Bhu Guarantee Scheme is the sixth one of govt
Vijayanagara: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday said that the Bhu Guarantee scheme was the sixth of the Congress Guarantee schemes and added that it was meant to repay the debt of the people who blessed us with power in the state.
'We are giving the Bhu Guarantee scheme as the sixth guarantee to repay our debt to the people of the state who blessed us with power. As per the directions of the AICC President, the guarantee schemes will not be stopped as long as Congress government is in power,' he said speaking at the 'Samarpana convention' organised to mark the state government completing two years.
'We are not here to celebrate completing two years in office. We are here to repay the debts of the people of Karnataka and rededicate ourselves to the service of the people. You have blessed us with 136 MLAs under the leadership of Mallikarjuna Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. As promised, we delivered the five guarantees. We are now launching the sixth guarantee in Bhu Guarantee scheme,' he added.
'Our government is giving khatas to people who did not have it for the last 50 years. I would like to congratulate Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and his team for making this historic scheme possible. I am announcing the seventh guarantee scheme of digitising all the khatas in urban areas,' he added.
'Our government has put a break on corruption in the last two years. Indira Gandhi started the steel plant in this district. Sonia Gandhi started RTPS here. The Congress party has won in all the places where our leader Rahul Gandhi conducted Bharat Jodo yatra. Kalyana Karnataka has given us 6 MPs from the region. We are happy to be giving Rs 5,000 crores to the region for development,' he said.
'Opposition parties are criticising us. Criticisms die but good work lives on. Our schemes are a proof of that. We have plans to fill tanks in the state while we are discussing Navali dam. We are planning to utilise our share of 24 TMC through lift irrigation. We are committed to protect your interests.'
'Industries have come forward to invest Rs 10 lakh crore in our state during our tenure. We have launched Kalyana patha scheme to develop roads in rural areas. All other departments are also coming out new schemes. We follow the philosophy of Basavanna and we have kept our word accordingly.
The Opposition is criticising us as they can't digest our accomplishments. Irrespective of criticism, we will continue to do good work,' he added.

PMC's welfare schemes for transgender community translate into nothing on ground
Pune: Over a year after the Pune Municipal Corporation announced a range of welfare schemes for the transgender community, not a single benefit, monetory or otherwise, reflected on the ground. Schemes rollout in Jan 2024 promised a comprehensive upliftment package for the transgender community. Along with the healthcare stipend, PMC also proposed Rs 15,000 grants for self-help groups (SHGs) run by transgender people, one-time vocational training and self-employment assistance of Rs 10,000 for transgender persons between 18 and 45 years. Civic authorities were also reported to be actively looking for empty plots to build shelter homes for the city's transgender population, a part of the initiatives announced. None of the schemes moved forward. Transgender activists call it another chapter in a long history of tokenism. "There has been no consideration, no call for discussion, nothing from PMC," Bindumadhav Khire, an LGBTQ+ rights activist and founder of Samapathik Trust, told TOI. "We even wrote a letter to PMC asking for access to one of the many abandoned school buildings in the city. We offered to run a shelter home for the transgender community there free of cost, find our own funding and manage the space. We only asked for one or two rooms. We said we were open to a dialogue, but no one ever responded. They say all the right things in public, but do nothing," the activist said. "The social justice department, where I was part of the transgender grievance committee, was no different. I eventually resigned because they never acted on anything," Khire told TOI. Among these schemes, one of the most publicized was monthly Rs1,000 healthcare allowance for transgender people over the age of 45. It was meant to begin in early 2024, but it is stuck in the proposal stage without any progress on budget, disbursement, etc, to date. "All these initiatives are in the proposal stage," confirmed Nitin Udas, deputy commissioner, social empowerment department, PMC. "A major issue is the lack of documentation for transgender people to apply for any such schemes for their welfare," Udas said. Members of the community say that lack of documentation is an old excuse. "We are asked for Aadhaar, bank account details, name match with IDs. But most of us do not have these documents because the system still hasn't caught up with our identities and gender. State Gives Compensation to Families of Saptashrungi Building Collapse Victims
Thane: BJP MLA Sulabha Gaikwad, on behalf of the state govt, on Saturday provided Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the families of each of the six people who died after falling from a part of the Saptashrungi building in Kalyan (East) last month. Last month on May 20 , six persons, including four women and a two-year-old child, were killed and four others were injured after a slab of the top floor of a four-storey building in Kalyan collapsed on the lower floors. After the incident, CM Devendra Fadnavis declared compensation of Rs 5 lakh to each family. Subsequently, cheques of compensation were given on Saturday by MLA Sulabha Gaikwad to all six families in her office in Kalyan East.

MGNREGA empowering poor farmers & labourers in MP: CM
Bhopal: Chief minister Mohan Yadav said on Sunday that the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act ( MGNREGA ) has emerged as a strong foundation for the prosperity of the poor, farmers, and labourers of Madhya Pradesh. Yadav said that this scheme not only provides local employment to the poor, labourers, and farmers but also helps in enhancing irrigation facilities. "Under MGNREGA, works such as the construction of farm ponds, Amrit Sarovars, wells, check dams, land levelling, bunding, horticulture, renovation of water bodies, and rainwater harvesting structures are being carried out. So far, 32 lakh people in the state received employment through MGNREGA as part of the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan. During FY 2025–26, approximately Rs 1500 crore was paid in wages to workers," he said. The central and state govts are implementing MGNREGA, which guarantees 100 days of employment locally to ensure that people in rural areas receive employment at the local level. Since April this year, 32 lakh individuals from 22 lakh families benefited from the scheme in the state.
