2026 4-star ATH and Texas A&M commit rises 259 spots in Rivals 300 rankings
However, even with his drastic rise, Johnson was not included in Rivals' "Biggest Risers" list, which likely had to do with him not being unranked before his stock rose. As a star quarterback at Fort Bend Marshall HS in Missouri City, Texas, Johnson's size, speed, and athleticism make him an intriguing future offensive weapon under OC Collin Klein.
Texas A&M has had success with versatile athletes taking on new positions, including junior safety Bryce Anderson, who was also a quarterback in high school. Johnson's QB background, once he makes the transition to tight end, will come in handy as he learns his new role in Klein's scheme.
During his 2024 junior season, Johnson passed for 2,109 yards and 25 touchdowns, completing 60% of his passes, while also rushing for 571 yards and six touchdowns. Johnson is now the 174th-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle and the 24th-ranked prospect in Texas.

Bill Belichick thankful to be coaching UNC, highlights team growth at ACC Kickoff
What type of player does Bill Belichick like to coach? Larry Fedora fizzled out. Mack Brown didn't work during his second stint. This offseason, the UNC football team went big with its latest head coaching hire: 8-time Super Bowl Champion Bill Belichick. Despite never previously coaching at the college level, Belichick's NFL resumé speaks for itself. He turned the New England Patriots from a decent franchise into the NFL's most-feared dynasty, developing the greatest football player to walk this earth in Tom Brady. Belichick is no stranger to the Tar Heels, though. Belichick's dad, Steve, was an assistant coach in Chapel Hill from 1953-1955. At the ACC Kickoff event on Thursday afternoon in Charlotte, Belichick spoke about the opportunity to come back and coach college football, digging in on player development. 'I've always wanted to coach in college – and I'm glad to have the opportunity to be at a great school like Carolina," Belichick said in front of a packed media room. "The great thing about working with college players is the growth and development that I've seen with them. Developing players is really what coaching is. We take great pride in that. A Carolina player is a player who wants to be a good football player, who wants to work hard, who wants to make a commitment towards improving on a regular basis, both training and team execution on the field." UNC hired Belichick back in December 2024, so he's now going on month seven working with his new players. Several people are expecting a championship-caliber Tar Heels team in 2025, but it all depends on how Belichick develops his guys. The first opportunity for North Carolina fans – and the entire college football world – to see offseason development pay off will be Monday, September 1 at 8 p.m. in Kenan Stadium. UNC hosts TCU in the final game of Week 1, on ESPN, under the lights. Michigan State football star WR Nick Marsh shares his commitment to East Lansing
Nick Marsh: "All money is not good money. I'm building something at Michigan State - a foundation, a brotherhood, a family. I think that's more important than money. I think family and God is more important than materialistic things." Michigan State football has a star in River Rouge (MI) wide receiver Nick Marsh. The former blue-chip recruit had an amazing freshman season a year ago, and now, is gearing up for an encore in his sophomore campaign. While Marsh is preparing to be the Spartans No. 1 wide receiver target, the sophomore campaign almost never came to fruition. There has been many reports circulating about the tampering that took place with Marsh in the offseason. Ultimately, Marsh made the decision to come back to MSU, and has doubled down every chance he gets to share his love for Michigan State and the community. During Big Ten media days on Thursday, Marsh had a very fun quote (courtesy of Spartans Illustrated) about his love for Michigan State and what he is building in East Lansing: "All money is not good money. I'm building something at Michigan State - a foundation, a brotherhood, a family. I think that's more important than money. I think family and God is more important than materialistic things." Jonathan Smith shares high praise for QB Aidan Chiles during Big Ten Football Media Days
Michigan State football will go as far as starting quarterback Aidan Chiles can take them. And it sounds like Spartans head coach Jonathan Smith is confident in riding that train with Chiles. It was the Spartans turn at Big Ten Football Media Days on Thursday afternoon, with Smith making the media rounds throughout the day. One of his stops was on the Big Ten Network's season preview show where Smith was asked about Chiles and his ability as the Spartans' starting quarterback. From what it sounds like, Smith is confident in what Chiles is able to bring to the table for Michigan State this upcoming season. "He can create. He can make all the throws. He's competitive," Smith told the Big Ten Network cast during media days. "Maybe it's not great at first so I'm going to go extend this play. So you like some of those attributes out of him, but at the same time not making a bad play worse. Sometimes, 2nd down is okay or punting the ball is okay. Through his experience last year, I think he has learned. If you look at him statistically, games one through six vs. games seven through 12, the stats are a whole lot better in the back end. We want to stay on that trajectory and then do our part also." Here's the full video clip from the quote above as well -- courtesy of the Big Ten Football official X account: Chiles was a first year starter for Michigan State last year, starting all 12 games for the Spartans. He struggled with consistency at times, throwing for 2,415 yards, 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions during his first year. He also ran for 225 yards and three touchdowns last season. The notable thing that Smith touched on in his interview was the improvement in the back half of the season for Chiles. Of his 11 interceptions (which is his biggest knock against him last year), eight of those came in the first six games compared to only three in the final six games. If Chiles is able to continue that trajectory as Smith said, then I too am very excited for what he could bring to the table this season in year two as the Spartans' starter. Michigan State opens the 2025 season on August 29 against in-state foe Western Michigan. Kickoff from Spartan Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will be televised on FS1.
