Andhra liquor scam: Kickbacks ''systematically' laundered through office boys or employees-Police
The Special Investigation Team probing the alleged liquor scam filed a supplementary chargesheet on Monday.
"During the course of investigation, it was revealed that the accused have systematically laundered the kickback amount with the help of low-profile individuals who were working as office boys or employees in the companies owned by the accused," officials said quoting the chargesheet.
"Such employees and individuals acted as couriers and mules for depositing illicit cash into a network of bank accounts linked to the syndicate," they added.
This pattern of cash layering and circulation demonstrates a deliberate attempt to conceal the origin of crime proceeds, constituting a classic case of structured money laundering and concealment under the garb of petty deposits, they further said.
A portion of the liquor kickbacks was transferred to the employees and associates of the accused as salary, they further said adding it was also observed that several of such low-profile individuals were made to send the cash deposited into their account to other accused.
The SIT probing the alleged liquor scam arrested several people, including YSRCP Lok Sabha member PV Midhun Reddy, in the case.
In May, the Enforcement Directorate also filed a money laundering case to investigate the alleged liquor scam.
The federal probe agency has filed an Enforcement Case Information Report under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act to probe alleged irregularities in the sales of liquor in the state.
The previous chargesheet filed last month mentioned former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as the recipient of kickbacks averaging ₹50- ₹60 crore per month.
The 305-page chargesheet, however, stopped short of naming Jagan accused.
When contacted, former minister and senior YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu told PTI that all the allegations made in the chargesheet are baseless and 'created' ones.

ED arrests Capital Protection Force CA in Falcon fraud case
1 2 Hyderabad: Enforcement Directorate (ED) Hyderabad unit on Wednesday arrested Sharad Chandra Toshniwal, a chartered accountant, under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with an ongoing investigation of the Falcon invoice discounting fraud. A case was booked against Capital Protection Force Pvt Ltd, Amardeep Kumar, and others. Toshniwal was produced before the Special PMLA Court, which remanded him in 14-day judicial custody. ED had initiated an investigation based on three FIRs registered by the Economic Offences Wing, Cyberabad, in which it was alleged that the accused fraudulently cheated gullible investors on the pretext of high returns on their investments. The ED investigation revealed that Capital Protection Force Pvt Ltd started the 'Falcon invoice discounting scheme', luring investors on the pretext of providing funds for invoice discounting in exchange for promising returns based on the invoices discounted. The accused failed to repay their invested amounts. Amardeep Kumar was the mastermind behind the scam, and he developed the Falcon invoice app to receive deposits from the investors. The ED investigation revealed that, in reality, no business of invoice discounting was carried out, and the accused cheated investors to the tune of 792 crore. Ltd. since its incorporation. ED stated that the accused auditor was fully aware of the fraudulent transactions carried out in Capital Protection Force Pvt. Ltd. in the name of the 'Falcon invoice discounting business'. Toshniwal was managing the finances of several entities belonging to Amardeep Kumar and his family members. The investigation revealed that Toshniwal assisted Amardeep Kumar in investing the proceeds of crime (POC) generated from the invoice discounting business into several companies such as Rhett Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., Rhett Herbal Pvt. Ltd., RDP Workstations Pvt. Ltd., and Swastik Ghee Pvt. Ltd. For his services in laundering the POC, Toshniwal had himself acquired shares in the said companies in the names of his relatives and benamis. The chartered accountant was also involved in arranging cash in lieu of the transfer of POC to different entities without any business purpose. He was directly responsible for arranging 14 crore cash and thus played an active role in the concealment of POC. ED had earlier attached movable and immovable properties worth 18 crore in the case and arrested Sandeep Kumar, the brother of the main accused, Amardeep Kumar. Manipur Violence Cases: Civil Society Body Seeks Supreme Court-Monitored SIT Probe
New Delhi: A civil society organisation comprising several prominent personalities that visited Manipur has recommended the setting up of a special investigating team (SIT) under the Supreme Court's supervision to probe all cases of ethnic violence in the northeast state and the role of security forces. The 'Independent People's Tribunal on the Ongoing Ethnic Conflict in Manipur', headed by former Supreme Court judge Kurian Joseph also recommended that the "hate propaganda and inflammatory speeches" that led to "incitement and escalation" of violence need to be prosecuted along with action against the authorities who "failed to exercise their powers to prevent it". The recommendations were made in a report prepared after a team of jurors and experts visited the conflict-affected areas in Manipur and held sittings in different districts of Manipur, including Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Imphal West, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Senapati, followed by sittings in Delhi, to record testimonies and receive submissions from various stakeholders, according to a press release. Additionally, testimonies and submissions were also received by jury members virtually. The team members also visited a number of relief camps in Manipur to talk to survivors, including children, women and elderly displaced on account of the conflict. Survivors and victims from different communities, service organisations providing relief to affected people, and organisations representing community interests, deposed before the tribunal. The team members also met with various government functionaries and officials of security forces. "The Supreme Court should appoint an SIT consisting of senior independent officers from states other than Manipur to monitor the cases arising out of the conflict. The SIT should be monitored by the Supreme Court, and the SIT should report to the Supreme Court every month," the press release said. The tribunal recommended that the Supreme Court-appointed SIT should investigate the role of the armed forces and other security forces in the conflict, and there should be a departmental enquiry as well as criminal action against those found to have violated the law in any way, not only by direct participation but also by omission to act appropriately. The SIT should investigate the incidents of hate speeches which occurred directly prior to and during the conflict and arrest and prosecute the perpetrators, including political figures and state functionaries, and the state government should provide adequate protection to all the witnesses. The tribunal also suggested that a permanent bench of the Manipur High Court should be established in the hill region, it said.
