Varanasi: A gang operating in Ghazipur, duping individuals from Rajasthan in the name of marriage, was busted when the targets grew suspicious and drove two women to Mirzamurad police station, on Saturday evening.
Mirzamurad police station officer Pramod Pandey said on Sunday that, on the complaint of Bhanu Jaga, a resident of Rajgarh in Alwar district of Rajasthan, an FIR was lodged. Apart from the woman who posed as the bride, Puja, one of her accomplices, Kiran, was also arrested. Their other two accomplices, Nisha and Nandlal, managed to escape.
According to police, Bhanu Jaga's family had been on the lookout for a bride for his brother Girish.
Nandlal, a resident of Yusufpur, Jamnia (Ghazipur), came in contact with them on phone and offered to arrange the marriage for a consideration of Rs 1,80,000 and asked them to come to Ghazipur. Jaga's family arrived and handed over the money, after which one accused woman was introduced to them Puja and her wedding was solemnised with Girish at a hotel.
After the wedding, Jaga and his family, departed for Rajasthan in an SUV, along with the bride Puja and her woman associate introduced to them as Kiran.

As the vehicle was moving on Ring Road and passing through Rakhouna area of Mirzamurad, Puja feigned stomach ache and asked to stop the vehicle. Jaga and his brother got suspicious and told the driver to take the vehicle to the nearest police outpost. At the police station, Puja created a scene and claimed she was being abducted.
When Jaga and his brother showed Mirzamurad police personnel a video of the rituals performed, it came to light that the two women belonged to a gang that duped bride-seekers from Rajasthan and other states.
On being questioned by police, it was revealed that Puja's actual name was Rekha and she was mother of four children. Puja, Kiran and Nisha hail from Durgawati in Bihar.
After the farewell of bride and groom, Nandlal and Nisha had boarded another vehicle to follow Jaga's SUV to ensure that when Puja and Kiran got off the vehicle, they would flee with the duo. But, as Jaga asked the driver to take another route to reach the police outpost, Nandlal failed to trace them.

Elvish Yadav's father reacts to Gurugram firing incident, ‘definitely a threat…'

Elvish Yadav, who recently gained popularity through Laughter Chefs Season 2, is back in the news after his house in Gurugram's Sector 57 was reportedly attacked early Sunday morning. 'So far, we haven't received any kind of threat or phone call. I spoke to Elvish, and he said he is fine,' Elvish's father told reporters, as reported by the Times of India. Elvish's dad also said, 'There was definitely a threat to life, if we had been outside, anything could have happened.' Yadav was not at home when the shooting happened around 5.30 am. However, some family members were inside but no one was injured in the incident, they said. Meanwhile, 'Bhau gang' claimed responsibility for the firing. After getting information, a police team reached the spot and collected forensic evidence, and are scanning CCTV footage from the area. The attackers shot more than two dozen rounds at the YouTuber's home in Sector 57 and fled from the spot. The bullets struck the ground and first floors of the house, the police said. In a post on social media, gangsters Neeraj Faridpur and Bhau Ritoliya, members of 'Bhau gang', claimed responsibility for the attack. "...the bullets that were fired at Elvish Yadav's house today were fired by us. He has ruined many houses by promoting betting apps. Other social media influencers promoting betting may face bullets or calls,' read the post shared by Ritoliya. Elvish Yadav has frequently found himself at the center of controversy. He faced legal trouble alongside singer Fazilpuriya for featuring snakes in the music video of the song 32 Bore. Yadav is also involved in an ongoing case where he is accused of supplying snake venom at a rave party in Noida. However, the Supreme Court has granted a stay on the trial court proceedings. In 2024, YouTuber Maxtern (Sagar Thakur) filed a complaint against Yadav after a video emerged showing Yadav allegedly assaulting him. Thakur later withdrew the complaint. That same year, Yadav was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in a money-laundering investigation related to the snake venom case. (This is a developing story)
