South Park's latest savage Trump takedown scores 6,200,000 viewers in days
The target of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's satire the second time around was largely Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, 53, as well as Vice President JD Vance, 41.
The episode, Got A Nut, featured Noem shooting dogs dead, when she's not imprisoning immigrants through the government's ICE programme.
It's now been confirmed that the episode out-performed the season opener in its first three days, averaging 6.2million global viewers across Paramount+ and Comedy Central.
The episode scored the highest South Park linear ratings since 2018, according to Variety.
It comes after the season's premiere episode caused an almighty stir over its depiction of President Donald Trump as a litigious sex pest who was in a relationship with Satan – this storyline also continued into the second episode – displaying cartoon depictions of his nude body several times.
Noem has now been given similarly scathing treatment on the show, as a bulletproof vest-clad animated version of her in seen pursuing Dora the Explorer, while the episode also riffs on the former South Dakota governor's 2024 admission that she once killed her own dog.
In her book (deep breath) No Going Back: The Truth on What's Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward, Noem detailed killing her wirehaired pointer Cricket one day during hunting season and used the account to show her willingness to do things that are 'difficult, messy and ugly' in politics.
South Park's animated Noem says in the episode: 'A few years ago I had to put my puppy down by shooting it in the face, because sometimes doing what's important means doing what's hard.'
Noem is also portrayed as heavily Botoxed, with her facial features often inadvertently drooping downwards. In one scene from the long-running no-holds-barred comedy, her face starts to crawl around the floors of Trump's Mar-a-Lago home. (Yes, really.)
When Metro contacted the US Homeland Security for comment regarding the episode, assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin told us in a statement: 'We want to thank South Park for drawing attention to ICE law enforcement recruitment.'
Noem is the eighth person to hold her position at Homeland Security and was previously South Dakota's first ever female governor.
On the Homeland Security website she is described as: 'A South Dakota native, Secretary Noem is a rancher, farmer, small business owner, and proud mother and grandmother.'
Dubbed 'ICE Barbie', she has defended US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials and has carried out Trump's hardline immigration agenda.
The 53-year-old was a strong contender to be named as Trump's running mate in last year's US election, before Vance took the spot.
This was around the time that Noem was sued by a consumer advocacy group for promoting a cosmetic dental company who she said had fixed her teeth, without disclosing she had a financial relationship with the company.
McLaughlin's statement then urged 'patriotic' watchers of the show to join ICE and help deport people from the country, listing a number of benefits.
Also featured is Vice President JD Vance as a small manbaby with a memified inflated face, towed along in cut-out Trump's wake as the President insults and belittles him.
At one point, Trump kicks small-sized Vance off screen, as if he were a football.
The new episode aired after the official Homeland Security X account posted a screenshot from the South Park teaser, using it as a recruitment advertisement with a link to join the law enforcement agency.
The official South Park X account responded to the post, asking: 'Wait, so we ARE relevant?' Their reply referenced the White House's response to the first episode of this season, in which they claimed the show was 'fourth-rate' and no longer had any cultural capital.
South Park fans would beg to differ, as many took to social media to hail the second episode as an instant classic.
@mmpadellan posted a series of fire emojis, declaring: 'These guys are NOT holding back.' More Trending
@harpforcongress added: 'I have been watching South Park since 1997. I have never seen them bury someone the way they buried Kristi Noem tonight. Trey and Matt are laser focused on the entire GOP. Buckle Up!'
'South Park truly never misses! Thank you Matt Stone & Trey Parker!!!' wrote @TheAliaLink.

