Selangor royals mourn passing of PWIP patron Puan Sri Zainun Yaacob
KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin Abdul Rahman, grieve the passing of Puan Sri Zainun Yaacob, wife of Glomac Group founder Tan Sri Mohamed Mansor Fateh Din.
In a Facebook post on the Selangor Royal Office's page, Their Royal Highnesses extended their condolences to Zainun's family.
Zainun, patron of Persatuan Wanita Islam Prihatin (PWIP), was a close friend of Her Majesty.
The post read:
"Her Majesty was deeply shocked and saddened by this sorrowful news. The Royal Highnesses have conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased and pray that her soul rests among the righteous."

MCMC to track vape sales online, work with MOH and KPDN
PUTRAJAYA: The Communications Ministry, through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), will monitor online sales of vape and e-cigarette products following increased bans on vape use in several states and concerns over the presence of synthetic substances in these products. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the issue was raised during today's Cabinet meeting and is being reviewed by the Health Ministry (MoH). 'At the same time, I will direct MCMC to examine the online sale of such products. We have found that these sales are largely conducted on platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. 'Any enforcement action will certainly involve the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN),' he told a weekly press conference here today. Fahmi said while vape-related issues fall under the Health Ministry's jurisdiction, the Communications Ministry will monitor the use of social media as a sales platform, particularly for e-cigarette products. 'Insya-Allah, MCMC will prepare a report on this matter, and the Communications Ministry will present it to the Cabinet for further discussion,' he said. He also reaffirmed the Communications Ministry's commitment to working closely with MoH and KPDN to ensure a safer internet environment, particularly for children and families, by addressing issues such as vape and e-cigarette advertisements.

MCMC to intensify monitoring of online sales of vapes, electronic cigarettes
PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has been directed to intensify monitoring on the sale of electronic cigarettes, including vaping products, social media and online messaging platforms. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the ministry has observed that many such transactions occur on platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. "I have directed MCMC to investigate the online sale of these products. Enforcement efforts will involve Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry," he said during his weekly press conference today. Asked if the government plans to amend the legislation on electronic cigarettes, Fahmi said the issue will be reviewed by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad. "The matter was discussed during today's cabinet meeting and the health minister will look into it," he added. On April 17, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said state governments have the authority to ban the sale of vapes or electronic cigarettes, which were increasingly linked to the misuse of new synthetic drugs. He said the situation was becoming an increasing concern because students as young as 13 have been found using drug-laced vapes. Perlis, Terengganu and Kedah have announced bans on the sale of vapes and electronic cigarettes, set to take effect this year.
