125 Malkangiri villages to be brought under PM-JANMAN
Koraput: In a major stride toward inclusive and equitable growth, 125 villages across five tribal-dominated blocks in Malkangiri district have been brought under the ambit of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN).

The initiative aims to transform the lives of around 23,000 individuals, many belonging to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) such as the Bonda and Didayi communities.
Officials confirmed that the scheme will be executed through a coordinated effort involving eight govt departments, targeting over 5,000 households across the blocks of Khairaput, Chitrakonda, Mathili, Korukonda, and Malkangiri.
So far, 1,665 beneficiaries have been selected for housing under PM-JANMAN, and over 160 houses have already been completed, said collector (Malkangiri) Asish Iswar Patil.
To address basic infrastructure gaps, mega drinking water projects are underway in 124 villages, with 10 systems operational. Simultaneously, the rural development department is spearheading construction of roads across five blocks.
The department concerned has been asked to identify gaps where anganwadi centres are required, and we expect to complete their construction by year-end, the collector added.
Healthcare access is also being prioritized, with seven mobile health units providing doorstep medical services across the region. The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) will construct 10 hostels for students from remote areas to ensure continued access to education.
Officials said efforts are underway to enhance connectivity with mobile network services to be extended to 16 unconnected villages, of which three have already received coverage.

In the agriculture sector, 6,326 farmers are set to receive free fertilizers and seeds, while five Van Dhan Vikas Kendras will be established as community resource hubs to boost local livelihoods.
There are also plans to set up two new Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) focusing on skill development programmes tailored for youth from the Bonda and Didayi tribes, Patil said. To strengthen the social fabric, three large community halls will be built to host cultural and social gatherings, reinforcing the holistic vision of the programme.
The implementation of PM-JANMAN is a transformative initiative aimed at delivering justice, development, and integration for tribal communities, while preserving their unique cultural identity, the collector said.

Bengaluru: The cabinet Thursday approved the construction of two major tunnel road corridors in Bengaluru on a build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis, paving the way for toll collection on these routes. The two proposed corridors — from Esteem Mall near Hebbal to HSR Layout/Silk Board and from KR Pura to Mysuru Road — will be developed under a global tendering process, law and parliamentary affairs minister HK Patil said. "The cabinet was given three options: Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM), handing it over to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), or BOOT. The cabinet has decided to go ahead with BOOT model, and global tenders will be called shortly," Patil said while briefing media after the cabinet meeting. Housing subsidy In another key decision, the cabinet resolved to provide interest subsidy of up to Rs 3,000 per month for beneficiaries under the 1 lakh housing scheme project in Bengaluru. The subsidy will be available for 10 years and apply to 45,124 one-bedroom housing units being constructed and sold by the state housing department. Other cabinet decisions include: Quantum research park at IISc at a cost of Rs 48 crore; Rs 1,380-crore proposal for ITI-KGTI German institute skill development programme with assistance from Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Engineering admission process revision: Four CAP rounds instead of three, stricter admission confirmation rules: Patil
State higher and technical education minister Chandrakant Patil announced Thursday, that the government would now conduct four centralised admission process (CAP) rounds for admission instead of three for the 2025-26 academic year. The changes mirror the revised admission process announced for Engineering Diploma admissions a few days ago. While adding that the changes mirror the revised admission, Patil said, 'The move aims to complete the majority of admissions through the centralised process thereby ensuring greater transparency.' While a separate Government Resolution (GR) will be issued in this regard with details of the revised process according to the information shared by the minister, apart from one additional CAP round, another key change will be extending mandatory admission confirmation rule to the first three rounds and there would also be stricter rules of confirmation of admission on allotted seats in the first three rounds. As per this extension, the condition to mandatorily confirm admission on allotted seat will not be limited to first-preferred college. While it was always mandatory for candidates to confirm admission if allotted a seat in first preferred college, as per the revised rule this condition is now extended up to three and six colleges for second and third round, respectively. Which means, in the first CAP round, the candidate has to confirm admission on the allotted seat if it is his/her first preferred college. But in CAP round 2, it will be mandatory for candidates to confirm admission if the allotted seat is in the first three colleges from his/her preference list. Whereas in CAP round 3 the same condition is extended up to six colleges which means a candidate has to mandatorily confirm admission if allotted seat in first six colleges from his/her preference list. An official from the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), said, 'Traditionally, candidates were allowed to choose 'float' option which allowed the applicant to keep the allotted seat on hold as he/she seeks a betterment chance in the next round. With this process candidates would wait until the last round to confirm admission with hopes that they will get allotment of a seat in a better preferred college. With extension of mandatory confirmation rule, maximum applicants will be admitted by three rounds.' Patil added, 'Additional CAP rounds will ensure that candidates have more chance of securing admission through CAP before heading to institution level admissions which start after CAP. Furthermore, expansion of the mandatory seat confirmation rule will ensure that candidates do not keep waiting until the last round without admissions.' Engineering admissions in Maharashtra will start after the result of MHT-CET is declared which is expected to be out on June 16.
