Man Accused of Killing 4 Family Members and Abandoning Baby in Tennessee Is Arrested
Authorities in Tennessee say they have arrested the man accused of killing four family members and abandoning an infant in a stranger's yard.
Austin Robert Drummond is accused of killing Adrianna Williams, 20, James M. Wilson, 21, Cortney Rose, 38, and Braydon Williams, 15, who were found dead on July 29, authorities said. Their bodies were discovered after James and Adrianna's baby was found 25 miles away.
Following a multi-day manhunt, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Drummond was in law enforcement custody in Jackson, Tenn., on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
Previously, authorities had obtained a warrant for Drummond's arrest on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, felon in possession of a firearm and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
The victims were the mother, father, grandmother and uncle of the infant, who was found in Dyer County, police said.
Drummond's empty car was found on Friday, Aug. 1, over an hour's drive away from where the four deceased individuals were located, the Dyer County Sheriff's Office said.

Sparks coach Lynne Roberts calls out fans after another sex toy is thrown onto the court: 'It's ridiculous'
It's happened again in the WNBA. A bright green sex toy was launched onto the court in the first half of the Los Angeles Sparks' 100-91 win over the Indiana Fever at Arena on Tuesday night. It marked the latest time within the past week that such a sex toy has made its way onto the court. After Kelsey Plum made a free throw in the final minutes of the second quarter in Los Angeles, the sex toy was thrown from the baseline and landed near Fever star Sophie Cunningham's leg — which sent her hopping up and down in shock. Plum wasted no time, and immediately kicked it off the court. The toy was immediately covered up by towels, and security started investigating. It's unclear if the person who threw it was identified. "It's ridiculous. It's dumb. It's stupid," Sparks coach Lynne Roberts said after the game of the string of incidents. "It's also dangerous, and you know, player safety is number one, respecting the game, all those things. "I think it's really stupid." Plum jumped in after, too, and said they just want to ignore it as much as possible. 'I thought too we did a great job, Indiana included, just playing on," she said. "Don't give it any attention. The refs, I really appreciate them too.' The incidents first started last Tuesday, when a green sex toy was thrown onto the court in Atlanta in the final minute of the Golden State Valkyries' win over the Dream. It happened again in the Valkyries' win over the Chicago Sky on Friday, too. After the second toss, multiple players started speaking out. Cunningham addressed it on social media, too. 'It's super disrespectful,' Sky center Elizabeth Williams said on Friday. 'I don't really get the point of it. It's really immature. Whoever is doing it needs to grow up.' Then on Saturday, the WNBA announced that a person had been arrested for throwing the sex toy during the Valkyries-Dream matchup. The fan was later identified as Delbert Carver, 23, according to He was charged with disorderly conduct, public indecency/incident exposure and criminal trespass. The league also promised to immediately eject any fans who throw objects onto the court, as well as pursue criminal charges and hit them with a one-year ban. The incident wasn't isolated to Los Angeles on Tuesday night, either. A similar sex toy was thrown onto the court during the New York Liberty-Dallas Wings game at the Barclays Center on Tuesday night, too. The Liberty declined to comment. While plenty have spoken out already, and the league is already pursuing some very significant punishments and legal action, the incidents only appear to be escalating across the league.

Stockton city manager investigates $50,000 payment tied to "Wild 'n Out" event
The Stockton City Manager's Office announced Tuesday that an investigation has been launched into a $50,000 payment made months ago. This was allegedly to prevent the cancellation of a comedy show that Vice Mayor Jason Lee was involved with. The "Wild 'n Out" comedy show happened in May at the Adventist Health Arena in Stockton. Lee is friends with some of the performers and posted a video of him participating in the event on his Facebook page. The city manager says it has recently come to light that $50,000 from the city's risk mitigation fund was used in connection with the event without his knowledge or approval. Lee is also calling for an independent, outside investigation into all of this, calling it a politically motivated retaliation. He believes this is all in response to his own investigation into budget and hiring concerns by the city manager's office. He discussed this during Monday's Audit Committee meeting. "This whole week has been a political witch hunt to prove somehow that the vice mayor conspired with city staff to go in the bank accounts to give $50,000 to a brand that lost $175,000 on top of the $50,000 in an approved fund that they've used in the past," Lee said in the meeting. "It was also an opportunity to silence the voice of staff who are bringing forward serious concerns with respect to internal controls that are out of control." Mayor Christina Fugazi also commented on his investigation into the city manager's office. "An outside investigator will be looking into money that was authorized to be spent that maybe shouldn't have, or I'm not quite sure. I only say that because it didn't go through the city manager, and all of that kind of stuff should be going through the city manager," Mayor Fugazi said. "Anything that has to do with disbursement of funds, the city manager should know about." Lee also says the Audit Committee reviewed the city's partnership with ASM Global, the event promoter of "Wild 'n Out," created by Nick Cannon. Lee says the committee's recommendation for an outside investigation will go before the city council immediately. The interim city manager says his investigation will look into whether any city policies or procedures were bypassed and if any lines were crossed.

