The game included stellar performances from Knicks stars Karl Anthony-Towns and Jalen Brunson, who combined for 56 points in the Big Apple.
Brunson and Towns' performances put the Knicks duo in the NBA record books alongside Lakers legends Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, a testament to their considerable talents.
Brunson and Towns scored 20-plus points during each of the Knicks' first five games of their conference series, making them the only duo to accomplish the feat since O'Neal and Bryant during the Western Conference Finals in 2002 against the Sacramento Kings.

The San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan began OTAs with a powerful message that he hopes inspires a bounce-back season in 2025.
The San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan began OTAs with a powerful message that he hopes inspires a bounce-back season in 2025. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Sometimes "Super Bowl hangovers" happen not just to the winning team. Advertisement San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan believes that was the case with his team last season. After a 12-5 regular season in 2023 that ended in a heartbreaking three-point loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII, the Niners tumbled to a 6-11 record in 2024 and missed the playoffs. Shanahan understands this sequence of events, but believes it still sets his team up for success in 2025. 'The way I addressed it the most, was at our last meeting in January,' Shanahan said to NBC Sports Bay Area. 'I just told the guys, I talked about how the season ended the year before, and how when I felt them all come back. I felt guys weren't ready to come back and I understood that. Advertisement 'But I told them how I really won't understand it this year, not that that was right or wrong, but I couldn't comprehend it." San Francisco will benefit from their season ending five weeks earlier than it did the year before after their playoff push. That time away should help refresh the bodies and reignite the flame that guides them into the next season. Lucky for Shanahan and the 49ers, there is a pattern here that should predict an optimistic outlook for 2025. The Shanahan-led 49ers have lost two Super Bowls, 2019 and 2023. The following year each time? Two stinker six-wins seasons (6-10 in 2020, 6-11 in 2024). Advertisement But after the let-down season in 2020? They made it back to the NFC championship game. So the time off after missing the playoffs could prove beneficial this time around, too. However, it won't come easy. San Fran saw a band of contributing players leave the team this free agency, which could preview a slight rebuild of the roster around the 49ers' stars. 'We are going to have a team that doesn't know what we've done in the past, or how you guys have earned a lot of stuff,' Shanahan said. 'We need to show them, and the first meeting when we get back, I expect our whole team to be here and for it to be important to guys." The nine-year coach later mentioned that every single player on the roster reported to duty on the first day of OTAs this week - that includes the newly-signed veteran leaders George Kittle, Fred Warner and Brock Purdy. San Francisco 49ers 11-Time Pro Bowl Star Trent Williams Misses Voluntary OTAs
San Francisco 49ers 11-Time Pro Bowl Star Trent Williams Misses Voluntary OTAs originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Every San Francisco 49ers star is present for the team's voluntary organized team activities except for one. Star offensive tackle Trent Williams. Advertisement Williams is entering his 15th season in the league after being selected with the No. 4 overall pick in 2010 by the Washington Redskins. The team doesn't appear to be alarmed about Williams' absence, as head coach Kyle Shanahan told the media on Thursday that he's "been around" the facility already this offseason. 'He's been around,' Shanahan said. 'He was here at the beginning of — not OTAs — but Phase One [of the offseason program]. He hasn't been here in a couple of weeks but expect to see him soon.' The former Oklahoma Sooner missed out on Pro Bowl honors last season for the first time since 2011. Williams did not play in 2019 due to a medical disagreement with the Redskins at the time. He played in just 10 games last season due to an ankle injury. Advertisement The fact that Williams was at the team facility during the early portion of the offseason surprised many, since he normally skips that. Williams is working out at his home gym in Houston, preparing for the team's mandatory minicamp this offseason. Williams is widely considered one of the greatest offensive linemen of all time, as an 11-time Pro Bowler and has been named First-Team All-Pro three times and Second-Team All-Pro once. San Francisco 49ers rookie Mykel Williams is thankful for the team re-signing Brock Purdy.
San Francisco 49ers rookie Mykel Williams is thankful for the team re-signing Brock Purdy. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The San Francisco 49ers signed star field general Brock Purdy to an extension worth $265 million over the course of the next five years. Advertisement And the organization could be not be more relieved. Among the people glad that Purdy got a new deal with the team is Niners first-round pick Mykel Williams, who recently spoke with Kay Adams on Up & Adams. "Thank God," Williams said jokingly. "We needed Brock. Brock's the guy. I believe in Brock Purdy. He's done it. He went to a Super Bowl. He's shown that he can take the team to that realm, so why not pay him? Why not believe in him?" The rookie might be in his first season in the NFL, but he sounds like he is speaking with a lot of wisdom. The 49ers might have been 6-11 this past season, but Purdy still put up some solid numbers. Advertisement He finished 2024 with 3,864 passing yards and 20 touchdowns on just under 66 percent completion. A lot of the Niners struggles were cause by injuries to their stars, so not all of the blame can be placed on Purdy. Achilles tendinitis kept superstar running back Christian McCaffrey out for four games, and a severe know injury sidelined wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk for the last 10 games of the season. The 25-year-old quarterback will go into 2025 looking to get the team back on the right track, as well as prove to everyone else why he was worthy of an expensive contract extension.
