
Strata produces and delivers 100,000 aerostructure components

ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Strata Manufacturing PJSC (Strata), owned by Mubadala Investment Company and a leader in advanced manufacturing in the United Arab Emirates, has achieved a major milestone with the production of 100,000 aerostructure components by the end of April 2025, reflecting the UAE's vision for industrial growth and Strata's role in placing the country on the global aerospace map.This achievement highlights the growing trust in Strata's capabilities, built over a decade and a half of manufacturing excellence. It marks a journey that began in 2010 with the company's first component the Flap Track Fairings for the Airbus A330 aircraft and Strata has expanded its portfolio to include several aerostructures for major international players such as Airbus, Boeing, Pilatus, and Leonardo, reflecting the company's evolution into a trusted partner at the heart of the global aerospace supply chain.Ismail Ali Abdulla, Executive Director of UAE Clusters unit within Mubadala's UAE Investments platform and Managing Director of Strata, made the announcement during the "Make it in the Emirates – 2025." He said: 'Strata has recorded a significant increase in the number of aircraft components marked 'Made with Pride in the UAE.' Today, nearly 30 per cent of wide body aircrafts and business jets worldwide are flying with parts manufactured in the UAE, from Al Ain Region.''Strata has become one of the most influential players in shaping the future of the aerospace industry. Delivering 100,000 aircraft components is more than just a number, it is a reflection of the progress made under the Make it in the Emirates initiative and a step forward in the positioning the UAE aerospace manufacturing.'Sara Al Memari, Acting CEO of Strata Manufacturing, said: 'The greatest source of pride at Strata lies in its exceptional talent and world class expertise, which have positioned the company among the most trusted names in the industry. This journey of continuous innovation and progress is led by a highly qualified and creative Emirati workforce on the ground.''Our team is highly skilled, committed, and trusted by the leading aircraft manufacturers. We are proud that 67 per cent of our workforce are UAE nationals and out of which 87 per cent are females. This achievement sets a new benchmark for the industry and highlights Strata's commitment to empowering local talent.'
Strata began with one production line in 2010 and now operates 30 production lines, with over 90 per cent of components and assemblies being single-sourced manufactures exclusively at Strata and delivered to the global partners.

EDGE signs record-breaking Dh 9 bn naval contract with Kuwait's Ministry of Defence
3 June 2025 21:04 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD) EDGE, one of the world's leading advanced technology and defence groups, has announced the signing of a major Dh 9 billion ($ 2.45 billion) defence contract with the Kuwait Ministry of Defence for the supply of FALAJ3 62-metre missile boats. This contract marks the largest naval shipbuilding export in the region and ranks among the highest-value naval export deals globally. As the prime contractor, EDGE will lead the programme which includes the design, construction, trials, and delivery of the vessels, in addition to Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and In-Service Support (ISS). EDGE will also provide the ammunition for the vessels, further demonstrating its end-to-end capability offering. Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), EDGE Group's naval arm and the UAE's leading shipbuilder, has been selected as the build subcontractor for the programme. Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO, of EDGE, said: 'This agreement with Kuwait is hugely significant both in scale and strategic importance. It deepens long-term defence ties between our nations, brings a proven class of advanced vessels into regional service, and reinforces EDGE's position as a trusted international partner. The FALAJ 3-class missile boat has also been selected by the UAE Navy, with the first vessel, ALTAF, formally commissioned into service in February 2025. This operational deployment reflects the vessel's proven capability and performance in regional waters. With the latest agreement, these advanced 62-metre vessels are tailored to meet Kuwait's operational requirements, offering high performance, advanced combat systems, and enhanced capabilities for littoral defence operations. This latest contract reinforces EDGE's position as a trusted partner for customers seeking turnkey defence solutions and integrated long-term support while driving the UAE's strategic objectives for defence exports and industrial collaboration. Kuwait Investment Authority joins AI Infrastructure Partnership
