AMMAN — Under the patronage of HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal, Chairman of the Arab Thought Forum, the Jordan Academy of Arabic on Wednesday marked the World Arabic Language Day at its headquarters.
Celebrated annually on December 18, the occasion highlights the enduring significance of the Arabic language, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalaileh and other dignitaries.
In his address, Academy President Mohammad Bakhit stressed the importance of preserving proper Arabic usage.
He said that the advancement of the Arabic language begins with scholars in diverse fields, who, through their discoveries, generate new linguistic terms.
Bakhit expressed hope that localising sciences and knowledge in Arabic would foster progress and contribute to a cultural renaissance across Arab nations.
Bakhit also stressed the collective responsibility of educators, researchers, scientists, academics and officials in protecting the Arabic language for future generations.
The event featured a scientific seminar exploring the cultural and academic significance of the Arabic language.
Among the participants were Secretary-General of the Arab Thought Forum Sadiq Faqih and Professor Emeritus of English at the University of Jordan Mohammad Shaheen.
In his presentation, titled "The Influence of Arabic on Global Culture and Civilization", Faqih discussed the profound impact of Arabic on the global society, highlighting how the language has shaped customs, traditions, legal systems, artistic expressions, and academic discourse worldwide.

1691 Attacks Carried Out by the Occupation Against Palestinians During Last May - Jordan News
The head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission in the Palestinian Authority, Minister Muayyad Shabban, stated that Israeli occupation forces and extremist settlers carried out a total of 1,691 attacks against Palestinian citizens, their lands, properties, and holy sites during the past month of May. The majority of these attacks were concentrated in the governorates of Ramallah with 283 attacks, Hebron with 271, and Nablus with 265. Shabban pointed out that the attacks varied between armed assaults on Palestinian villages, imposing facts on the ground, field executions, land destruction and leveling, uprooting trees, seizing properties, violating holy sites, and closures and checkpoints disrupting the geographic continuity of Palestine. — (Petra)

Amman Chamber of Industry exports continued their upward momentum in 2025, reflecting the resilience of Jordanian industry in overcoming challenges and expanding its presence in export markets. اضافة اعلان During the first five months of 2025, the Chamber's exports grew by 12.2% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching JD 2.849 billion, up from JD 2.540 billion. Sector Performance Most industrial sectors experienced export growth during this period, with the exception of: Wood, furniture: ↓ 14% Packaging, paper, office supplies: ↓ 9.2% On the other hand, exports of eight other sub-sectors increased, led by: Construction materials: ↑ 86.7% (highest) Engineering, electrical, IT: ↑ 0.5% (lowest) Top Export Destinations India, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq accounted for over JD 1.635 billion, more than half of the total exports. Jordan Armed Forces Open Recruitment for High School Graduates The General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army / Directorate of Personnel Affairs / Military Recruitment Center has announced the opening of recruitment for a number of male applicants holding a passing General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi) in the Scientific or Literary streams, for the position of Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC), under specific conditions. اضافة اعلان Application Process: Interested individuals must apply online through the official website of the Directorate of Personnel Affairs / Military Recruitment Center: The application portal will be activated free of charge starting at 6:00 PM on Sunday, June 1, 2025, and will remain open until the evening of Sunday, June 15, 2025. Applicants who meet the requirements will be contacted via SMS, either through the website or to the phone number they provided in their application. Eligibility Criteria: Nationality: Must be Jordanian. Age: Must be at least 18 years old, born no earlier than January 1, 1995.
