Max Verstappen Admits He Cheated to Win a Race in School and Fans Can't Believe It

Max Verstappen may be one of the most dominant drivers in Formula 1 history, but apparently, his competitive streak started long before he ever stepped into a race car. In a recent video exchange with fans, Verstappen stunned viewers with a cheeky confession about how he won a running race back in school. After a young fan proudly told him, 'I won a medal for running really fast. Have you won a medal?', the Red Bull Racing star didn't hold back. Advertisement 'I actually did win a medal back in the day when I was running very fast,' Verstappen said with a grin. 'Yeah, at school… but I did cheat a little bit.' Teammate Sergio Perez, sitting beside him, laughed and assumed the usual explanation: 'Ah, right, you jumped the start.' But Verstappen corrected him. 'No, I pushed the guy into the bush.' Max Verstappen talks to the media after 2025 Miami GP Sprint Casey-Imagn Images When Perez questioned: 'And they still gave you the medal?' The story only got funnier as Verstappen added, 'It was around the corner and they couldn't really see it.' Perez cracked up, clearly amused by the young Verstappen's stealthy tactics — and the fact that he still got the medal. Advertisement The light-hearted moment instantly resonated with fans online, sparking a wave of reactions. One fan joked, 'I mean a win is a win.' Another chimed in: 'Once a cheat…' 'Good to know he doesn't hide his OCD,' added a third, referencing Max's famously detail-driven personality. The Dutchman's candid admission is just another example of how his blunt honesty and mischievous sense of humor keep him one of the most entertaining drivers off the track as well as on it. Sacked Red Bull star apologised to wife after 'bad party' at Monaco GP

Former Red Bull driver Sergio Perez was forced to apologise to his wife soon after his win at the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, as videos of him partying were shared on social media Sergio Perez previously apologised for the manner of his celebrations after winning the Monaco Grand Prix in 2022. The 35-year-old driver is currently without a team after being axed by Red Bull at the end of last season, ending his continuous 14-year spell on the Formula One grid. Perez has claimed six wins during his F1 career, including at the Monaco GP in May 2022. However, following his success in Monte Carlo, the Mexican star apologised to his wife Carola Martinez after videos of him dancing with other women at a party emerged online. ‌ "I have seen the videos that have been circulating about me and I take responsibility for it," Perez wrote in a public apology on Instagram."It was a bad party that I didn't know how to control at the height of the person that I am, but it was just that, a very bad party. ‌ "People close to me know my values and the type of person that I am. For those who ask me, we are more united than ever, me and my wife. "And for those who just want to hurt us, I wish you the best. Thank you all for your love, and I apologise to all the people who love me because those videos don't represent me, not at all. We will not talk about this topic anymore, which only makes us forget the great moment we are living as a family. Thank you." Perez's victory at the Monaco GP soon saw him rewarded with a new Red Bull contract. He finished third overall in the 2022 season and improved to runner-up behind team-mate Max Verstappen the following year. A poor end to last season saw Red Bull part ways with Perez in December, despite having renewed his contract until 2026 months earlier. He vowed to take several months to assess his options, meaning an absence from F1 was likely, but Perez reportedly has multiple teams to consider ahead of next year. ‌ It was initially reported that Perez was a leading option for Cadillac as the F1 grid expands to 11 teams in 2026. Perez is said to be in discussions over a possible three-year contract. When asked if Perez was under consideration, Cadillac advisor Mario Andretti told ESPN: 'It's an option. It could be an option. Of course.' ‌ Cadillac are reported to be targeting an experienced driver to lead their new team. With 281 starts on the F1 grid, Perez fits the criteria, but Cadillac could face a battle for his signature. It has been rumoured that Perez's team approached Alpine earlier this month. This season, the team demoted Jack Doohan after six rounds, with Franco Colapinto taking his place as Alpine's second driver alongside Pierre Gasly. Alpine's executive advisor Flavio Briatore explained the decision and admitted that the team were focusing on the future. 'At the moment you need to put the team together, from the commercial side, the technical side, the management side,' Briatore said. 'The driver makes no difference now. The difference will be in 2026, 2027, 2028. This should be the difference for the driver.'

Tennessee Department of Correction's partnership with ICE is pending

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Tennessee Department of Correction is working to lock in a partnership with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. TDOC is listed as a pending partner in ICE's 287(g) program. It would let correctional employees interrogate inmates about their immigration status and start the process to have them deported. The department oversees 14 prisons, housing about 20,000 inmates, as well as 46 probation and parole offices, supervising roughly 75,000 offenders across the state. 'These folks are already busy enough,' the executive director of the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law, Sergio Perez, said. 'This means putting more on their plate.' Metro Nashville leaders respond to the Department of Homeland Security's arrest announcement If approved, TDOC would be part of the jail enforcement program that allows correctional employees to question inmates about their immigration status and file paperwork to hold inmates for ICE. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office already has a similar agreement. Meanwhile, deputies in Giles and Sumner County can serve warrants. 'The communities who participate in 287(g) agreements end up shifting scant public safety resources, refocusing them on immigration efforts, and members of the community across the board suffer,' Perez explained. Macon and Bradley counties are also seeking to join the ICE program. 'The situation continues to escalate, and Tennessee really seems to be frankly at the forefront nationally,' an organizer with the Party for Socialism and Liberation, Nicholas Goodell, said. TN congressman says he will request investigation into Nashville mayor over alleged 'repeated obstruction of ICE operations' TDOC was not available for an interview but said, 'TDOC will continue to partner with state and federal agencies to support ICE operations as needed to uphold the law and increase public safety.' Sumner County Mayor John Isbell expressed his approval for the Sumner County Sheriff's Office partnering with ICE in a statement, saying, in part, 'Public safety is our highest priority, and this partnership between our Sheriff's Office and federal authorities enhances our ability to protect our communities. The 287(g) Warrant Service Officer program provides our law enforcement with additional tools to ensure that individuals who have violated both our immigration laws and local criminal laws are properly identified and processed.' The program only applies to people already in custody. It does not authorize deputies to carry out immigration enforcement in the community. 'You have larger allegations or more common allegations of the misuse of authority, excessive use of force, and other kinds of alleged misconduct that often leads to very expensive payouts down the line,' Perez argued. ⏩ A group that is organizing a protest against ICE on Saturday, May 17 told News 2 that this partnership not only breaks trust between community members and law enforcement, but it tears families apart. 'I think they're overconfident that this can be the place where they can bring Trump's vision of a right-wing, low-wage, immigrant-free utopia to bear,' Goodell expressed. 'When you deputize local law enforcement, you're injuring that community identity, those values that we all care about,' Perez concluded. News 2 reached out to the involved counties.