Taylor Swift obliterates Trump and Joe Rogan's podcast ratings
The most anticipated sports podcast episode in history ended up giving the world's biggest pop star bragging rights over the President of the United States. Wednesday night saw a special release of the 'New Heights' podcast where co-host and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce brought on his pop superstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift . Teasers leading up to the episode revealed that Swift would be unveiling the cover and release date for her highly-anticipated 12th album, 'The Life of a Showgirl'. Swifties flocked in droves to listen to the episode live - breaking the record for the most-watched live-streamed podcast in YouTube's history at 1.3 million viewers. It shattered the previous mark - held by 'The Joe Rogan Experience' when the eponymous host brought on then-Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump . Not only that, but the New Heights YouTube channel saw a spike in subscriber numbers. The channel began at 2.85 million subs before the episode began. At the time of publishing, the subscriber count sits at 2.97 million. While it did break the live-viewership record, it still has some ways to go to catch up to the 24-hour viewer count that the Trump episode of Rogan had. In the first 24-hours of that episode, Rogan's channel had 26 million views. At the time of publishing, the YouTube video of the New Heights show has 9.5 million in the first 14 hours (with 6 million views coming in the first five hours). But breaking one record held by Trump is sure to be a feather in Swift's cap after she endorsed Democrat nominee and former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. Trump has gone on the offensive against Swift in the past, calling her 'no longer hot' after the endorsement of Harris and mocking her for being booed at Super Bowl LIX. Not only does this two-hour conversation mark a major moment for the show, it also is a perfect full-circle moment for Travis and Taylor. Travis previously mentioned in July 2023 how he'd like to have Swift on the show and how he tried giving her a friendship bracelet at a concert in Kansas City, but that he wasn't able to meet her. Cut to now. Travis and Taylor have been the definitive storyline in the NFL over the last two years, with the sport seeing a massive spike in female audience in that time. On the episode, Swift mentioned how important that July 2023 episode was to their eventual meeting. 'This kind of felt more like I was in an '80s John Hughes movie,' Swift said. 'He was just like standing outside of my window with a boom box just being like, "I want to date you. Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet. Do you want to date me?"' She continued, 'This is sort of what I've been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.' Kelce added, 'And I was sitting there at the Eras tour listening to every single one of those songs, like, I know what she wants me to do!' He continued, 'I'm the luckiest man in the world,' while Swift said her man is 'a vibe booster in everyone's life that he's in. He's like a human exclamation point.' Swift's album announcement was the biggest draw for the show - with the 'Cruel Summer' singer confirming the October 3 release for 'The Life of a Showgirl'. She added that there will not be any extra songs on the album - which is being produced by Swedish hitmaker Max Martin and his collaborator Shellback. The pair helped make some of Swift's biggest hits - including 'Style', 'Shake It Off' and 'Blank Space' of her multi-Grammy winning 2014 album '1989'. Unlike previous albums, Swift said there would not be any hidden tracks for 'Showgirl'. However, fans are sure to be entertained - with the tracklist released and revealing that fellow pop star Sabrina Carpenter will feature on the title track.

New Paramount boss says fun movies that appeal to middle America are his priority... including 'threequel' to iconic film
Paramount Studios' new boss says all upcoming movies will be apolitical films that appeal to Middle America - with Top Gun 3 being a top priority. David Ellison, 42, made the revelation at a press conference at the Paramount Pictures lot Wednesday where he and other execs provided his vision for the company. Ellison also announced plans to up to 20 films-a-year - up from the 11 to 14 Paramount previously cranked out. All of these releases will be theatrical, he said - emphasizing the importance of big screen productions over streaming films. Similarly, he refuses to use the studio's streaming platform, Paramount+, as a landing page for low-budget B films, he said. Instead, Ellison aired plans to return Paramount to its glitzy glory days, following a lengthy regulatory review and Donald Trump 's suit surrounding edits to a '60 Minutes' interview with Kamala Harris that some said was bias. To do so, Ellison said he plans to build on franchises already proven popular with the American public. He singled out properties like 'Star Trek' and 'Yellowstone' and a sequel to 2022's Top Gun: Maverick - calling the latter 'a massive priority for us,' he said. Most importantly, are plans to shed any prior political connotations that may be tied to the company, he said. Paramount settled with Trump last month for $16million. David Ellison, the new owner of Paramount Skydance, said he want to create films that appeal to Middle America and are not politicized during a press conference in Los Angeles Wednesday 'We're an entertainment company first, and I genuinely believe if you're breathing, you're our audience,' the 42-year-old tech scion said after months of being accused of bribery in regard to the Trump payout. 