19 Covid patients hospitalised: CM Rekha Gupta
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday revealed that 19 Covid-19 patients were currently hospitalised in the national capital but emphasised that there was no cause for worry.
'Nineteen patients are admitted to hospitals, and the remaining are receiving treatment at their homes. But COVID-19 has not reached the point where people need to worry. The government is ready for every situation,' Gupta said, as quoted by PTI.
She added that the government was on alert and hospitals were ready. The CM also pointed out that people needed to remain cautious.
Last week, the Delhi government issued an advisory to hospitals, asking them to ensure availability of beds, medicines and oxygen.
Delhi had 104 active COVID-19 cases till Monday, according to official data. Health officials told PTI that 24 patients had recovered in the past week.
Meanwhile, Mumbai has been recording an average of 11 new Covid-19 cases daily, according to an HT report. On May 28, Mumbai logged 36 new cases marking a surge in the number of infections.

The day also saw a total of 420 tests being done for Covid, including 354 RTPCR and 66 RAT tests. Saturday's positivity rate stood at 13.8 per cent and fatality rate at 1.7 per cent, it added. Deaths touch four, Health Dept. issues advisory
With COVID-19 deaths in Karnataka rising to four, the State Health Department on Saturday issued an advisory on surveillance and safety for the general public and school children. With 58 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, the total number of active cases reached 238 on Saturday. A 63-year-old fully vaccinated male from Bengaluru Urban, who was on postoperative chemotherapy and had pulmonary Tuberculosis with squamous cell carcinoma of buccal mucosa, a type of oral cancer that develops on the lining of the inner cheek, was admitted to a private hospital on May 21. He died on May 29 of complications arising out of his comorbid conditions and 'tested positive for COVID incidentally.' This is the fourth death in Karnataka this year. The other three deaths were also of male patients. An 84-year-old in Bengaluru, a 70-year-old in Belagavi, and a 63-year-old in Mysuru, who also had several comorbid conditions and developed COVID, succumbed to the disease on May 17, 26, and 25 respectively. Advisory Intensifying surveillance for early detection and prevention of transmission, the department has advised citizens to not panic but stay vigilant. While advising parents not to send their children to school if they have fever, cough, cold, and other symptoms, the State Health Commissioner K.B. Sivakumar has advised people to follow COVID-appropriate behaviour and take treatment. Helpline number Calling upon people to dial toll-free helpline number 1800 425 8330 for health advice, and 108 for emergency patient transport, the commissioner has said it is advisable to wear masks in crowded places, maintain physical distance and practice good hygiene. 'Seek medical advice immediately if experiencing fever, cough, chest pain, or breathing difficulty, and cooperate with random testing. Stay alert, not anxious,' the advisory added.

Karnataka Health Department issues Covid-19 guidelines to schools ahead of reopening
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 31 (ANI): Given the current COVID-19 situation in the state and the reopening of schools in June, the Karnataka Health Department has issued a circular asking government and private schools to take precautions in the interest of school children's health. The instructions came following a Covid-19 situation review meeting held by the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on May 26. The instructions are as follows: If schoolchildren develop fever, cough, cold, and other symptoms, do not send them to school. Follow appropriate treatment and care measures as advised by the doctor. Children should be sent to school only after the symptoms have completely resolved. If children come to school with fever, cough, cold, and other symptoms, inform the parents and send such children home, as per the circular. Further, school teachers and non-teaching staff are advised to take appropriate precautions if they develop fever, cough, cold, or other symptoms. However, ensuring adherence to COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour (CAB), including precautionary measures such as hand hygiene, Cough Etiquette, etc. According to the Union Health Ministry, India's COVID-19 tally has reached 2,710 active cases, with 1,170 patients discharged. The country reported seven deaths across multiple states, with comorbidities playing a significant role in most cases, according to state-wise data. According to the Health Ministry, in Delhi, one death was reported--a 60-year-old female with acute intestinal obstruction post-laparotomy, where Covid-19 was an incidental finding. Gujarat recorded one death, with details still awaited. Karnataka reported one fatality--a 70-year-old male who succumbed to acute cardiorespiratory arrest, acute encephalopathy with late-onset focal seizure, severe anaemia, thrombocytopenia, and comorbidities including diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension (HTN), and ischemic heart disease (IHD). His Covid-19 status awaits RT-PCR confirmation, as per the statement. It also stated that Maharashtra reported two deaths: a 67-year-old male with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), left lung pneumonia, Covid-19 RT-PCR positive, and comorbidities including DM, HTN, and cerebrovascular accident (CVA); and a 21-year-old male with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI), with one death reconciled. Punjab recorded one death--a 39-year-old male with Hepatitis B and acute respiratory syndrome. Tamil Nadu reported one death--a 60-year-old male with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), hypertension (HTN), and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Kerala leads with 1,147 active cases, and reconciliation of mortality figures is ongoing. Bihar is awaiting daily COVID-19 updates.
