Attorney General: Saudi Arabia will confront crimes that threaten Hajj security

MINA — Saudi Attorney General Sheikh Saud Al-Moajab underscored the critical importance of judicial protection for the holy sites and the Hajj pilgrims. He emphasized that the Public Prosecution's mission during the Hajj season is delivering swift justice and ensuring a safe and secure Hajj.
Sheikh Al-Moajab made the remarks during an inspection tour of the Public Prosecution offices operating for this year's Hajj in the holy sites. He assessed their readiness and preparations for the Hajj in addition to inaugurating a number of new Public Prosecution offices during the visit.
Sheikh Al-Moajab reiterated that the Saudi authorities will confront crimes that threaten Hajj security. He emphasized the need to complete all cases in a short time using modern technology, keeping pace with the current developments in serving pilgrims. This will be accomplished by qualified cadres of the Public Prosecution.
He stressed the need for swift initiation of criminal proceedings against any actions violating the sanctity of religious rituals, including fraud, deception, commercial misconduct, or breaches of approved Saudi standards for pilgrim products and services.
The attorney general underlined the imperative to combat cybercrimes that could threaten Hajj security or disrupt pilgrims' peace of mind, emphasizing the necessity of taking all requisite legal measures.

Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — In a move that highlights Saudi Arabia's growing prominence in global pharmaceutical governance, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has been officially elected to the Management Committee of the Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities (MedDRA). The authority has thus become the sixth regulatory authority worldwide to join this prestigious global medical body. This election marks a pivotal milestone for both Saudi Arabia and the international scientific community, reflecting global confidence in the SFDA's regulatory excellence and the Kingdom's strategic role in advancing international harmonization in drug safety and medical product oversight. MedDRA, developed by the International Council for Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH), is a globally recognized standard for coding and analyzing safety data across the lifecycle of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical products. It plays a central role in regulatory communication, post-market surveillance, clinical trial reporting, and signal detection. SFDA's election to the MedDRA Steering committee was confirmed during the ICH Management Committee meeting held in Madrid, Spain, from May 11–12, 2025. With this appointment, SFDA joins a group of regulators, including the European Commission, U.S. FDA, UK MHRA, Health Canada, Japan's MHLW and PMDA, alongside the World Health Organization (WHO), which participates as an observer.
