ESPN thinks this 2026 Oklahoma commit could flip this summer The 2026 recruiting class for the Oklahoma Sooners is shaping up to be extremely interesting at the most important position on the roster. By now, you've probably heard the details of OU's 2026 quarterback decision. Four-star QB Jaden O'Neal has been committed to the Sooners since June of 2024, but he committed to former offensive coordinator Seth Littrell. When Littrell was fired midseason and Ben Arbuckle this offseason season, O'Neal stayed committed to Oklahoma. But Arbuckle has been heavily pursuing fellow four-star QB Bowe Bentley out of Celina, Texas. While Bentley signing with the Sooners is far from a done deal, their interest in him could cost them O'Neal. It's been a cloud looming over the Sooners for a while, and it could lead to a storm this summer. At least, that's what Eli Lederman thinks. He used to cover the Sooners and now covers college football recruiting for ESPN. He wrote about how big June will be for the '26 recruiting class, and both O'Neal and Bentley were mentioned. He thinks Bentley's commitment is coming soon. The dual-threat quarterback from Celina, Texas, is down to LSU and Oklahoma. Bowe Bentley spent this past weekend with the Tigers and will make his latest trip to the Sooners this coming weekend, part of a swing of back-to-back officials that could help decide one of the most intriguing quarterback recruitments in the cycle. Sources within both programs feel confident about their chances with Bentley, who is likely to make a decision not long after wrapping up his pair of official visits early this month. - Lederman, ESPN. LSU has reportedly made a strong impression on Bentley over the last few weeks. He's certainly not a lock to land with Oklahoma, though it looks like the Sooners will get to make the last impression, as Bentley flipped his visits to put LSU first and Oklahoma last. Even if Bentley commits to OU, the Tigers will push to flip him all the way to December. However, LSU is absolutely in play to land Bentley in the coming weeks. That's why Lederman's comments about O'Neal, who visits Florida State on June 15-17, are concerning for Sooner Nation. If Bentley commits to LSU and O'Neal flips away from OU, the Sooners will be in a bad spot at a position they can't afford to be in a bad spot with, in an important class for the program, which also happens to be Arbuckle's first full class in his role. To their credit, members of the OU coaching staff did visit O'Neal at his home last month. The Sooners will also host O'Neal for an official visit for the Champ U BBQ. Despite 11 months spent in the Sooners' 2026 class and an offseason transfer from California to Oklahoma's Mustang High School, Jaden O'Neal could soon be on the move. The departure of Sooners offensive coordinator Seth Littrell last fall unsettled O'Neal's camp, and sources tell ESPN that the program's full-throttle pursuit of Bowe Bentley under new offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle has damaged the trust between O'Neal and Oklahoma. O'Neal visited Arizona over the weekend, and his upcoming official trip to Florida State looms especially large with Bentley nearing a decision and quarterback dominoes getting ready to fall this month. - Lederman, ESPN. Aside from Florida State and Arizona, programs like Colorado, Georgia, and Auburn have pursued O'Neal since Littrell was fired. O'Neal posted a picture from his visit to Arizona this weekend that could indicate his favorable opinion of Brent Brennan's program. Despite O'Neal's visit to Arizona, it's still Florida State who has been pursuing him the hardest. Steve Wiltfong, who covers college football recruiting for On3 Sports, believes O'Neal is a prime flip candidate. On a recent game of "Stick or Flip," Wiltfong said he thinks O'Neal will end up elsewhere. 'My gut says flip for a number of reasons,' Wiltfong said. 'First and foremost, Oklahoma is all in on Bowe Bentley. That is not a given that they are going to land him because LSU is very much a contender, but just the way it has kind of played out, and maybe it has already happened, but I almost think you have to re-recruit Jaden O'Neal. There are just other programs that have been genuine all the way through, so they have a shot.' The Sooners are approaching dangerous territory with the 2026 recruiting class at quarterback. If Bentley ends up at LSU, Arbuckle's pursuit of him and failure to land him could mean that he loses O'Neal, too. Oklahoma cannot afford to miss on both players in the '26 class, as the QB future after the 2025 season is a bit murky in Norman. Oklahoma currently has five quarterbacks on the roster for the 2025 season in John Mateer, Michael Hawkins Jr., Whitt Newbauer, Jett Niu, and Gavin Frakes. If Mateer, this year's starter, leaves for the NFL after the season, it'd likely be Hawkins' turn to step into the spotlight for the 2026 season. However, landing a blue-chip QB in the 2026 class will be paramount for Arbuckle, as that player, whether it's O'Neal or Bentley, could be in line to compete for the starting job in 2026, or potentially have the first crack at it in 2027 and beyond. Simply put, OU's future under center is at stake with what happens between now and signing day in the O'Neal-Bentley sweepstakes. We all saw what happened in 2024, when the Sooners were inexperienced at quarterback. Arbuckle was brought in to fix that. He'd better be sure he can convince Bentley to come to Oklahoma instead of LSU, because otherwise, it could cost him O'Neal in the process, whether Bentley ends up a Sooner or not. W12 is Dead, Long Live the V8: The New Bentayga Speed is Bentley's Fastest SUV Yet
