'Empat Live in KL 2025' concert brings Ziana family's dream to life

THE upcoming 'Empat Live in Kuala Lumpur 2025' concert will unite siblings Ziana Zain and Anuar Zain, along with their niece Ernie Zakri and nephew-in-law Syamel, on one stage for the very first time.
Speaking about the concert, which will take place at Mega Star Arena in Bukit Bintang here on Oct 18, Anuar said it is a tribute to their family's artistic journey, while also establishing themselves as a brand in the local music industry.
''Empat' (four) isn't just a number. It's a collaboration among four artistes from the same family. We hope it will become a legacy and a historic moment for us.
'We also hope it will be something people talk about for a long time,' he said at a press conference recently.
To further excite fans, the four will also be releasing a brand-new single in conjunction with the concert, centered around the theme of universal love and composed by Edry Abdul Halim.
Anuar, who worked with Edry about 15 years ago on the hit song 'Sedetik Lebih', described him as a smart and experienced songwriter and composer.
'When we met Edry, he gave us two song options. But one of them really captured our hearts. Without saying much, the four of us immediately agreed once we heard it,' he said.
Anuar added that Edry understood the vocal characteristics of all four singers and crafted an arrangement that suited them well, which made the recording process smooth from start to finish.
Organised by Anuar Zain Network in collaboration with Altus ProHouse, 'Konsert Empat Live In Kuala Lumpur 2025' is expected to be one of the most memorable music events of the year.
Meanwhile, Ziana said the concert not only fulfills the dreams of loyal fans who have supported their artistic journeys but also marks a special moment for their family.
'We want this concert to be the most meaningful moment in their (fans') lives and ours too. Hopefully, it becomes a beautiful story to be remembered even when we are no longer here,' she said, adding the concert is expected to feature over 20 songs which they will perform solo or as a duet or group.
Ernie, who grew up watching her uncle and aunt performing on stage, described the concert as a dream come true.
'When I was told the concert was going to happen, I felt a mix of emotions – touched, overwhelmed and proud. This is a major moment in my life,' she said.
The concert will be directed by Jennifer Thompson while the music director is Lee Sze Wan.
Only 15 percent of the tickets for the concert are now remaining since they went on sale on April 25 and are available at www.ticket2u.com.my/empatkl. — BERNAMA

#SHOWBIZ: Four music icons, one family legacy

FOR the first time, four of Malaysia's most powerful musical voices — all connected by family ties — will perform together on one stage. The historic 'Empat Live In Kuala Lumpur 2025' concert promises to be a landmark event in local entertainment. "This is such an exciting project," shared singer Anuar Zain. "None of us ever thought that fate would bring the four of us — my elder sister Ziana, our niece Ernie, and her husband Syamel — together not only in the same industry but now performing side-by-side on the same stage," said the 55-year-old, who first rose to fame in the mid-1980s as half of the duo Anuar & Ellina. The concert is scheduled for Oct 18 at Mega Star Arena, Kuala Lumpur. It is set to be one of the most meaningful musical collaborations in Malaysia's music scene, distinguished by the heartfelt family connection shared by the four performers. Dream comes true Anuar explained that the idea for the concert had been in the works for two to three years, but they had to wait for the right moment due to everyone's busy schedules. "This will be more than just a concert. "It's a celebration of family ties, of the talent we are grateful for, and a token of appreciation for the incredible support we've received from fans of all generations. "We truly hope the audience will come with a spirit of love, unity, and appreciation for the musical journey we've shared," he said. His 33-year-old niece, Ernie Zakri, echoed his sentiments, describing the opportunity to share the stage with her musical heroes as both emotional and surreal. "I cried when I was asked to be a part of this," Ernie recounted. "To be on stage with them, two singers I've admired since I was a child and watched working so hard to achieve greatness, is beyond a dream come true. This is a long-time dream of mine, which is finally happening." A new single Organised by Anuar Zain Network, the concert will be helmed by director Jennifer Thompson and music director Sze Wan to ensure an unforgettable sonic experience. Adding to the excitement, the four artistes will release a brand-new single, specially composed by popular songwriter and producer Edry Abdul Halim. The single is expected next month as a lead-up to the big night. "I've worked with Edry before, most notably on the song 'Sedetik Lebih'. During our recent meeting, he presented us with two options. One of them immediately resonated with all four of us. The moment it was played, we just knew it had to be that one. We were all in agreement without needing to say much," said Annuar. Edry, who is currently based in Manchester, will handle the song's mixing from his personal studio there. "He's a brilliant musician who understands each of our vocal characters, which makes the entire process more efficient and natural," Anuar elaborated. Anuar hopes this family collaboration will become a legacy for the future, both for their family and the Malaysian music scene. "We want this to be more than a one-time show. We want it to become a legacy that celebrates music, family, and the connection we share with our fans." As both a performer and organiser, Anuar is committed to delivering a top-tier experience. "My top priority is the sound system," he said. 'You can have great vocals and stunning costumes, but if the sound system is poor just because someone wants to cut costs, it will haunt me for months. For me, a concert must have excellent sound. When our performances are uploaded on social media, I want people to clearly hear the richness of our vocals and musical arrangements. "Fans might not notice technical aspects like the sound system, but as the organiser, I carry that responsibility. People are paying good money to attend this show, and we want to ensure they leave feeling completely satisfied." With powerhouse performances, heartfelt storytelling, and the powerful thread of family running through it all, 'Empat Live In Kuala Lumpur 2025' is set to be a once-in-a-generation experience.

Craig David returns to Malaysia this November, his only Asian stop of TS5 tour

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 — UK R&B superstar Craig David will return to Malaysia this November for the first time in over a decade – and he's bringing his acclaimed TS5 live experience to Kuala Lumpur. The Craig David Presents TS5: Live in Kuala Lumpur show will take place on November 10 at Mega Star Arena, Sungei Wang Plaza. Organised by T-Rex Studio, it will be David's only Asian stop on his current world tour. His last performance in Malaysia was in 2014. The TS5 concept began in 2012 when David hosted pre-party sessions at his Miami penthouse, Tower Suite 5. Blending UK garage classics, R&B, bashment, old-school anthems and contemporary house, the DJ–vocal hybrid set has since attracted a global following, with over 1.5 million listeners tuning in worldwide. David has taken the TS5 show to stages in London, Glastonbury, New York and Ibiza, performing as singer, MC and DJ – all at once. This year also marks a milestone for the 43-year-old star, who released his latest album Commitment on August 8, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of his debut Born to Do It – the record that spawned hits like 7 Days, Fill Me In and Walking Away. His previous album, The Time Is Now (2018), featured collaborations with Bastille (I Know You) and included tracks such as Heartline. Tickets for the Kuala Lumpur show are priced between RM288 and RM1,888. More information is available at
