Sophie Cunningham makes surprising admission saying she'd risk WNBA schedule just to hang with Summer House crew
The Indiana Fever guard, Sophie Cunningham, recently revealed that her Bravo obsession is so intense that she's willing to bend the rules, at least jokingly, for a chance to party with the Summer House crew.
While promoting her new podcast Show Me Something with Summer House star West Wilson, Cunningham opened up about her Bravo fandom and the temptation to join the summer party circuit despite WNBA commitments.

Sophie Cunningham openly admitted that she would go to the extent of 'faking illness' for her WNBA game to have a gateway with the Summer House cast. The Indiana Fever front office should take note that if Cunningham called in sick, she could be perfectly alright, just having the moment of her life.
In a PEOPLE exclusive, the Fever star candidly joked about ditching a WNBA game while expressing her love for Summer House.
'I haven't been [to the house] because it's during our season,' she said of the Hamptons mansion where the show is filmed. 'Though, we have said this so many times — I think I'm gonna, like, fake being sick or something and just show up there.'

Cunningham's comment wasn't just a passing joke. She has a long-standing friendship with Wilson, whom she's known since childhood.

The two grew up together in Columbia, Missouri, and have maintained a playful bond ever since. That chemistry now fuels their podcast, which promises to blend sports commentary with pop culture chaos.
'
We're definitely going to hit on the WNBA, a huge topic in sports right now, and then Bravo, clearly, but pop culture, food, fashion, travel—we really do talk about anything,' Cunningham said of the podcast's scope.
Their crossover connection is no accident. Wilson, who has supported Cunningham at several games and refers to her as a WNBA "fan favorite," recalls her fearless energy even in high school. As for a standout moment, he shared the time she stepped in as a football kicker on the night of their homecoming dance. 'It was homecoming so all these girls were dressed up so cute and pretty… and then I was like, in football pads with my poor date in a tuxedo,' Cunningham said with a laugh.
Sophie Cunningham admitted to being Bravo's newest recruit
Although she now plays in Indiana, Cunningham's influence is felt throughout the WNBA—and apparently, in the Bravo universe too. She admits to turning many of her Fever teammates into Summer House fans. 'I've been addicted, and I have my teammates on it. I have everyone watching it because of West,' she shared.
While Wilson jokingly worried about the locker room becoming his focus group, 'That part makes me nervous, that the team's watching,' Cunningham seemed cool with it.
The duo's banter, laced with humor and honesty, sets the tone for their podcast. 'We're lighthearted, and sometimes our love language is, like, s--- talking,' she said. 'It'll be cool that people can see our humor… and it's coming from us.'
The podcast has created anticipation among fans, but again, if Cunningham is absent from the WNBA, it's worth checking up with the Summer House cast.

