FC Barcelona Dream Still Chased By Premier League Ace Despite Williams
A Premier League star is still determined to fulfil his dream and play for FC Barcelona despite its increased interest in Nico Williams according to Mundo Deportivo, which cited anonymous sources. After Barca paid the former Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia's €25 million release clause, and announced his capture on Wednesday, Barca has moved on to trying to land the Euro 2024 winner Williams, who is also a close friend of Lamine Yamal. Doing so will require the triggering of another release clause, though this one is a lot more expensive at €58 million and won't be as straightforward for a club still recovering from a financial crisis that pushed it to the brink of oblivion earlier this decade to raise. In the meantime, while Nico has reportedly agreed to join Barca, Marcus Rashford is still pushing for transfer from Manchester United to Catalonia according to Mundo Deportivo. Before interest was sparked in Williams again, he was believed to be Barca's top target for the left wing alongside Luis Diaz. With Rashford rated at around €40 million, he would be the cheapest of these forwards while Diaz is the most expensive at something close to €85 million. Rashford and his corner don't believe that signing Williams will be an obstacle that puts the kibosh on the England international's Camp Nou dream. His input on the pitch isn't only limited to the left wing, as, unlike Williams, he can play all three positions across the front line while providing a good alternative to the aging Robert Lewandowski. The Pole is entering the last year of his contract signed when joining from Bayern Munich in the 'economic levers' summer of 2022, and Barca as of yet has no natural heir for him other than winger Ferran Torres or Dani Olmo playing as a false 9. The newspaper also writes that Rashford is willing to lower his salary demands, while United would want a reduced fee of €30 million. Even at a cut fee for Rashford, FC Barcelona might struggle to afford both him and Williams. Across those two potential deals, we're talking about more than $100 million in cash, which is still a push for Barca despite its improved financial health under President Joan Laporta.

Real Madrid dealt Club World Cup blow despite Kylian Mbappe leaving hospital
After spending Wednesday night in hospital, Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe has been discharged in Miami, but the French forward is far from back to full fitness yet. The 26-year-old missed out on Xabi Alonso's debut as Real Madrid manager against Al-Hilal, but seems unlikely to be back for their next game either. After missing training on Tuesday, Mbappe also could not make it back on Wednesday evening for their 1-1 draw with the Saudi Arabian giants. The following day, Real Madrid confirmed that Mbappe was in hospital undergoing tests for a case of 'accute gastroentiritis'. Now he is out of hospital, as confirmed by the club. Mbappe all but out of Pachuca clash However the latest update on his fitness is not altogether promising for Real Madrid. El Chiringuito report that Mbappe is ruled out of their game with Pachuca on Sunday at 21:00 CEST, in their second group game. They say that it could be another 10 days before Mbappe returns to full fitness. This does not mean to say that he could not return to action before that, but it does alter Alonso's plans. Their final group game comes against RB Salzburg on Friday the 27th of June at 03:00am, but depending on where they finish in their group, Mbappe would only just be returning to fitness for their Round of 16 clash, which will take place on Tuesday the first of July, at the very end of those 10 days. Image via Visionhaus Alternatives for Xabi Alonso There is not a great deal of alternatives at Alonso's disposal either. Endrick Felipe has been left in Madrid as he recovers from a muscle tear, and in the opening game, he used Gonzalo Garcia Torres up front. That move came off, with Garcia grabbing the opening goal, but Rodrygo Goes or Jude Bellingham as false nines are the only other realistic alternatives.

Bills' Josh Allen Reveals Humbling Take on MVP Meaning
Bills' Josh Allen Reveals Humbling Take on MVP Meaning originally appeared on Athlon Sports. For most quarterbacks, winning an MVP award can be the highlight of their career. It's an honor not to be taken lightly. Advertisement Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has a different idea on how to treat his reigning MVP award status. In an exclusive Sports Illustrated interview, Allen talked about the honor of winning the award … but how it meant little compared to his overall legacy and goals. "I still didn't win a Super Bowl. Didn't win a ring, and that is the only goal. It's the only focus that I've ever had going into this league," said Allen. "The one positive, I will say, about winning an MVP means that your team is in a good position. "You're making the playoffs, you're playing well, and you're doing whatever you can to help your team win football games." Advertisement Allen's response to his MVP trophy is pretty humble stuff. He's become one of the best quarterbacks in the sport, but he knows his legacy will be tied directly to whether he can get the Bills to the promised land. In order to do that, Allen will likely need to find a way to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite having regular-season success against their bitter rivals, Allen and the Bills have yet to defeat the Chiefs in the playoffs. Making matters worse, Kansas City has won three Super Bowls during that span. Allen's MVP season was impressive. Despite the added popularity the award can bring, the Bills' franchise signal-caller is expecting more from himself in 2025 - and more from his team.
