1.48 crore have white ration cards. The state govt is spending approximately ₹5,100 crore on ration rice distribution without central assistance. Delinking of rice cards with health cards could save up to ₹2,000 crore," said Raju. He opined that redirecting these funds to education could pave the way for a brighter future for students. "Delinking ration cards not only from NTR Vaidya Seva cards but also from NTR Bharosa pensions and other govt schemes could lead to better outcomes," he added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Alerta: Você tem zumbido no ouvido? "Jagan was chiefly responsible for all crimes against Dalits when he was at the helm. If he wanted to console a ganja batch by portraying them as police victims, what can we do except sympathizing with him?" he said.

Quality control officials failed at every level during Medigadda barrage construction: TVC
Hyderabad: The Telangana Vigilance Commission (TVC) report has squarely blamed the quality control department for systemic failures, resulting in the collapse of piers of the Medigadda barrage. As per the report, quality control engineers ignored key recommendations from Telangana State Engineering Research Laboratories (TSERL), failed to monitor gate operations, did not verify whether critical overburden removal was carried out, and neglected their core responsibility of ensuring construction standards. Moreover, despite clear signs of damage – including dislocated concrete blocks on the downstream apron – officials from chief engineer down to site-level staff failed to inspect the site, assess the cause, or act on technical warnings. Tests Ignored, Bills Cleared, Site Neglected According to the report, payment to the contractor was cleared without conducting compressive strength tests for 17.6% of the concrete, resulting in Rs 241 crore being released without required quality checks. This failure was part of Rs 1,342 crore billed for barrage concrete work alone. Registers were backdated and potentially fabricated. Quality control certificates were issued with one sample per 400 cubic metres for all grades of concrete, contrary to the agreement, it said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Promoções imperdíveis de voos baratos Voos | Anúncios de Pesquisa Saiba Mais Undo Field engineers and quality control personnel showed consistent negligence. Only one inspection report each was issued by the chief engineer and superintending engineer of the quality control & inspection circle, Warangal, over the course of the entire project. This was despite the prestige and complexity of the construction, the report said. Multiple Officers Held Responsible, Criminal Action Recommended The report identified individual lapses of several senior officials. B Venkateshwarlu, former chief engineer, quality control, failed to monitor his staff, oversee key construction activities, or intervene in deviations such as improper secant pile execution and faulty sheet pile driving, it said. Ch Gangadhar, former superintending engineer, disclaimed awareness of the project's inauguration and did not raise objections over incomplete works before impounding, the report pointed out. V Ajaya Kumar and PA Venkata Krishna, both former chief engineers, limited their roles to test certifications and ignored signs of structural distress, including downstream apron damage. They also failed to ensure implementation of TSERL recommendations. TVC recommended criminal prosecution for both. Other officers, including superintending engineer K Devendar Reddy and executive engineer M Raghuram, also failed to verify gate operations, alert higher-ups, or act on technical red flags, the TVC report said. Several junior officers, including deputy executive engineer B Kiran Kumar, certified bills without required tests and issued quality certificates without checking records, it said.

Burglar targets Gurgaon flat, steals Rs 12L jewellery, caught on camera
Gurgaon: A burglar broke into a ground-floor flat at a residential society in Sector 83 and stole Rs 12 lakh work jewellery on Sunday night. The incident, which took place 8:58pm, was captured on a CCTV camera. Footage showed a man entering the flat, Vatika G-21, in Tower C3 of the society. There was no one in the house at the time. The theft came to light the next day, around 12.30pm, when the family's domestic help found a broken piece of a gold earring inside the house and alerted the flat's owner. On checking the locker in the almirah, the owner found that all the gold jewellery was missing. "We went out for dinner on Sunday evening. The thief entered the flat through the kitchen balcony and took the gold jewellery. Nothing seemed out of place initially, and it was only when our help alerted my wife that we checked the almirah and discovered the theft," said the flat's owner, adding that they filed a police complaint and submitted the CCTV footage. An FIR was registered at Kherki Daula police station under section 305 of the BNS, pertaining to theft in a dwelling house. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Falck: À 29€/mois, cette mutuelle senior assure une protection totale Prio Santé En savoir plus Undo Police said they are scanning CCTV footage and trying to identify the suspect. "A team of the crime branch is also investigating the matter, and efforts are being made to trace the accused," a police spokesperson said. The society's RWA suspects that the intruder entered the society from a vulnerable point near Tower B1 and EWS blocks, where only temporary fencing is in place instead of a boundary wall. In April this year, TOI reported that the DTCP directed the developer to restore the incomplete boundary wall, but no action was taken. Last year in Dec, DTCP investigated the matter on complaints by residents and found that the developer illegally created a passage by breaching the boundary wall and removing designated parking bays to carve out an unauthorised road from the 24m internal road. Subsequently, a show-cause notice was issued in Jan, and restoration orders were issued in Feb and April. However, the boundary wall was not rebuilt. RWA members met police officials and demanded a separate FIR be filed against the developer.
