Bonnie and Clyde brought to life by Newport theatre group

The musical, based on the lives of the infamous couple, tells the story of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow and their life of crime across southern Texas amid the Great Depression. The pair earn the fame and notoriety they so desperately crave through their deadly antics.
The musical features a score written by Frank Wildhorn and lyrics by Don Black combining blues, gospel and rockabilly music with songs including 'Raise a Lttle Hell ', 'You Love Who You Love' and 'The World Will Remember Us.
Founded by local musical stalwart Victoria Bryant and choreographer Emily John, Glass Ceiling Theatre has developed a well-earned reputation as one of Wales' leading musical theatre groups attracting talent from across South Wales from Neath to Abergavenny with some members even travelling from as far as Somerset for the weekly rehearsals.
Andre-Paul Spring joins the production team for Bonnie and Clyde as co-director bringing his skills and experience gathered working with other theatre groups, including his own.
Glass Ceiling Theatre, which was set up eight years ago, recently celebrated a sell-out run of the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast at Newport's Dolman Theatre. It has also staged shows including Footloose and Legally Blonde.
Victoria Bryant, Glass Ceiling Theatre musical director, said: "Bonnie and Clyde is a demanding show in terms of the emotional performance needed throughout the musical, and our cast give their all to ensure this comes across."
Nicole Cleaton and Jamie Davis take on the lead roles. Clyde's brother, Buck Barrow, is played by Evan Davies and his hard-suffering wife, Blanche, is played by Jessica Doolan.
Bonnie and Clyde is on at Newport's Dolman Theatre from Thursday June 19 to Saturday June 21, 2025.

The 2019 crime drama stars Academy Award winner Daniel Kaluuya BBC One is set to air a romantic drama with 'major Bonnie and Clyde vibes' tonight (August 16), and it's one to add to your weekend movie marathon. ‌ First released in 2019, Queen and Slim stars Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya and fellow British actor Jodie Turner-Smith. ‌ The film marked Grammy Award winner Melina Matsoukas's directorial debut, having refined her skills in music video direction. ‌ Viewers follow defence lawyer Queen (Turner-Smith) and her Tinder match Slim (Kaluuya) as they chat over an awkward first date. As the pair drive home, a police officer stops them for a traffic violation. However, the routine stop escalates when the officer pulls out his gun and Slim grabs it, consequently killing the officer in self-defence. Slim's crime is captured on video, forcing the new couple to run from the law. The outlaws soon become revolutionary symbols, inspiring African American communities to protest against police brutality. Corruption in law enforcement, along with other themes of race relations in the US, are sprinkled throughout the story. Upon its debut, Queen and Slim earned a Certified Fresh 82% Rotten Tomatoes score, with audiences rating it a rare 92%. ‌ Critics on the movie-rating site were moved by the story's depth. Their consensus reads: "Stylish, provocative, and powerful, Queen & Slim tells a gripping fugitive story steeped in timely, thoughtful subtext." Casual moviegoers were similarly impressed, with one reviewer raving: "A phenomenal film from start to finish. The story feels real something like this could definitely happen in real life. It gives off major Bonnie and Clyde vibes!" A second chimed in with: "I love this movie; it such a heartfelt movie that made me cry at the ending. Romantic, good old jams, passionate and stylish, a must see!" ‌ "A masterpiece. Well shot, great acting, great storyline. Just a hidden gem. Pure entertainment. Pure meaning," said a third. Meanwhile, a fourth fan gushed: "Soo poignantly representing the struggles that African Americans face.... Daniel K. how much more outstanding can you be!" And a final viewer said: "The atmosphere of this film combined with the cast's amazing performances make for one of the most entertaining films of 2019." Queen and Slim airs on BBC One on Saturday, August 16 at midnight

The New Forest & Hampshire County Show has opened its doors to is the 97th time the show in Brockenhurst has been held since 1920 , having only been cancelled for the Great Depression, World War Two and the Covid pandemic. CEO Darren Dooley told the BBC: "We bring the New Forest together for three days... and while people are here we want them to learn, to educate, and just have a great time."Enjoy some snaps from the event, which began on Tuesday and runs until Thursday.
