Silver prices in the physical market crossed the Rs 1 lakh per kilogram mark once again on Thursday as the retail price of 999-grade silver stood at Rs 98,492 per kg, according to data by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA).After including the 3% Goods and Services Tax (GST), the effective price stands at Rs 1,01346.76 per kg, breaching the critical psychological level for the second time this year. The sharp move comes amid growing optimism about silver's potential to catch up with gold in the current precious metals bull cycle. Analysts point to a rare structural mismatch between supply and demand as a key driver.Arihant Bardia, CIO and Founder at Valtrust, noted in a recent article, '2025 will mark the fifth consecutive year of silver deficit,' highlighting that industrial demand is rising, while mining and recycling supplies remain relatively stagnant.'This deficit isn't a temporary aberration – it's become structural,' he added, explaining that the shortfall is creating a bottleneck that appears increasingly unsustainable. Since 2021, silver has experienced annual deficits ranging from 79 million ounces to an estimated 250 million ounces projected for the current year.Bardia also underscored the growing role of silver in green technologies, particularly solar panels, electric vehicles, and electronics, which are now contributing significantly to overall consumption.'This industrial component provides an additional catalyst beyond monetary demand,' he said, noting that technological adoption, especially in emerging economies, is steadily pushing up the demand floor. Also read: Big prediction from Rich Dad Poor Dad author Robert Kiyosaki: Gold will go to $25,000 Adding fuel to the narrative, renowned financial author Robert Kiyosaki — known for his book Rich Dad Poor Dad — issued a bold forecast on social media platform X earlier this week. He wrote, 'Good news. Gold will go to $25,000. Silver to $70. Bitcoin to $500k to $1 million.'His aggressive stance on silver reinforces the sentiment that the white metal, often overshadowed by gold, may be primed for a re-rating.The silver market's tightness and long-term underperformance relative to gold have also brought the gold-to-silver ratio under scrutiny. Historically, a mean of 68:1 is considered equilibrium, but recent levels around 100:1 suggest silver may be undervalued. Therefore, if gold prices hold steady and the ratio reverts to its historical average, Bardia estimates that silver could rise to around Rs 165 per gram, implying upside of nearly 70% from current levels. However, he cautioned against excessive enthusiasm. 'Silver is notoriously volatile,' Bardia warned, advocating for a tactical approach with a portfolio allocation of no more than 5%, clear profit targets, and strict stop-losses.With both structural fundamentals and speculative interest aligning, silver appears to be regaining the attention it once commanded.

Sindhu Bhavan multilevel parking: AMC opts for sale deed to bypass 18% GST
Ahmedabad: The civic body's policy making body has opted to sell 16 offices and 29 shops in the Sindhu Bhavan Multilevel Parking Complex through sale deeds, bypassing the 18% GST applicable on 99-year lease deeds. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The standing committee approved the proposal on Thursday. An official announcement is expected shortly. Previously, the AMC leased out properties for 99 years, but the GST had prompted a change. In July 2023, AMC attempted to sell 68 shops floor-wise in the same complex, offering 12,868.62 sq m of office-type space on the ground, first and fifth floors at a base price of Rs 197 crore. The auction failed to attract buyers for the first and fifth floors. Only one bidder emerged for the 4,158.33 sq m ground floor, bidding Rs 80 crore, though payment remains pending. AMC has now extended the deadline and will now auction the remaining units via sale deed. Standing committee chairman Devang Dani confirmed, "If the property is sold through a 99-year lease deed, GST is applicable. So now, the shops/offices will be sold via sale deed."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the trains on Friday, with commercial operations commencing on Saturday. Both trains will operate return journeys during the day, taking approximately three hours to cover the distance between Srinagar and Katra. These trains are being inaugurated as special trains. Train 26401 will take 2 hours and 58 minutes, with chair car fares at Rs 715 and executive class at Rs 1,320. This train will depart from Katra at 8.10 am and arrive in Srinagar at 11.08 am, with a two-minute stop at Banihal at 9.56 am. On its return journey, the train will be numbered 26402. It will cost Rs 880 for a chair car and Rs 1,515 for the executive class. The train will depart from Srinagar at 2 pm and arrive in Katra at 4.58 pm, with a two-minute stop at Banihal at 3.08 pm. Trains 26401/26402 will operate six days a week, except Tuesdays. Train 26403 will depart from Katra at 2.55 pm and arrive in Srinagar at 5.53 pm, covering the distance in 2 hours and 58 minutes. The fare for this train will be Rs 660 for a chair car seat and Rs 1,270 for executive class. The difference in ticket price from the first Vande Bharat train is due to a difference in catering charges. From Srinagar, train 26404 will depart at 8 am and arrive in Katra at 10.58 am, with a two-minute stop at Banihal at 9 am. Tickets will cost Rs 715 for a chair car and Rs 1,320 for executive class. Trains 26403/04 will operate six days a week, except Wednesdays. The trains will pass through scenic landscapes all-weather train connectivity to Kashmir is a reality. Specially Designed Vande Bharat Trains These two trains are upgraded to withstand the unusually harsh weather in Kashmir. Vande Bharat trains on this route are specially designed with anti-freezing technology, using silicon heating pads to prevent freezing of water and bio-toilets in extreme cold. Heated plumbing pipelines are installed with self-regulating heating cables to prevent water from freezing, ensuring smooth operations even in sub-zero temperatures. The train coaches include a heating system for sub-zero conditions in Srinagar, 360-degree rotating seats, and charging points for passenger comfort. Overcoming the challenges of snow, freezing temperatures, and extreme conditions, these trains ensure uninterrupted services, the Railways has promised. Connecting Jammu Soon While these trains are initially connecting only Katra and Srinagar, in the future, the train operations will be extended to Jammu to offer direct connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir. 'Currently, the railway station in Jammu is under redevelopment. As soon as the work is completed, we will consider extending the service till Jammu," a ministry official told News18. PM Modi was originally scheduled to inaugurate these trains in April, but weather delays and the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam postponed the launch. Now, the long-awaited Vande Bharat journey to Kashmir is set to begin.
