Rocket Lab Successfully Launches 10th Electron Mission for Multi-Launch Customer BlackSky

Yahoo03-06-2025
Today's success marks Electron's 65th overall mission and Electron's seventh successful mission this year.
MAHIA, New Zealand, June 03, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rocket Lab USA, Inc. (Nasdaq: RKLB) ("Rocket Lab" or "the Company"), a global leader in launch services and space systems, today successfully launched its 65th Electron to deploy Earth-imaging satellites for real-time space-based intelligence company BlackSky.
The 'Full Stream Ahead' mission lifted-off from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 in Mahia, New Zealand at 11:57 am NZST (23:57 UTC on June 2nd), successfully deploying a Gen-3 satellite by BlackSky to a 470 km circular earth orbit and further expanding the company's low Earth orbit constellation. Gen-3 was also deployed from a Rocket Lab Motorized Lightband, a separation system for satellites that Rocket Lab has provided BlackSky for each of its launches on Electron to date.
'Full Stream Ahead' is the second in a series of four Electron launches booked by BlackSky to deploy its Gen-3 satellites to orbit this year, and the tenth overall launch for the company since 2019 – making Electron the go-to launch vehicle for BlackSky's constellation to date. Rocket Lab successfully deployed the first of BlackSky's new missions, 'Fasten Your Seatbelts', earlier this year in February 2025.
Launching just 16 days after Rocket Lab's prior Electron mission from Launch Complex 1, 'Full Stream Ahead' underscores Electron's reliability amid an accelerating launch cadence. This quick succession of launches with 100% mission success solidifies Electron as one of the world's most consistently and reliably utilized orbital launch vehicles.
Rocket Lab founder and CEO, Sir Peter Beck, said: "Another successful mission to add to Electron's already stellar track record of providing reliable orbital access for constellation developers across the globe. We're laser-focused on delivering an increasing cadence of regular and reliable dedicated access to space for small satellite operators with Electron, and looking forward to continuing to deploy BlackSky's constellation with more Electron launches in the months to come."
"With each successive launch BlackSky expands on-orbit capacity, introduces Gen-3 capabilities and furthers our ability to meet the demands of the most time-dominant missions. Our partnership with Rocket Lab has demonstrated exceptional agility in deploying capacity where and when our customers need it most," said Brian O'Toole, BlackSky CEO.
Today's launch for BlackSky will be Electron's seventh successful mission of 2025, Rocket Lab's 65th launch overall, and brings the total number of satellites delivered to space by Electron to 226.

Forward Air misses Q2 mark; investors await strategic review decision

Transportation and logistics provider Forward Air missed second-quarter expectations on Monday after the market closed. Forward Air didn't provide an update on an ongoing strategic review process that could include selling the company following the fallout of its heavily contested merger with Omni Logistics. For the time being, Forward's current leadership team is tasked with executing a marketing plan that now includes a freight forwarding business alongside its legacy linehaul operations. Forward (NASDAQ: FWRD) reported a second-quarter net loss from continuing operations of $20.4 million ($12.6 million attributable to Forward Air, or 41 cents per share). The result was worse than the consensus estimate calling for a per-share loss of 26 cents. Consolidated revenue of $619 million was 4% lower year over year. Revenue increased 1% from the first quarter. Forward's management team touted 'across-the-board' business wins in truckload, international airfreight and ground transportation on a Monday evening conference call. It said many of the wins came from existing customers. Recent press releases from the company referenced the addition of 15,000 annual expedited TL shipments from a 'leader in the package delivery services industry,' as well as a separate distribution services and TL contract with an athletics brand. The company's expedited segment, which includes less-than-truckload operations, reported a 12% y/y revenue decline to $258 million. Tonnage fell 13% y/y (up slightly from the first quarter) while revenue per hundredweight, or yield, increased 2% y/y excluding fuel surcharges (flat sequentially). The yield improvement was attributed to 'pricing actions' taken earlier this year. Forward again increased shipment weights in the quarter. Weight per shipment was up 3% y/y in the period (up less than 1% sequentially). (Higher shipment weights negatively impact the yield calculation.) Expedited reported a 7.6% operating margin, which was 10 basis points higher y/y and 130 bps better than the first quarter. Salaries, wages and benefits (as a percentage of revenue) declined 100 bps y/y. Purchased transportation expenses were down 60 bps. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of $30 million in the unit was $4 million higher than in the first quarter. An 11.6% adjusted EBITDA margin was 120 bps better sequentially. Omni reported revenue of $328, a 5% y/y increase. The segment recorded adjusted EBITDA of $30 million (a 9% adjusted EBITDA margin) compared to $26 million in the first quarter (a 7.9% adjusted EBITDA margin). Consolidated adjusted EBITDA of $74 million was $5 million higher than in the first quarter. That pushed last 12 months' (LTM) adjusted EBITDA to $298 million. Net debt of $1.69 billion stood at 5.7 times LTM adjusted EBITDA, an increase from 5.3 times at the end of the first quarter. Liquidity at the end of the second quarter was $368 million, a $25 million decline from the first quarter. However, the change included $34 million in semi-annual interest payments. Cash flow from operations totaled $14 million in the first half of the year. (The company used $13 million in cash in the second quarter.) Shares of FWRD closed on Monday at $28.57, down 5.6% on the day and well below the $110 closing price on the last trading session before the merger was announced in August 2023. The stock was 1.3% higher in after-hours trading on Monday. How Major US Stock Indexes Fared Aug. 11

