PINE CITY, N.Y. (WETM)—Tunnel to Towers is an organization that serves first responders and veterans.
On 9/11, a firefighter named Stephen Siller was heading home after his shift to meet his brothers when his scanner went off. He parked his car and ran through the tunnel with his gear on his shoulders to the Twin Towers, where he was last seen.
Stephen was a dedicated firefighter who loved his country. His brother, Frank Siller, started the foundation Tunnels to Towers in honor of Stephen.

'His brother, Frank Siller, started the foundation Tunnels to Towers in honor of his brother. It's really snowballed into a major charity,' said Dan Kelley Golf Tournament Supporter.
Tunnel to Towers was founded on February 1, 2003, and has been helping the community since then.
'In 2014, I was in Naples with a friend, and I met a gentleman who was a retired firefighter from 9/11 in New York City, and he explained what they did in Tunnel to Towers and that they had a bravest barbecue in New York City in Staten Island every year. He explained that they had caterers come in, and I got interested,' said Doug Joseph, Owner of Stone Age BBQ.
Doug went to New York City and was a part of Tunnel to Towers for 11 years.
Tunnel to Towers has paid off more than 1200 mortgages of fallen firefighters and police officers so that the families will be able to function.

The Horseheads Fire Department is having its 17th annual golf tournament. The tournament is a partnership between Tunnel to Towers and the fire department. It will occur on Saturday, October 11, at Soaring Eagles Golf Course at 201 Middle Rd in Horseheads.
'19 years ago, my father passed away in the line of duty, April 3, 2006. A couple of years after his passing, we decided to have a golf tournament just for our fire department and some locals. We just got together to have some fun and honor my dad,' said Kevin Sullivan, Golf Event Planner. 'This went on for 16 years, and this year we're honored to have a 17th year and the last 2 years, this year being our second, we're going to be partners with Tunnels to Towers,' he said.
For more information on the tournament, contact Kevin Sullivan by email at krsullivan@icloud.com or phone at (607) 481-0444.

FilmLA Warns Production Permits May Be Denied Amid ICE Protests

Los Angeles film office FilmLA has advised filmmakers that areas in and around downtown Los Angeles, specifically near City Hall and the nearby federal building, may be off-limits for productions until further notice as protests against immigration raids continue in the area. 'The City of Los Angeles' permit authority, LAPD, asked that FilmLA reassure the industry that requests to film on-location will continue to be reviewed and evaluated on a case-by-case basis,' the advisory read. 'In the City of Los Angeles and in other jurisdictions, filming is allowed in all areas except those where protest activity is concentrated.' FilmLA also says that it is unaware of any active productions that have been interrupted by this past weekend's protests, which have been concentrated around the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) field office and the adjacent Edward R. Roybal Federal Building, both located on the intersection of Los Angeles and Temple St. a block southeast from City Hall. FilmLA also noted a labor protest being held at City Hall in support of SEIU California president David Huerta, whom the union says was injured and arrested by federal agents while observing the immigration raids. Huerta, a U.S. citizen, was charged with interfering with federal agents and is set to appear in court today, with U.S. Senators Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla sending a letter to the Trump Administration demanding answers as to why he was arrested. 'We are unable to give more specific boundaries for affected areas at this time as the situation is fluid. Care for crew safety is important, as is making room for protected free speech,' FilmLA said. While FilmLA has reported a major decline in on-location shooting in Los Angeles County, downtown remains a common shooting location, with shows like '9-1-1' and 'Suits L.A.' among the recent productions to shoot in the area. Movies such as 'L.A. Confidential,' 'Inception' and 'La La Land' are among those who have also shot in downtown. Over the weekend, the Trump Administration launched widespread immigration raids throughout Los Angeles. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a Saturday social media post that it had arrested 118 immigrants during operations in the city last week. Community groups have deployed rapid response networks as news of the raids spread to warn of federal officials' presence while protests have been staged outside the USCIS office throughout the weekend. In response to the protests, President Trump called for the deployment of 2,000 members of the California National Guard against the wishes of Gov. Gavin Newsom, who announced that the state would sue the Trump Administration over the deployment. The post FilmLA Warns Production Permits May Be Denied Amid ICE Protests appeared first on TheWrap.

Tom Ellis Previews Latest FBI Offshoot, His CIA Agent's ‘Large Dose of Moral Ambiguity' — Watch Video

Tom Ellis' character in CBS' CIA sounds like a bit of a devil. CBS' upcoming 'expansion' of the FBI universe (airing Mondays at 10/9c this fall) is centered on two unlikely partners — a fast-talking, rule-breaking loose cannon CIA case officer (played by Lucifer vet Ellis), and a yet-to-be-cast by-the-book, seasoned and smart FBI agent who believes in the rule of law. EP Previews 'Negotiations' Ahead 'When this odd couple is assigned to work out of CIA's New York Station,' the official synopsis reads, 'they must learn to work together to investigate cases and criminals posing threats on U.S. soil, finding that their differences may actually be their strength.' Speaking with TVLine at CBS' recent Upfront event, Ellis said that CIA will take its cue from 'the format set up on FBI' and 'explore the notion of why these agencies don't normally work together' — despite the fact that the events of 9/11 suggested that the Agency and Bureau should share more information. Ellis says that the unlikely partnership proves to be 'productive but also very difficult, because they have very different philosophies on how to achieve goals.' When we first meet Ellis' CIA agent, the British actor reveals, he is 'stuck in the 'boring' end of the job, on home soil in New York,' and thus perhaps is open to any set-up that gets him more action. All told, though, 'he is someone who has to use guile and deceit and lies to get what he wants,' Ellis shares. 'There's large dose of moral ambiguity that comes with him.' CIA is executive-produced by showrunner David Hudgins, FBI franchise overlord Dick Wolf, Nicole Perlman, David Chasteen and Peter Jankowski. Eriq La Salle will direct and exec-produce the first episode. An exact premiere date has not yet been set, but CIA will air Mondays at 10 pm, leading out of the FBI mothership.
