The 22-year-old Spaniard joined the long list of early withdrawals from the National Bank Open. Sinner and Novak Djokovic have also withdrawn from the tournament on Sunday.
Sinner lifted the trophy in Toronto in 2023 while the 38-year-old Djokovic is a four-time National Bank Open champion. British No. 1 Jack Draper has also withdrawn from the Toronto draw due to an arm injury.
"Winning that title in Toronto two years ago was the start of a really special moment for me, but after speaking with my team, I have to prioritise my health. I would like to thank Karl Hale, the Tournament Director, for everything he does and I'm looking forward to returning to Canada and Toronto in the future to play in front of the great fans," Sinner had said.
The Canadian ATP Masters 1000 event begins on Sunday and this year the ATP Masters 1000 tournament will expand to 12 days, with the final set for August 7.

Aug 3 (Reuters) - Summer McIntosh is on track to finish the world championships with a fourth gold medal after being fastest in the 400 metres individual medley heats while Leon Marchand nearly missed the men's final on the eighth and final day in Singapore on Sunday. McIntosh cruised to victory in her heat in four minutes and 35.56 seconds for the final later on Sunday, nearly 12 seconds shy of her world record (4:23.65) from Canadian trials in June. The biggest cheers might have been for 12-year-old Yu Zidi, though, as the Chinese schoolgirl won her heat to qualify third for the final in 4:36.49, less than a second off the personal best (4:35.53) that clinched the national title in May. Marchand, who took the 200m IM gold after setting a world record in the semi-finals, led halfway through his 400 heat but slowed up almost too much in the breaststroke and freestyle legs as he qualified seventh for the final in the evening session. Mboko got her revenge on Gauff, who beat the Canadian earlier in the year during the WTA event in Rome as the American fought back to dig out a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 win. 'I was actually really thinking about it a lot during the match," Mboko said. 'I had flashbacks to when I played her in Rome a little bit. I just remember when she came out playing even better and stepped it up a bit better. Wanted to step my game up a little bit more and make sure I matched whatever she was producing, and I wanted to stay right there with her."
