Valtteri Bottas is talking to teams about a return to the F1 grid in 2026, the 10-time grand prix winner has told TopGear.com.
The Finn's unbroken 12-year stint in the sport came to an end in 2024 after Sauber dropped both him and teammate Zhou Guanyu following a forgettable year in which the team built the slowest car on the grid and finished stone dead last.

Bottas immediately took up the reserve driver gig at old team Mercedes for 2025, but he insists he's fully focused on making a comeback in F1 rather than joining another series.
'My aim is to be racing again,' said Bottas. 'So that means I've got to be aware of what is happening [in the driver market]. Of course I'm here [in Miami] focused on my job, but at the same time… gotta keep my ears and eyes open." You might like
Among the available seats for next season are two brand new ones at the incoming Cadillac F1 team, which was 'launched' (if you can call it that) at a glitzy party in downtown Miami on Saturday night.
Reports have linked ex-Red Bull driver Sergio Perez to one of those seats, but it's not known if the fledgling team wants two veteran drivers or a mix of youth and experience.

The US team, which will use Ferrari engines until 2029, is unlikely to find itself at the front of the field as its operation ramps up amid the biggest F1 rulebook overhaul in more than a decade. Does the idea of many, many blue flags put Bottas off?
'Cadillac is a new team joining the sport, which is exciting,' he said. 'What would be motivating for me is to get into a project, you know? Commit to X amount of years with clear targets. That's what I need at this point.
'I don't see the point of just doing one season just to be in Formula One. But what I feel like I need is a clear project. And I think it's a good example with a new team, that would be quite refreshing, when you can really start from scratch.
'But at the same time, if a place opens up in a car that you can fight for good points or even podiums or wins, then of course I would be happy to. But it's quite tricky at the moment to see how things are unfolding.'

As well as his 10 wins with Mercedes, the 35-year-old finished on the podium 67 times and scored 20 pole positions, and as Lewis Hamilton's wingman the Silver Arrows won the constructors' title in all five seasons he was there.
Is there a part of him that's happy to call it a day? 'I'm not content,' he said. 'I still feel like I definitely have a few years in me, and more to give to the sport. That's my feeling. But again, it's a sport that is hard to predict how things are going to unfold and if you're gonna get another chance or not.'
In the meantime, Bottas has a small but punchy car collection to keep him occupied in Monaco. In the garage at the moment are a Mercedes GLS 450 (company car, duh), Alfa Giulia GTAm, Ferrari F8 Tributo and a Mercedes-AMG One.
And the 'new baby' – an Alfa 33 Stradale, which he helped develop with a day of testing on track – is due to arrive in a few weeks.
What feedback did he give it? 'It was mainly about the drivability of the engine and then the balance of the car on the racetrack,' he said. 'I think it was the very first day on track with the car. So it was quite interesting for me to get a feeling with the car and if there's any adjustments needed.'
Bottas says he went 'pretty traditional' with a red finish and 'a bit of carbon in there as well', but he isn't looking for any more wheels at this stage. No room for a Cadillac then?
'I do like an Escalade,' he says. 'And the Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters .' Someone's been doing their homework…

June 12 - Former UCLA standout and longtime NBA player David Greenwood has died. He was 68. According to UCLA, Greenwood died Sunday in Riverside, Calif., after a battle with cancer. Greenwood was the No. 2 overall pick of the 1979 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. The Los Angeles Lakers won the coin toss for No. 1 pick and picked legendary Magic Johnson. Greenwood was a four-year starter for the Bruins and averaged 14.8 points and 8.7 rebounds in 118 games at UCLA. He was one of the final recruits of legendary coach John Wooden but the "Wizard of Westwood" retired months before Greenwood stepped on campus in the fall of 1975. Greenwood was a two-time conference player of the year and a two-time first-team All-American, stemming his strong junior and senior campaigns. He averaged 17.5 and 11.4 rebounds as a junior in 1977-78 and followed up with averages of 19.9 points and 10.3 rebounds. He still ranks fourth on the school's all-time rebounding list with 1,022. According to the school, Greenwood ranks third in program history with 52 games of 10 or more rebounds, topped only by legends Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) with 78 and Bill Walton with 75. Greenwood's 49 double-doubles also stand third. Greenwood was inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021, and the Pac-12 Hall of Honor in 2017. In the NBA, Greenwood averaged 10.2 points and 7.9 rebounds in 823 games (582 starts) and was a member of the Detroit Pistons' NBA title team in 1990. "We are saddened to learn of the passing of former Piston, David Greenwood, a member of the 1990 NBA Championship team," the Pistons said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones at this time." He played with four teams, including six seasons with the Bulls (1979-85). He averaged a career-high 16.3 points as a rookie and averaged more than nine rebounds as a game on five occasions in his NBA career. Zach Eflin shuts down Tigers as O's claim late blowout
June 12 - Ramon Urias smacked a two-run home run early and starting pitcher Zach Eflin worked into the seventh inning as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the visiting Detroit Tigers 10-1 on Wednesday night. Jordan Westburg homered in a seven-run eighth inning to join Adley Rutschman, Jackson Holliday, Gunnar Henderson and Urias with two hits apiece for the Orioles, who had lost three of their previous four games. Eflin (6-2), who has won three consecutive starts, limited the MLB-leading Tigers over 6 2/3 innings. He allowed one run on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk. The teams meet in the rubber game of their three-game series Thursday night. Tigers starter Casey Mize (6-2) lasted 5 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on eight hits. He walked two and struck out seven. Eflin held a no-hitter until two outs in the fourth inning, yielding only a walk to Zach McKinstry to that point. Riley Greene's single was the first hit off Eflin. Keegan Akin, Bryan Baker and Gregory Soto completed the combined five-hitter. Boston Red Sox spark controversy after putting on pre-game drag show for Pride Day
Fenway Park's annual Pride Night has been heavily criticized online in the days since a group of drag queens were welcomed on the field in Boston before the Red Sox hosted the Tampa Bay Rays. 'Gross' and 'disgusting' were just two of the judgements posted on X, where many others joined in the attack. 'Be more like the @ Rangers,' another added, referring to the only Major League Baseball team without a Pride Month celebration. Several commenters questioned the logic behind MLB events aimed at including LBGTQ+ fans, arguing they're not really baseball's target audience. However, a 2021 survey by the Sociology of Sport Journal found that 30 percent of gay men and 40 percent of lesbians were passionate sports fans, while many others followed sports casually. Regardless, Pride Day still ignited a torrent of criticism directed at the Red Sox, who lost to the Rays, 10-8, as top prospect Roman Anthony made his debut. 'Disgusting and degenerate,' wrote one self-described former fan. 'There is a reason I refuse to watch ya'll anymore. I've been a fan for 30+ years. Focus on the game instead of degeneracy and politics, idiots.' Per Getty Images, the Red Sox have been welcoming drag queens to Fenway for Pride Day for at least the last four seasons, but that didn't stop one fan from declaring that the 2025 ceremony was her breaking point. 'Unfollowing you and no longer watching your games,' the woman wrote. 'You just lost a 20+ year fan.' Joining in the on-field ceremony were representatives from the the Boston Legacy Football Club of the NWSL, the Boston Fleet of the PWHL, Boston Common Golf, the NHL's Boston Bruins, and NBA's Boston Celtics. Fans attending Monday's game were given a Red Sox Pride hat with rainbow coloring — an item some fans found appealing. 'Love it!' wrote the X users. 'Hey at RedSox, where can I get one of those hats? They are stunning!'