Last year, British ultra-luxury powerhouse Bentley said its final goodbye to one of its most legendary creations. It wasn't a car, but rather a monster motor that exuded as much brashness and excess as the vehicles it was shoehorned under the hood of. In July 2024, the last 6-liter W12 engine left the masters of chaos at Bentley's Crewe factory. For over two decades, the twin-turbocharged twelve cylinders of fury would find themselves under the hood of multiple Bentleys, including the Continental GT coupe, Flying Spur sedan, and even the Bentayga SUV. The W12 found a special home in the Flying B's SUV, where an uprated version powered the high-performance Bentayga Speed model. However, as demonstrated with the latest iteration of the Continental GT Speed and its hybrid twin-turbo V8, the departure of the W12 doesn't mean that Bentley's Speed models are no more. Bentley's newest version of the Bentayga Speed may not feature the twin-turbo W12, but it doesn't entirely mean it is down on power. Notably, Bentley did not opt for the plug-in hybrid system that resides under the hood of the Continental GT Speed; instead, it chose an uprated version of the twin-turbo 4-liter V8, which comes standard with the vehicle. The new Bentayga Speed makes 641 horsepower, 99 horsepower more than in its "standard" configuration and 15 more horsepower than the W12. While it is up on power, the new, smaller motor makes 37 pound-feet less torque than the outgoing W12, though it still makes a back-breaking 627 pound-feet of torque through its wheels. As a result, Bentley claims that its large and in charge SUV goes from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds, and can rocket up to a top speed of 3.4 seconds. The new big Speed also weighs 95 pounds less than the W12 model and should feel more agile behind the wheel, thanks to new rear-wheel steering. If you opt for the huge 23-inch Speed wheels, you can also opt for carbon-ceramic brakes for some extra help trying to stop the Speed's 5,435 pounds. The new Speed also features a new Sport driving mode, which tightens the suspension dampers by 15% compared to the Bentayga V8, as well as enhanced torque vectoring, making the steering sharper for spirited drives with the family. Bentley states that the Sport mode features an enhanced stability control setting, allowing the driver to execute "exhilarating drift angles or power-on oversteer when appropriate." As a bonus, Bentley gave the new Speed a standard sports exhaust, as well as the option for a quad-tip Akrapovič titanium exhaust, which it claims "accentuates the power, drama and potency of the V8, with its aural expression of the performance that awaits at the merest flex of the throttle." Bentley kept the Speed relatively classy with its exterior and interior accouterments compared to other "sport" or high-performance luxury SUVs with similar power numbers. The only distinct way to tell a Speed from the outside is darker-tinted chrome elements, subtle speed badges on the front doors, and unique wheels available in chrome or dark-tinted chrome. In addition, the Speed gets some unique headlights and taillights with darker housing and a contrasting black roof in a satin or gloss finish, which it says "makes a powerful, assertive visual impact." Bentley continues the 'dark mode' theme on the inside. Its standard chrome accents can be ordered in a dark tint to match the outside, while the seat upholstery features darker hides and a new diamond-stitch pattern. The Speed-exclusive graphics on the gauge cluster, Speed badges on the dashboard and doorsills, and a Speed logo on the seats themselves remind you of just how special the SUV you're in is. I feel that Bentley lopping off four whole cylinders from its engine is not a dealbreaker for many Bentley buyers. On its own, a Bentley Bentayga is already a fast, luxurious package offering many comforts and power that go above and beyond compared to other luxury offerings. That said, I think this is a nice addition for the kind of Bentley buyer who isn't all into the "old money" look with all the chrome and pomp and circumstance. Prosecutors seek record $250 million from fugitive drug lord
Dutch prosecutors said Monday they were seeking to confiscate a record $253 million from one of Europe's most notorious drug lords, thought to be hiding in Sierra Leone. The illegal assets amassed by Jos Leijdekkers, also known as "Bolle Jos" or "Chubby Jos," were proceeds from cocaine trafficking, as well as purchases of gold and luxury items, the public prosecutors said. Leijdekkers is thought to have made 114 million euros from 14 cocaine shipments over less than a year. According to intercepted communications, the 33-year-old also spent 47 million euros on 975 kilograms of gold over less than six months. The kingpin additionally bought real estate including a hotel in Turkey and apartments in Dubai, the prosecutors alleged. Luxury goods including two Bentley cars, designer bags, jewellery and watches, were also added to the total of illicit assets, bringing the total to $253 million. "This is... only a first step towards tracing Leijdekkers' assets," the prosecutors said. A Rotterdam court last June sentenced Leijdekkers in absentia to 24 years in prison for ordering a murder and organizing cocaine shipments. He is on Europol's most-wanted list, with the European police body offering over $225,000 for information leading to his arrest. "Leijdekkers is considered to be one of the key players in international cocaine trafficking," according to Europol. In January, Dutch authorities said they were "absolutely certain" he was hiding out in Sierra Leone. The BBC reported that Dutch prosecutor Wim de Bruin said the fugitive's return to the Netherlands was of "the highest priority." Images apparently showing Leijdekkers in the company of officials as high as President Julius Maada Bio have sparked speculation the cocaine lord has cozied up to Sierra Leone's political class -- including the president's daughter. Suspicions he was in Sierra Leone arose after the country's First Lady Fatima Bio posted pictures and a video on social media that showed a man strongly resembling Leijdekkers at a religious service, also attended by President Bio. Exiled Sierra Leone opposition figure Mohamed Mansaray has accused Bio and his government of "offering refuge" to the drug lord. According to Mansaray, Leijdekkers has coupled up with the president's daughter Agnes Bio, who is seen accompanying the drug lord in the images. Leijdekkers is also believed to be involved in the disappearance and death of Naima Jillal, a woman who went missing in 2019 after she got into a car in Amsterdam, according to Europol. Intercepted messages allegedly showed that Leijdekkers "played an important role in Jillal's disappearance," the agency said. "For a long time, there was no trace of Naima Jillal, until photos of a woman believed to be her were found on a phone seized in the Marengo investigation," Europol said. "The photos show that she was most likely tortured and is probably no longer alive."