MGX, BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP)- a part of BlackRock- and Microsoft have welcomed the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) to the AI Infrastructure Partnership (AIP), further reinforcing AIP's global reach and strategic impact as it accelerates investment in next-generation AI infrastructure. KIA is the first non-founder financial anchor investor to join AIP. With decades of deep investment experience, KIA is "well positioned to support AIP's growth and help execute its global strategy." Established in September 2024 by BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), MGX, and Microsoft, AIP was created to help mobilise $30 billion in equity capital from investors, asset owners, and corporations, with the potential to reach up to $100 billion when including debt financing. Tourism spending in Middle East projected to reach $350 billion by 2030
3 June 2025 18:38 DUBAI (ALETIHAD)A new report compiled by Tourism Economics on behalf of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) predicts that by 2030, total tourism spend in the Middle East will be 50% higher than in 2024, generating expenditure of nearly $350 billion. The ATM Travel Trends Report 2025 reveals insights into the trends and transformations redefining the travel sector in the Middle East and worldwide, including the surge of business travel, the growth of the luxury segment, and the boom in regional sports tourism. The report highlights exceptional growth in Middle East travel spending, projected to exceed 2019 levels by 54% this year and anticipates an annual growth rate of over 7% from 2025 to 2030. Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME, Arabian Travel Market, said: 'The report's findings confirm that travel growth in the Middle East is incredibly strong, with annual growth averaging more than 7% through 2030. Bold national visions, game-changing developments, and enhanced connectivity are some of the key factors driving this momentum.'Underscoring the Middle East's strong position in global tourism, inbound travel from outside the region is set to grow by 13% annually up to 2030 and outbound business travel forecast to surge at 9% per year. European source markets make up 50% of all leisure travel to the Middle East, with India and the United Kingdom the top two inbound international leisure source markets. China is also a critical market, ranking third by value with leisure spend expected to increase by 130% by 2030. Furthermore, tourism nights by visitors from Asia Pacific and Africa, are expected to increase by over 100% between now and 2030. For outbound travel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt dominate regional flows, while Thailand and the United Kingdom lead as preferred long-haul destinations. The four largest airlines in the region – Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways and Saudia – have placed nearly 780 aircraft orders with Boeing and Airbus, representing major expansions to their existing fleets. This significant investment underscores the region's strategic focus on becoming a global aviation hub and meeting rising passenger demand over the coming decade. The Middle East's rise as a global hub for business events is another key highlight of the report, which states that spending on Middle East business travel will grow 1.5 times faster than the global average through to 2030. The region's strategic location at the centre of Asia, Africa, and Europe supports business and leisure travel, with the latter on a particularly strong trajectory for sector plays a vital role in developing the region's reputation for hosting major events. It is expected to experience the second-fastest rate of business travel growth among all global regions, underscoring the increased potential for combining business and leisure travel, or 'bleisure'.The region is also witnessing unprecedented growth in luxury and lifestyle tourism, attracting a new generation of high-net-worth travellers, drawn to exceptional Middle East hospitality, curated experiences and premium cultural to the report global spending on luxury leisure hospitality is expected to continue growing briskly reaching over $390 billion by 2028.'Travellers drawn to the Middle East tend to spend more on travel overall, nearly 60% habitually spending on luxury experiences while travelling compared to under 40% among travellers who favour other destinations,' added the more than 170 luxury hotel properties in the Middle East, nearly 100 are situated Abu Dhabi and Dubai, with 22 currently in development. With several luxury properties in the pipeline among Saudi Arabia's Giga projects, the region will continue to serve as a preferred destination for luxury and leisure travellers. Following in the footsteps of the Qatar 2022 World Cup and Dubai Expo 2020, the Middle East region has a proven track record for successfully hosting high-profile entertainment and sports events. According to the ATM Travel Trends report, the strong appetite for sports tourism in the region will lead to a potential growth rate of 63% in the coming years, with the 2034 FIFA World Cup in Saudi Arabia set to continue this to the report, golf, motorsports, football, cycling, and esports are all benefiting from heightened visibility and investment in the region. ATM is the leading international travel and tourism event held annually in Dubai. The next edition will take place from May 4-7, 2026.
