How the humble Good Morning towel became a symbol of hard-working people in Asia
It is early on a Saturday morning and a wet market in Hong Kong's Causeway Bay neighbourhood is heaving with people stocking up on produce before Typhoon Wipha hits later that day. At one stall, a fishmonger fillets a fish on a chopping block. A red bucket hangs on the wall next to him, while styrofoam boxes are scattered throughout the market. Hidden among the stalls is another market 'staple' – the Good Morning towel, a piece of white cotton emblazoned with 'Good Morning' in bright red cursive and its equivalent translation in Chinese (zhu jun zao an). While 'Good Morning' is the most common phrase, others such as 'Good Fortune' and 'Very Healthy' adorn some towels in the same distinctive red font. 'I have many of these towels,' says the fishmonger, slightly perplexed as to why someone is asking about an old rag. Walk around the city and you will see them draped over buckets or dangling from minibus' mirrors. Pop the boot of a taxi and a few might stare back with their cheery greeting.

2,000 people left without power in Hong Kong after water leak in building
About 2,000 people, including residents in three care homes for the elderly, were left without electricity on Saturday evening after a water leak in a Hong Kong complex prompted the power provider to suspend the supply. Advertisement Utility firm CLP Power said the electrical systems in I-Feng Mansions in To Kwa Wan were suspected to have been affected by water leakage, causing problems with the electricity supply to parts of the residential complex. 'Under the instruction of firefighters, CLP Power suspended the electricity supply to the premises at around 6.15pm so that the building's electricians could conduct further investigation and repairs,' a company spokesman said. The firm said about 900 clients, including three homes for the elderly, had been affected by the move, with the government estimating 2,000 residents in 800 households were hit. It added that the building's electricians had arrived to carry out emergency repairs with backup support from CLP Power engineering staff. Water leakage is suspected to have affected the complex's electrical systems. Las Vegas-bound plane drops 300 feet after mid-air collision warning with UK fighter jet
A passenger jet heading to Las Vegas from Southern California in the United States took a dramatic plunge shortly after take-off on Friday in response to an alert about a nearby plane, injuring two flight attendants, authorities and passengers said. Southwest Airline flight 1496 was responding to an on-board alert about another aircraft in its vicinity, the Federal Aviation Administration said. The FAA is investigating. The crew responded to two air alerts that required the pilot to climb then descend, Southwest said in a statement. The flight departed from Hollywood Burbank Airport just before noon. Passengers posted on social media that the plane took a dramatic drop soon after take-off. Data from the flight tracking site FlightAware shows it dropped roughly 300 feet (91.44 metres) in 36 seconds. 'Pilot said his collision warning went off & he needed to avoid plane coming at us,' comedian Jimmy Dore posted on social media. The plane was in the same airspace near Burbank as a Hawker Hunter Mk. 58 just after noon local time, FlightAware data shows. A Hawker Hunter is a British fighter plane. Records show it is owned by Hawker Hunter Aviation, a British defence contracting company. The company did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
