Sabrina Carpenter being lined up to star in third Mamma Mia movie based on songs of ABBA
Sabrina Carpenter is being eyed up for huge role in Mamma Mia 3.
It's no secret that the singer, 26, is a big ABBA fan, having previously performed their songs on her Short n' Sweet tour, as well as the band being one of her top artists on Spotify.
Now, Sabrina could star in the sequel, 17 years after the original film was released, which featured Hollywood actors including Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan.
Producer Judy Craymer, who has finished a script for a third movie, said: 'She'd be a goddess or some relation who would look very much like Meryl Streep.'
Speaking about the project, Judy told Hollywood news site Deadline: 'Well, we know what we want to do with the movie, and it will happen.
'And I mean, we brought together this amazing group of movie stars that were all connected through it, and huge friendships evolved.'
Amanda Seyfried, 39, who plays Sophie in the films, previously said she could see Sabrina playing her daughter.
She said: 'Old age make-up for me. If Sabrina Carpenter wants to play my daughter, I'll make it happen. It's fine. I'm a big fan.'
The two-time Grammy winner is throwing herself into work after ending her year-long romance with Oscar-nominated actor Barry Keoghan last December.
'They are both young and career-focused, so they've decided to take a break,' an insider told People at the time.
Sabrina and the 32-year-old Irishman - who starred in her Please Please Please music video last June - awkwardly attended the Met Gala separately on May 4.
Making things more complicated, Barry fathered two-year-old son Brando during his two-year relationship with dental nurse Alyson Kierans, which ended in 2023.
On Wednesday, Miley Cyrus gave Carpenter and Chappell Roan their 'Flowers.'
'I thought Sabrina and Chappell both at the Grammys this year,' the 32-year-old pop star said on The Zane Lowe Show.
'It was over the top pro singing. I'm just big fans and I just support those girls all the way.'
Miley (born Destiny) knows first-hand 'the courage that it takes and I know that the nerves get in the way.'
'I know that both of them were probably choking on their heart because it's so much pressure, and they just nailed it,' Cyrus added.
'And Sabrina at SNL 50 blew my mind.'
The Pennsylvania-born blonde bombshell's single Taste has spent 38 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 - tying it with Please Please Please as her second-longest-running hit.
Sabrina's biggest hit remains Espresso having charted for 57 weeks, it's currently at No. 21.
Carpenter is next scheduled to headline the Spanish music festival Primavera Sound, which is held at Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona on June 6.
The Nonsense Christmas star will then resume her $33.2M-grossing, 72-date Short n' Sweet Tour on July 5-6 at Hyde Park in London.
Sabrina has been a singer for the last decade, but her career got a major boost in 2023 while serving opening duties for Taylor Swift.
Carpenter - who gets 65.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify - originally taught herself how to play piano and guitar with YouTube tutorials.
The SKIMS brand ambassador got her first break starring in the Disney Channel shows Disney Fairies, Sofia the First, and Girl Meets World.

Over the years, Rihanna and her father have gotten into multiple public feuds: he once got kicked off her tour after he 'embarrassed her' by 'disrespected' crew members; she was left furious when he spoke publicly about her controversial romance with Chris Brown; and he was kicked out of her charity event for boozing soon after he completed a rehab stint she had funded. Ronald said he feels terrible for breaking his promise to stop drinking to his daughter. But when asked if he was an alcoholic, he insisted: 'Me, n,. drunk and disorderly. I don't see myself as an alcoholic, I don't realize when I get that drunk. 'Call me a drunk or alcoholic in denial, whatever you want to call me but I have realized I could drink or not drink. 'I only start[ed] drinking, once I come back here in December.' Britain's Got Talent final judges wildcard act revealed
After a number of weeks of exciting semi-finals, there were various acts that missed out on the chance to perform in the final. However, of all the acts, one is in the final as the wildcard. But some fans have been left disappointed by the decision. The wildcard act chosen for the 2025 Britain's Got Talent final is Han and Fran. They were chosen as the 11th act by the judges. Ant and Dec revealed the wildcard during the opening of the final, with Simon saying: "They got a massive vote from the public and therefore they deserve a shot in the final." Viewers quickly voiced their opinion, with many taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share what they thought of the pair's return. One said: "So has Simon just confirmed Han and Fran are the wild card because they got the highest 2nd place vote?" Another added: "So many better acts should've been chosen as the wildcard." "Why would you bring these two back?", a third said. And our Wildcard is...
