Enoc achieves Dhs395 million in energy savings
Enoc Group recorded remarkable success in energy reduction through comprehensive Energy & Resource Management (E&RM) activities across its operations.
Driving resilience through sustainable economic growth, the Group saved Dhs395 million in total energy from 2014 to 2024, mitigating 703,840 metric tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
As part of its long-term commitment to environmental responsibility, Enoc joined millions around the world in observing Earth Hour 2025, switching off non-essential lights at its headquarters, operational facilities, and service stations on March 22nd from 8.30pmto 9.30pm.
Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO of Enoc, said, 'Earth Hour is a powerful reminder of the urgency for collective action to ensure tangible results in combating environmental challenges. Enoc Group remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting sustainable development initiatives and raising awareness about optimising energy consumption in the UAE and beyond.'
In 2024, Enoc business units achieved substantial savings through targeted energy efficiency initiatives.
Enoc Processing Company (EPCL) spearheaded these efforts, saving Dhs2,314,669 through various energy and resource management initiatives.
The Retail unit made a significant contribution with the implementation of key projects such as the integration of Solar PV LED Lights in the Retail Operations Management & AutoPro sites, resulting in a combined saving of Dhs3,115,294. Enoc's Corporate Real Estate (CRE), and Emirates Gas further contributed to the Group's success, respectively achieving savings of Dhs539,448 and Dhs139,409. Enoc's commitment to sustainability is evident in its portfolio of successful initiatives spanning water conservation, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. These include Solar PV implementation across facilities, LED lighting installation throughout operations, and advanced water management solutions.

Energy and water-saving systems, solar integration, and a growing network of electric vehicle charging stations are also being introduced across the group's line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Dubai Sustainable Tourism strategy, The First Group Hospitality is also moving away from single-use plastics and embracing sustainably sourced materials in their properties."Our aim is not simply to adapt to shifting expectations, but to lead with purpose and ensure that exceptional hospitality is delivered with lasting environmental responsibility," Stevens Al Jaddaf, part of the global Barceló Hotel Group, is equally committed to local impact and environmental to Eduardo Espiritusanto, General Manager of Barceló Al Jaddaf, the hotel sources at least half of its fruit and vegetables from local producers. "In addition to this, the property has implemented a series of measures to reduce water and energy consumption, such as the installation of solar panels in the hotel and the use of high-pressure shower beads in the bathrooms of all rooms, reducing water consumption by 50%," Espiritusanto told Aletihad . "Every plastic container is segregated through our structured recycling programme and handed over to certified vendors, ensuring that no plastic waste ends up in landfill or our oceans."In line with the World Environment Day 2025 theme, "Beat Plastic Pollution", the hotel takes part in campaigns such as "Recycle. Reforest. Repeat", where each 1,000kg of collected cartons funds the planting of a tree in partnership with the Emirates Environmental Group."Beyond plastic reduction, we support the nation's broader sustainability goals through energy-efficient technologies, such as 100% LED lighting, motion-sensor fixtures, 3M heat-resistant window film, and a Building Management System that optimises cooling," Yazoglu hotel also offers on-site electric vehicle charging stations and converts non-recyclable waste into energy, in collaboration with Dubai Municipality under its "No Waste to Landfill" policy. Mashreq Lists USD 500 Million Sukuk on Nasdaq Dubai Amid Strong Global Demand
Mashreq has marked a key milestone in its Islamic finance journey with the listing of a USD 500 million Sukuk on Nasdaq Dubai, following strong investor demand and signaling renewed confidence in the region's capital markets. The Sukuk, due in 2030, was issued by Mashreq Al Islami Sukuk Company Ltd. under the bank's USD 2.5 billion Trust Certificate Issuance Programme. Attracting an oversubscribed orderbook of USD 2.9 billion, the issuance saw broad participation from over 90 global investors across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. The listing ceremony was attended by senior Mashreq executives, including Group CEO Ahmed Abdelaal, who rang the market-opening bell alongside Hamed Ali, CEO of Nasdaq Dubai and Dubai Financial Market. Abdelaal described the debut listing as a 'new chapter' in Mashreq's capital markets strategy, highlighting its disciplined funding approach and commitment to sustainable, Sharia-compliant financial solutions. Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Chairman of Mashreq, called the listing a demonstration of the bank's role in advancing global Islamic finance. Hamed Ali noted that the move underscores Nasdaq Dubai's position as a global platform linking regional issuers with international investors and supporting diversified financing needs. The successful Sukuk launch is also significant as it marked the first public issuance from the CEEMEA region since the announcement of U.S. tariffs in April 2025, which had stirred global market volatility.
