Amrish Puri is one of Bollywood's most iconic actors, renowned for his unforgettable villain roles. However, his off-screen persona was completely different, as he led a life filled with kindness, devotion and love. The beautiful relationship he shared with his wife, Urmila Puri, was often overlooked due to his cinematic legacy. Their love story is purely 'green flag' in today's generation.
The couple met each other in Delhi, when Amrish was an aspiring actor in the world of theatre. Although, it wasn't a usual grand Bollywood love stories, but still the two had a pure and deep connection that blossomed over time.
In an interview with Peeping Moon, Amrish Puri's grandson, Vardhan Puri, shared some adorable insights about his grandfather's love life. He spoke about their first meetup, and how their unwavering love for each other won everyone over. He said, 'Dadi was South Indian and dadu was Punjabi and when their families got to know about their liking for each other, they did not like it and were against their marriage. But soon dadi and dadu convinced their family members and got married with their blessings.'
Urmila, who was teacher by profession, was an unwavering support in Amrish's journey to success. She understood his ambition and supported him both practically and emotionally during his long years of struggle. Amrish called Urmila his pillar of strength, saying, 'Mai hero banu ya na banu, iss ghar ki hero toh meri biwi hi hai.'
After Amrish's carer rose to stardom in 80s and 90s with his memorable performances in films like Mr India, DDLJ, and Karan Arjun, he stayed humbled, continuing to cherish his wife for her incredible support throughout his career.

Diljit Dosanjh Faces Ban Threats, Called 'Deshdrohi' Amid Sardaar Ji 3 Controversy

Last Updated: Pakistani artists in India were banned in April this year after Pakistan-sponsored terrorists attacked civilians in the Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam, killing 26 people. Diljit Dosanjh has landed in a big controversy once again. The Punjabi singer-actor, who is currently gearing up for the release of his next movie Sardaar Ji 3, has been accused of non-cooperation amid allegations that his film also stars Pakistani actors Hania Aamir, Nasir Chinyoti, Daniel Khawar, and Saleem Albela. On Friday, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) president, BN Tiwari, condemned Diljit Dosanjh's actions and threatened to ban him from the film industry. 'If Diljit Dosanjh or any other artist continues to act like this, an action will not just be taken against their film but against them as well. They will be accused of non-cooperation. We have no place for traitors. The film industry cannot support people who are against this country. We need to stop people who are sitting in India but are helping others. We are getting multiple names. They will be ousted from the industry if they do not work for the betterment of the country," he said. Earlier today, FWICE also wrote a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to withhold certification of Diljit Dosanjh's movie. 'In light of recent directives issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B Ministry), prohibiting Pakistani-origin content and collaboration with Pakistani artistes in Indian productions, and the parallel stance adopted by FWICE, we urge CBFC to align with these directives and national interest considerations before proceeding with certification," the letter read. Pakistani artists in India were banned in April this year after Pakistan-sponsored terrorists attacked civilians in the Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam, and killed 26 people in cold blood. Amid the tensions, the Government of India had issued an advisory to OTT platforms, media streaming services, and intermediaries regarding content originating from Pakistan. All streaming platforms were advised to discontinue Pakistan-origin content, including films, web series, songs, and podcasts, with immediate effect. Social media accounts of Pakistani actors were also banned in India. However, when Diljit shared BTS pictures from Sardaar Ji 3 sets on social media recently, netizens wondered if Hania would also be a part of the Punjabi singer's movie. In one of the photos, a woman resembling Hania was seen standing just behind Neeru, her cropped hair and eyes barely visible — but unmistakable to devoted followers. As of now, there's no official word on Hania's status in Sardaar Ji 3, but the behind-the-scenes whispers — and screenshots — are enough to keep fans and critics talking. First Published:
