Newport lift Super Rygbi Cymru title at Ebbw Vale
Newport have been crowned inaugural Super Rygbi Cymru champions after beating Ebbw Vale 27-18 at Eugene Cross Park.
The Black and Ambers led 17-6 at the break and maintained the initiative to inflict the Steelmen's first home defeat of the season.
Evan Lloyd put the hosts in front with an early penalty, but after fly-half opponent Jac Lloyd replied, Dafydd Buckland went over for a lead Newport held onto until the final whistle.
Jac Lloyd, brother of Wales and Scarlets' Cardiff-bound 10 Ioan Lloyd, broke through for his own touchdown in a man-of-the-match display.
Wing Carwyn Penny was next to cross before Ebbw Vale hit back through Ewan Bowden and Curtis Gregory added a second touchdown before Jac Lloyd put the outcome beyond doubt with a penalty.
Cardiff finished top of the table during the regular season, but lost out in the play-offs that ended with Newport travelling to Ebbw Vale in the final.

Jadon Sancho offered route out of Man United if Chelsea pass on permanent deal

The Manchester United winger has had limited impact in a loan move at Chelsea FC, who will only decide whether they want to take up a permanent option after a post-season summit. Advertisement Former club Borussia Dortmund are also understood to have passed up the chance of a deal. Bayer Leverkusen are nevertheless understood to be pondering a deal, due to Sancho's previous impact in the Bundesliga. The 25-year-old has 40 goals and 47 assists in 118 appearances during previous spells for Dortmund. By contrast, he only has three goals and five assists in 30 Premier League games for Chelsea. United are desperate to make sales this summer, and Sancho has long been on the market, going back to a difficult spell under previous manager Erik ten Hag. The winger, also has interest from Serie A, never fully settled after an expensive move in 2021, only ever showing flashes of the form he produced for Dortmund. Advertisement Leverkusen are currently deciding on a shortlist of managers to replace Real Madrid-bound Xabi Alonso, and one of those is Ten Hag. If they do choose the Dutch coach, it is likely that any interest in Sancho would end.

Leverkusen sign Brentford goalie Flekken
Bayer Leverkusen have signed Netherlands goalkeeper Mark Flekken from Premier League side Brentford, the Bundesliga club announced on Tuesday. German media reported Leverkusen paid 10 million euros (£8.45 million, $11.5 million) to secure the 31-year-old's services.
