vivo releases more X Fold5 teaser images and a hands-on video

GSM Arena15 hours ago

vivo is unveiling the X Fold5 in China on June 25, while its global launch may be coming on July 10. Ahead of the full announcement, the company has continued its teaser campaign on Weibo, where it has today released a bunch of new official images of the phone. There's even a hands-on video now doing the rounds in China, here it is embedded for your viewing pleasure. Obviously, it's in Chinese, but you don't need to understand the audio in order to appreciate what you're seeing, we'd wager.
Alongside the images and the video, vivo is teasing the fact that the X Fold3 from last year still holds the record for being the lightest book-style foldable, and the X Fold5 will break that record. Thus it will weigh under 219g. That's slab-style phone territory.

The Fold5 is also said to be thinner than its predecessor, but despite that it will pack the largest capacity battery in any foldable, at 6,000 mAh. The battery has 12% silicon content and can operate at even -30°C. The hinge is tested to work in -20°C, and multitasking is promised to get a boost thanks to vivo's Atomic Workbench, a desktop-like experience.

The X Fold5 will also be the first Android phone to seamlessly integrate into the Apple ecosystem, and this is aimed specifically at iPhone users who want a folding phone but don't want to leave Apple's walled garden. And now they won't have to. A vivo exec says using the X Fold5 side-by-side with an iPhone is totally possible, as is replacing the iPhone altogether.

OnePlus has a pleasant surprise in the works for its fans with low budgets

OnePlus Pad Lite | Image credit: 91mobiles @OnLeaks OnePlus introduced two high-tier devices in the last couple of weeks, the OnePlus 13s and OnePlus Pad 3. If you're a devoted OnePlus fan but can't afford either of the two devices, you'll be happy to know the Chinese company has a big surprise for customers with lower Pad Lite is an affordable tablet with premium design and solid specs. The folks at 91mobiles and Steve Hemmerstoffer ( OnLeaks ) put together several renders that show the upcoming tablet from different angles, as well as with its dedicated cover on. The Pad Lite doesn't look like OnePlus's latest slate, the Pad 3, but it does borrow most of its design traits from the other tablet the company introduced in the past. This makes perfect sense considering that the Pad Lite is supposed to be the child of OnePlus's previous entry-level tablet, the Pad Go. We also have OnePlus Pad Lite's dimensions in case you're curios: 254.9 x 166.5 x 7.4mm. The tablet weighs 539g, which makes it around the same weight as the OnePlus Pad Go, which weighs the Pad Lite offers some minimal upgrades over the Pad Go. For example, the slate is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G100 chipset, which is a tad more powerful than Pad Go's Helio G99. It's also worth mentioning the Pad Lite packs 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, but different storage options might be available at launch. OnePlus Pad Lite | Images credits: 91mobiles @OneLeaks As far as the camera goes, the Pad Lite got downgraded to dual 5-megapixel cameras, one on the front and one on the rear. In comparison, the Pad Go has an 8-megapixel main sensor and an 8-megapixel selfie biggest upgrade over the Pad Go seems to be the battery. As some of you probably know already, OnePlus Pad Go is powered by an 8,000 mAh battery, but the Pad Lite will have a much bigger 9,340 mAh OnePlus Pad Lite is said to feature an 11-inch LCD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. This is slightly smaller than the Pad Go's 11.35-inch display, but that will probably not be as noticeable as the resolution, which is also lower. OnePlus Pad Lite will be available in Aero Blue color and will come with a folio cover. No information about the price is available yet, but we suspect this will be initially introduced in India for less than Rs 20,000 ($230 / €200).

WWDC 25 was proof that Apple's AI debacle was a blessing for iPhone and iPad users

For a 2025 event, this year's Worldwide Developers Conference was a tad underwhelming. For Apple users though, it was everything they could have asked for. Last year was a rude awakening for the company, but it was exactly what it needed to get off its high horse. At its annual software conference last year, Apple teased a myriad of AI-powered features. Those features were also touted as the main selling point of the iPhone 16. It took a long time for the company to admit that the flashiest features wouldn't be shipping anytime soon. Not only was this an admission that it was struggling with AI but it also raised speculations that it only promised vaporware, though the company insists that's not way, the situation was quite embarrassing for the company, which could be why it reversed course this year and made interface makeovers the focal point of its software presentation. Apple has introduced some useful features for iPhone and iPad users this year. | Image Credit - Apple Apple had put itself on a high pedestal and often chased gimmicky features instead of rolling out the ones users approach appears to have blown up in its face. For years, the company got away with overpromising but after the AI debacle of last year, it's trying to make up by giving customers what they have always wanted. The biggest highlight of this year is the transparent Liquid Glass design. And while users are divided on whether it's a stroke of genius or a letdown, you'll have to agree that it's a step forward. We have stuck with static interfaces for far too long and while Apple's implementation may not be perfect, it has shown the industry the way forward. Another huge change Apple announced this year is a Mac-like interface for the iPad. This comes after years of insistence that the iPad isn't exactly a computer. And while the tablet still doesn't run MacOS, with iPadOS 26, it will pretty much act like a computer, thanks to a new windowing system, drag-and-drop support, and improved file handling. And then, there are some iOS 26 features that Android handsets have had for years and the iPhone should have gotten long ago. These include spam management, hold assist, real-time translation, and charging time estimate. Most users will take an improved iPad experience over overhyped AI features any day. | Image Credit - Apple Apple did ship a good many of the AI features it previewed at last year's WWDC. What's still not arrived is an upgraded Siri. So while the AI experience on the iPhone is on par with other phones, there's nothing unique about it and that's okay. In a bid to prove that it wasn't behind other companies, Apple promised features that weren't ready. The company seems to have learned its lesson, which explains why AI took a back seat during WWDC 2025. If that weren't the case, Apple users might still be without the features they had been asking for over the years. If the trade-off for the first design overhaul in years, much-needed call and messaging features, and a Mac-like iPad interface is delayed AI features, most users will gladly take it.