'I don't want to politicize this company.' 'We want to be in the business of speaking to everybody,' the son of MAGA supporting billion Larry Ellison continued. 'One of our biggest priorities is actually restoring Paramount as the No. 1 destination for the most talented artists and filmmakers in the world. 'Very simply, great filmmakers make great movies.' 'World War Z', 'Transformers', 'The Goonies,' 'Gremlins', and 'Night at the Museum' are also expected to be built on, he said - emphasizing that 'the movies that we make will be made for theatrical' and not TVs. One of the newly installed co-chairs of Paramount Pictures, Dana Goldberg added that alongside 'Top Gun,' moviegoers can expect a 'Star Trek' sequel very soon. Skydance, Ellison's old company, previously partnered with Paramount for the last two 'Star Trek' films. Ellison was an executive producer and is a 'big fan' of the franchise, Scotty actor Simon Pegg said at an event last week. Goldberg, a former Netflix exec, added how Ellison plans to use such properties to capture a wide audience. 'We are not going to be siloed off so that there's one conversation happening about television and another conversation happening about film,' she said. 'We're going to make sure these conversations are happening together so that we can do what's best for the brand as a whole.' The days-old company has already secure the U.S. streaming and television rights for the ever-popular UFC MMA promotion for $7.7 billion - almost the same sum it spent to acquire Paramount. Fights will air on Paramount+ and CBS exclusively for the next seven years, the company said - months after Ellison was spotted at a UFC event in Miami with Trump in April Within those seven years, Ellison said he plans to make Paramount a major presence in Hollywood once again, where Paramount's offices will be located rather than New York. In addition, Paramount has secured the rights to long-airing Comedy Central series South Park for $1.25 billion, with a separate deal with Trey Parker and Matt Stone that will last the next five years. Ellison also added how he plans to embrace technology - unlike some of his competitors - to help his vision become a reality. 'Legacy media kind of swam out to the middle of the lake, but wasn't exactly sure how to get to the other side,' he said 'Some people wanted to go back and burn the boats.' He said he intends to 'get to the other side of the lake.' Ellison also said CBS was one of Paramount's most 'underappreciated' assets.

Florida opening Deportation Depot at former prison to operate alongside Alligator Alcatraz
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is turning a shuttered state prison into another immigration detention center that can hold up to 1,300 people. While a federal judge considers whether to shut down another detention facility that Donald Trump's administration and Florida officials are calling Alligator Alcatraz in the Everglades, DeSantis on Thursday announced the state is moving forward with 'Deportation Depot.' 'This will be operational soon, it is not going to take forever, but we are also not rushing to do this right this day,' DeSantis said Thursday. The prison — located within a rural stretch of the state between Tallahassee and Jacksonville — will operate inside Baker Correctional Institution, joining a new wave of state-run detention centers working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement to boost the president's mass deportation agenda. 'The reason for this is not to just house people indefinitely. We want to process, stage and then return illegal aliens to their home country. That is the name of the game,' DeSantis said. The prison first opened in 1978 with a capacity for 1,165 inmates in a mix of security levels, including for inmates who are considered high security risks. It closed in 2021 follow staffing shortages in the state's correctional facilities. The governor's announcement follows a federal court order to stop any new construction at Alligator Alcatraz following a lawsuit from environmental groups warning that the facility endangers surrounding wetlands and wildlife. That 3,000-bed detention center opened in south Florida last month within the Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport, roughly 43 miles from Miami in the middle of the Everglades. A federal lawsuit accuses the facility of blocking detainees from legal counsel and forcing people into 'overcrowded, unsanitary, and harsh conditions' with inadequate food, flood-prone cells, and 'excessive use of force' from guards that sent at least one man to a hospital. It's also unclear who is actually running the facility and who wants to take responsibility for it. Government lawyers could not immediately answer in court whether the federal government or Florida is responsible. In court filings, immigration officials claimed that the facility is operating through the federal 287(g) program, which allows local and state law enforcement agencies to enforce federal immigration law. ICE has inked nearly 800 such agreements covering 40 states. That makeshift facility is expected to cost roughly $450 million within its first year, at roughly $245 per inmate bed per night, according to Homeland Security. ICE spent roughly $187 per adult detainee per day in 2023. The incoming wave of state-run detention centers is expected to tap into $45 billion in new funding for ICE as part of Trump's 'big, beautiful bill.' That bill also allocates $30 billion for an aggressive recruitment campaign to hire another 10,000 ICE agents. boon to for-profit contractors and cash-strapped states looking to tap into billions of taxpayer dollars. This is a developing story