In a bold and emotional moment, she revealed how poorly the WNBA paid her, even at the peak of her career. Diana Taurasi says she was paid less than a janitor during her WNBA career Women's basketball legend Diana Taurasi didn't hold back when she talked about WNBA salaries. In a new Amazon Prime Video docu-series titled Taurasi, which premieres on August 7, 2025, Diana Taurasi shared how badly paid she was throughout her time in the league. She revealed that she earned so little in the United States that she had to leave the country every year just to make a proper living. 'I'm the best player in the world, and I have to go to a communist country to get paid like a capitalist,' Diana Taurasi said about playing in Russia during the WNBA offseasons. She even claimed, 'The f****** janitor at the arena made more than me.' These bold comments came just weeks after the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, held in Phoenix, Arizona, where players wore shirts that said 'Pay Us What You Owe Us' before the game. The timing of Taurasi's words has sparked even more talk as the current WNBA Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is set to end after the 2025 season. Diana Taurasi compares WNBA salaries to overseas pay and shares personal sacrifice In the docu-series Taurasi, Diana Taurasi spoke honestly about why she had to play overseas. 'Maybe it's useless' - Sophie Cunningham reacts after WNBA fines her for podcast remarks
'Maybe it's useless' - Sophie Cunningham reacts after WNBA fines her for podcast remarks (Image Source: Getty Images) Sophie Cunningham, guard for the Indiana Fever, is back in the headlines, this time, not for her game, but for her words. The WNBA veteran recently launched her own podcast, giving fans a closer look into her thoughts. But one strong opinion has already drawn action from the league. Now, her voice off the court is causing just as much buzz as her plays on it. Sophie Cunningham fined after first podcast episode launched On July 31, Sophie Cunningham, guard for the Indiana Fever, released the first episode of her podcast called 'Show Me Something.' The podcast was filmed just days after her social media went viral for her strong defense of rookie teammate Caitlin Clark. In the debut episode, Sophie Cunningham openly criticized WNBA referees. She said, 'If I was a ref, I know I would mess up all the time… but when it is a simple call right in front of your face multiple times, what are you doing?' Due to those remarks, the WNBA fined her $1,500. She revealed the fine on August 5, 2025, during the second episode of her podcast. Cunningham had already been fined $500 on July 23, for a TikTok video she posted the week before. In the video, she lip-synced to the lyrics 'Stupid or is it slow? Maybe it's useless?' from the song 'Manchild' by Sabrina Carpenter, while tagging referees with the caption '@ some refs.' Cunningham calls the WNBA fines 'a joke' while others agree officiating is an issue Sophie Cunningham didn't hold back in her reaction. On the podcast released on August 5, she said, 'You fining me $500 is not going to do shit… and then I'll get fined for that, and then I'll get fined for this, and the fines will continue.' Cunningham, who is now in her sixth season, has seen a huge rise in social media followers, 1.6 million on TikTok and 1.2 million on Instagram, after standing up for Caitlin Clark in multiple games this season. While Sophie Cunningham may be the loudest voice right now, she isn't the only one pointing fingers at referees. On July 1, Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky said in a press conference, 'Officiating in this league has to be fixed.' Back in October 2024, after the WNBA Finals, Cheryl Reeve, head coach of the Minnesota Lynx, said the title was 'stolen' from her team due to bad calls. Even WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert spoke on this at the All-Star Game in June 2025, saying, 'We hear the concerns and are working on improvements.' The conversation around referee decisions isn't going away anytime soon, and players like Cunningham are making sure of it. Sophie Cunningham opened up about the s*x toy incident (Image via Instagram / @sophie_cham) Sophie Cunningham recently opened up about the sex toy that was thrown on the court during the recent Indiana Fever vs. Los Angeles Sparks game. In the last week, the league has been affected by three such incidents. Following this, the Indiana Fever guard took to her Instagram Stories to express her opinion on the whole thing. On social media earlier this week, the 28-year-old had previously urged people to refrain from tossing such items during the game. Sophie Cunningham stunned after bizarre courtside incident during the Indiana Fever vs. Los Angeles Sparks game The incident took place in Los Angeles with 2:05 remaining in the second quarter. Sophie Cunningham, the guard for the Indiana Fever, was the target of a green toy hurled at her at Arena. Kelsey Plum kicked it into the stands after the forward leaped back in shock. Following this, the WNBA star took to her Instagram and wrote: "No way that thing actually hit me. I knew I shouldn't have tweeted that." The game on Tuesday was also momentarily stopped after the incident. The WNBA star was giggling as he approached the L.A. Sparks bench. Meanwhile, the team's coach Lynne Roberts said: "I think it's ridiculous, it's dumb, it's stupid.. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like She Was The Dream Girl In The 1980s, Here She Is Now. Social media reports also claim that green toys were tossed in Phoenix and New York, though they didn't make it to the courts. The one at Barclays Centre landed near a child. The 28-year-old had previously urged others to refrain from tossing similar items. After the game, she also commented on X in response to her earlier post urging fans to refrain from flinging s*x objects into the court: 'This did NOT age well.' Sophie Cunningham in action (Image via Getty Images) A week ago, during the fourth quarter of the Atlanta Dream's game against the Golden State Valkyries in Georgia, a similar incident happened. A fan was also arrested and removed from the arena. After a whistle was blown to halt the game, another sex item was thrown under a basket in Chicago. Before the item could be picked up and taken away, an official kicked it aside. On the other hand, it's unclear if any disciplinary action has been taken or if the offender was ever identified. Additionally, CNN Sports has contacted the Indiana Fever, the Los Angeles Sparks, and the WNBA for comment.
