
Career guidance workshop held in Tirunelveli
Voice of Tenkasi Foundation and Iyanthiran Edge Private Limited jointly organised a career guidance programme for Plus Two students here on Sunday.
The event, powered by Zoho Corporation, attracted nearly 1,000 students and their parents, who met representatives from over 20 colleges. Over 15 career guidance booths were set up to enlighten the students.
Experts from engineering, software development, medicine, business, government services, and emerging fields addressed the students.
Founder of Voice of Tenkasi Foundation Ananthan Ayyasamy, in his keynote address, emphasised the need for awareness of avenues available for students after Plus Two and a thirst for higher education, especially for rural students.
Speakers including Mohammed Ajhas, co-founder and CEO, Mandlac Technologies (engineering), Mejella, Soft Skill Trainer, Zoho (software and IT courses), Shandeep, student of medicine of Madurai Medical College (medicine), R. Thiru Murugan, Kalasalingam University (business and commerce), Prabhu Shankar Nanjappan, Manidhanaeyam IAS Academy (civil services and government exams), Karunya Gunavathy, CEO, Iyanthiran Edge Private Limited (unexplored career paths and emerging fields) and P. Lakshmana Kumar, vice-principal, S. Veerasamy Chettiar Group of Institutions (scholarships and financial assistances) addressed the students.
A special question and answer session moderated by Bismi, founder of Jamila School, enlightened the students and gave the opportunity to clarify their doubts. The event concluded with a networking session that allowed students to interact with college representatives and career mentors.

Apprentice recruitment under PMNAMS in Dharmapuri
Prime Minister's National Apprentice Mela (PMNAM), an apprentice recruitment camp, is scheduled to be organised at the Government ITI in Kadagathur on June 9. The programme as part of the Skill India Mission is conducted every second Monday of the month. According to the administration, companies are expected to participate and recruit apprentices under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961 from a pool of ITI diploma holders, SSLC, Plus Two pass outs, and graduates from BA, BE, among others. Those with SSLC and Plus Two qualification, upon recruitment may directly join as presser apprentice and secure an NAC at the end of training period. Under the programme, graduates upon completing one year of apprenticeship under the optional subjects will be given the NSDC/ SSC that will entitle them to preference in government employment along with a concession of one year in the age slab in government jobs. The recruited apprentices will be given a stipend of ₹8,500 to ₹18,000. Eligible candidates with the aforementioned qualifications are invited to participate in the camp with the original educational qualification documents, at the Government ITI in Kadagathur. Rohini Nilekani of Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies topped the list in the Philanthropists category with total donations of Rs 154 crore. At 28, Devanshi Kejriwal, Co-founder and CPO of Skillmatics, is the youngest in the list. She topped the list under the Young Women Leaders category.

The CEO is based out of Santa Clara, California, from where she runs the cloud networking company, which designs and sells multiple software products. 3. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw & Family: The founder of Bengaluru-based biotechnology and biopharmaceutical giant Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw ranked third in the Candere Hurun India Women Leaders List 2025, and her wealth is estimated to be around ₹ 32,000 crore. The 71-year-old industry veteran is based out of Bengaluru and has played a key role in developing India's healthcare industry with the help of her company, Biocon. 4. Falguni Nayar & Family: Online beauty brand Nykaa's (FSN E-Commerce Ventures) founder and CEO, Falguni Nayar, successfully ranked fourth on the Hurun India list with her wealth estimated to be at ₹ 29,000 crore. The 61-year-old CEO is based in Mumbai and has played a major role in developing India's online beauty segment by founding Nykaa with her own money. As of 4 June 2025, the company is listed on the Indian stock market with a market capitalisation (M-Cap) of ₹ 55,721.18 crore. 5. Neha Narkhede & Family: Palo Alto-based Neha Narkhede is the co-founder of the software and service firm Confluent.