Trump reignites threat to take over DC after former DOGE worker assaulted in attempted carjacking
Donald Trump DOGEFacebookTweetLink Follow President Donald Trump on Tuesday reignited his threat for the federal government to 'run' Washington, DC, after a former Department of Government Efficiency employee was assaulted in an attempted carjacking. 'I have to say that somebody from DOGE was very badly hurt … A young man who was beat up by a bunch of thugs in DC, and either they're gonna straighten their act out in the terms of government and in terms of protection or we're gonna have to federalize and run it the way it's supposed to be run,' Trump told reporters Tuesday. Edward Coristine, the 19-year-old former DOGE worker once known by the online moniker 'Big Balls,' and another individual were assaulted in an attempted carjacking on Sunday, according to a DC Police Department incident report obtained by CNN affiliate WUSA. Police saw a group of around 10 juveniles surround Coristine's vehicle and assault him, the incident report said. When police exited their vehicle, the juveniles ran away. Two 15-year-olds 'were arrested and charged with Unarmed Carjacking,' according to DC police. Coristine earlier this year was tapped to take part in a sweeping overhaul of the US government through DOGE, CNN previously reported, working as a 'senior advisor' with access to various departments, including Homeland Security, FEMA and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Coristine joined the Social Security Administration earlier this summer to work on its website, an agency spokesperson told CNN in June. 'Crime in Washington, D.C., is totally out of control. Local 'youths' and gang members, some only 14, 15, and 16-years-old, are randomly attacking, mugging, maiming, and shooting innocent Citizens, at the same time knowing that they will be almost immediately released. They are not afraid of Law Enforcement because they know nothing ever happens to them, but it's going to happen now!' Trump wrote Tuesday on Truth Social. 'The Law in D.C. must be changed to prosecute these 'minors' as adults, and lock them up for a long time, starting at age 14,' Trump said. Trump continued: 'If D.C. doesn't get its act together, and quickly, we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City, and run this City how it should be run, and put criminals on notice that they're not going to get away with it anymore. Perhaps it should have been done a long time ago, then this incredible young man, and so many others, would not have had to go through the horrors of Violent Crime. If this continues, I am going to exert my powers, and FEDERALIZE this City.' DC Mayor Muriel Bowser's office declined to comment on Trump's remarks when reached by CNN. Billionaire Elon Musk – who previously led DOGE – joined in the president's criticism, writing in a post on X, 'It is time to federalize DC.' Trump's rekindled warning comes has Bowser, a leading figure in the Democratic resistance during the president's first term, has treaded carefully through Trump's second term. CNN previously reported Bowser has faced criticism from some local officials for her less defiant approach. Bowser in March announced the removal of the Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington after Republicans in Congress threatened to withhold funding for the district if it kept the two-block mural intact. The mayor told CNN at the time, 'We have bigger fish to fry,' citing the looming financial and existential crises her city suddenly faces under Trump. Earlier this year, Trump said that the federal government should 'take over' DC. 'I think that we should govern District of Columbia. It's so important, the DC situation. I think that we should run it strong, run it with law and order. Make it absolutely, flawlessly beautiful. And I think we should take over Washington, DC,' Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One in February. 'Make it safe. People are getting killed. People are being hurt. You have a great police department there, but somehow, they're not utilized properly.' In March, Trump signed an executive order establishing a 'D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force,' aiming to ensure federal participation in a number of city issues, including maximum enforcement of federal immigration laws and beefing up federal and local law enforcement presence in certain areas. The order aims to ensure that 'all applicable quality of life, nuisance, and public-safety laws are strictly enforced,' including crimes involving assault, battery, larceny, graffiti, public intoxication and more.
