Counter-terror cops won't prosecute Kneecap over ‘kill your MP' video that sparked furious backlash
CONTROVERSIAL hip hop group Kneecap will not be prosecuted by terror cops over their "kill your MP" remarks.
The Irish band - who the BBC refused to broadcast live at Glastonbury yesterday - were subject of a terror probe by the Met Police.
It related to a video which emerged last month calling for the death of British politicians.
The trio responded with a grovelling statement, insisting they would not incite violence against any individual.
And the Met Police has now said is will not proceed with the case for a number of reasons, including the "time elapsed between the events in the video and the video being brought to police attention".
The force said: "A thorough investigation has now been completed by detectives from the Counter Terrorism Command, which included interviewing an individual under caution and seeking early investigative advice from the Crown Prosecution Service.
"A range of offences were considered as part of the investigation.
"However, given the time elapsed between the events in the video and the video being brought to police attention, any potential summary only offences were beyond the statutory time limit for prosecution.
"Relevant indictable offences were considered by the investigation team and, based on all of the current evidence available, a decision has been made that no further action will be taken at this time."

Powys waiting on another £6m in Levelling Up Funding
POWYS Council is still waiting to find out if it will receive a further £6 million in UK Government Levelling Up Funding (LUF) – a senior councillor has revealed. Earlier this month (June) the county council said that it had received 'almost £11 million' from the UK Labour Government and that the authority will use this to: 'invest in capital projects aimed at promoting recreational tourism in the county through transport investment.' The council said that this funding would be used on projects that include resurfacing works, walking, and cycling schemes (active travel) and rights of way refurbishment. However, a question from Plaid Cymru group leader, Cllr Elwyn Vaughan to the cabinet has prompted the council to say that the allocation is much lower than what they wanted. Due to this a number of projects are on hold and will not be worked on this financial year while others will be partly funded and completed in the future once more money is found. Cllr Vaughan asked: 'Can you please (provide) a full list of the projects being supported by the £11 million LUF recently received towards roads and paths.' Cabinet member for highways, transport, and recycling Cllr Jackie Charlton (Liberal Democrat) said: 'The original LUF bid was for around £17 million plus match funding, but we only received just under £11 million this year. 'The rest of the bid is subject to the UK Government Spending Review which we are still awaiting news on this.' She explained that 'some flexibility' may be needed with the resurfacing scheme as they will be dependent on departmental budget under and overspends as well as 'changes in conditions' since the bid was sent to Westminster. Bob Vylan banned from US over 'hateful' Glastonbury outburst as visas revoked
Bob Vylan has had their US visa application rejected following their Glastonbury set. The duo caused controversy when they performed over the weekend at Worthy Farm as they started chants of "Death to the IDF." They were set to perform in America later this year, yet their visas have now been rejected. United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said on X: "The @StateDept has revoked the US visas for the members of the Bob Vylan band in light of their hateful tirade at Glastonbury, including leading the crowd in death chants. "Foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country." The band, who were set to tour the US in October, have been highly criticised for the messages in their set over the weekend, as they performed before Kneecap. Bob Vylan's performance was aired live on the BBC at the time, but the corporation have since said they have no plans of putting it on iPlayer. The US ambassador to the UK Warren Stephens said the actions of Bob Vylan at Glastonbury were 'a disgrace'. He said: 'The anti-Semitic chants led by Bob Vylan at Glastonbury were a disgrace. There should be no place for this hateful incitement or tolerance of antisemitism in the UK.'
