Documentary on the '90s Cowboys will shine brighter light on 30 years of failure
Technically, the upcoming Netflix series focuses on the glory (hole) days that have long passed Jerry Jones by.
Personally, I can't wait to watch the eight-part documentary. But after watching the trailer, it's obvious that it focuses on the team that won three Super Bowls between 1992 and 1995.
Which only shines a brighter light on the chronic failures of America's Team in the 30 years since the last title.
Really, how can Cowboys fans not watch the documentary without getting pissed that Jones has been unable to recapture the magic in three full decades? For the first 30 Super Bowls, the Cowboys played in the game to get there SIXTEEN times. In the 29 Super Bowls since then: Zero.
It's an inescapable comparison. It's a bald guy showing off a picture of what he looked like 30 years ago, when he had hair. The photo looks great, but the current reality tells a much different story.
The Cowboys hope that, for at least a little while, a trip down memory lane will be the bright, shiny object that makes the fans forget that it may be damn near impossible to make America's Team great again.

Here's what Joe Milton being named starter says about Cowboys WR position
Joe Milton getting the start in the Cowboys' third and final preseason game was certainly…a decision. After underwhelming in nearly every capacity in the first two games, many felt it was time to see more Will Grier or maybe even the starter, Dak Prescott. Yet, Dallas triple-downed with their hyper talented and dangerously undeveloped prospect, leaving many confused. There's no question Milton needs reps. From practice reps to game reps, Milton needs it all. The 25-year-old from Tennessee has unteachable arm talent and high-end athleticism. The start on Friday is good for Milton but unfortunately the same can't be said for the rest of the players forced to play around him. In previous contests, Milton repeatedly missed open targets, delivered late passes and generally stunted the offense. It wasn't just frustrating from a team perspective but also from an evaluation perspective. It was exceedingly difficult to evaluate receivers because passes just weren't getting to them. The Cowboys appear to have a competitive battle underway at the WR position this summer. CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and KaVontae Turpin are locked into roles but players like Jalen Tolbert, Jonathan Mingo, Ryan Flournoy, Jalen Cropper, Jalen Brooks and Traeshon Holden are all jockeying for position. With only two or three additional roster spots up for grabs, good players are going to miss the cut. And evaluating these WRs is next to impossible with the way Milton has been playing in the preseason. The only reasonable conclusion to arrive at is the Cowboys' coaching staff and front office already feels they know what they need to know at the WR position. Unlike fans and media, they've had full access to every single practice rep and exercise through training camp. They know how they want to build their roster, they know who will help on special teams and who needs development on the practice squad. They don't need the rest of the world seeing in a preseason game. The decision to start Milton in the third preseason game is likely strategic in more than one way. Raheem Morris says Falcons rookie DB 'has been awesome'
Fourth-round pick Billy Bowman has impressed Atlanta's coaching staff thus far. The Atlanta Falcons have ruled out two members of their five-player draft class for Friday's preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys, but fans can still get a glimpse of the team's two rookie defensive backs. Third-round pick Xavier Watts and fourth-rounder Billy Bowman have made a strong impression in training camp. Bowman has received first-team reps at the nickel spot and figures to play a key role on defense this season. Falcons head coach Raheem Morris is pleased with what he has seen from the rookie, praising Bowman during Wednesday morning's press conference. "Billy Bowman has been awesome," said Morris. "He's definitely shown that he can play a role for us. He's going to give us significant minutes." Bowman was considered a solid value pick for Atlanta in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft. The former Sooners standout recorded eight interceptions over his final two college seasons. In 2023, Bowman returned three interceptions for touchdown. Pro Football Focus praised the rookie's ball-hawking ability in his 2025 draft profile: "Bowman is one of the best ball-hawks in this class thanks to his elite combination of range, ball skills and instincts," wrote PFF. "On the other hand, he's missed over a quarter of his career tackle attempts due to a lack of length and his slight frame." While Bowman and Watts are slated to play this weekend, first-round picks Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr. have been ruled out for Friday's game against the Cowboys. The Falcons are taking a cautious approach with their two edge rushers. Walker is recovering from a groin injury he suffered during joint practices with the Tennessee Titans. Pearce is healthy, but Morris said he's happy with how the rookie has played and won't risk an injury in Friday's finale. I'm really pleased with what I've seen from him," Morris said of Pearce. In other injury news, Falcons right tackle Kaleb McGary had to be carted off during Wednesday's practice. The veteran offensive lineman suffered an apparent leg injury and is set to have an MRI this afternoon. Friday's game against the Cowboys kicks off at 8 p.m. ET inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