U.S. stocks edged back from their record heights in Wall Street's final moves before an upcoming update on inflation. The S&P 500 fell 0.3 percent after flirting with its all-time high earlier in the day. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 0.5 percent, and the Nasdaq shaved 0.3 percent off its record. The highlight of this week for Wall Street is likely to arrive on Tuesday, when the government will report how bad inflation was across the country in July. A hot reading could discourage the Federal Reserve from delivering the cuts to interest rates that President Donald Trump has been demanding. On Monday: The S&P 500 fell 16.00 points, or 0.3 percent, to 6,373.45. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 200.52 points, or 0.5 percent, to 43,975.09. The Nasdaq composite fell 64.62 points, or 0.3 percent, to 21,385.40. The Russell 2000 index of smaller companies fell 1.91 points, or 0.1 percent, to 2,216.51. For the year: The S&P 500 is up 491.82 points, or 8.4 percent. The Dow is up 1,430.87 points, or 3.4 percent. The Nasdaq is up 2,074.61 points, or 10.7 percent. The Russell 2000 is down 13.65 points, or 0.6 percent.

‘Too Many Red Flags,' Says Top Investor About Tesla Stock

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) stock has faced a rough ride in 2025, with shares sliding sharply before staging a recovery in recent months – yet still leaving investors down about 15% year-to-date. At the heart of this downturn is a slowdown in EV sales, pressured by intensifying competition – particularly from Chinese rivals – and a tarnished brand image fueled by CEO Elon Musk's constant forays into politics. Elevate Your Investing Strategy: Take advantage of TipRanks Premium at 50% off! Unlock powerful investing tools, advanced data, and expert analyst insights to help you invest with confidence. The sales trend has been moving in the wrong direction for some time: Q2 2025 marked the second straight year-over-year decline, and even the ever-optimistic Musk conceded that the company could be in for a 'rough' couple of quarters. While that's a sobering admission, Tesla's future isn't devoid of promise. The company is working on multiple ambitious fronts, from full self-driving technology to autonomous robots and AI initiatives. But whether Tesla is actually on the right track to capture those opportunities is a point of contention. One top investor known by the pseudonym Noah's Arc Capital Management is worried that Tesla is not positioning itself to take full advantage of these vast opportunities. 'Tesla's growth momentum has faltered, and this downturn was more than just a blip,' explains the 5-star investor, who is among the top 2% of TipRanks' stock pros. It is not just the slowing EV numbers that have Noah's Arc up in arms, but a lack of discipline that the company seems to be demonstrating. The investor is anxious to see Tesla focus more on full self-driving, believing this to be the big money maker going forward. Instead, Noah's Arc is dismayed that Musk is chasing political sideshows and marginal business ventures (such as the Tesla Diner). 'His attention is divided among so many different endeavors, and Tesla is only getting a small share of that,' adds Noah's Arc. That's never an ideal scenario, but it becomes even more damaging when the company's full self-driving ambitions remain far behind Alphabet's Waymo. And yet, even with the most recent drop in share price, Tesla continues to trade at a 'stretched' valuation, with a Forward Price-to-Earnings multiple north of 190x. This, according to Noah's Arc, leaves nary any 'margin for error.' 'I'm double-downgrading Tesla from strong buy to hold due to Musk's distractions and operational risks outweighing prior bullishness,' sums up Noah's Arc. (To watch Noah's Arc's track record, click here) That's right around where Wall Street finds itself as well. With 14 Buy, 15 Hold, and 8 Sell ratings, TSLA has a consensus Hold (i.e. Neutral) rating. Its 12-month average price target of $307.23 implies ~11% downside from current levels.
